Dr. Chimanji is the lead doctor at N R Urgent Care, and I highly recommend him. I have visited Dr. Chimanji twice over the years, once several years ago and once a few months ago. I had a minor skin irritation a few months ago, and I trust Dr. Chimanji's diagnostic ability enough that I drove some distance to see him. Sure enough, he immediately diagnosed the issue as being due to a change in the formulation of my laundry detergent. He suggested I try a new laundry detergent, and that fixed the skin irritation issue. Most impressive is that he did all this without an array of tests. The doctor was also working behind the front desk and insisted over the phone when I called that I would have to pay in advance even though I live and work in town and have insurance. OK. Some doctors dont accept insurance and my deductible is high anyway so... I paid by CC - $175. A couple weeks after my visit I receive a bill via mail stating I have not paid and must pay $175. I went in person to the doctor's office and indicated that I had already paid and showed the receipt he gave me. He acknowledged I already paid and said he would talk to the billing department. Should be done right? Now, weeks later, i receive another notice that I have not paid and need to pay. I am not paying you twice dude. It doesn't work that way. I want to point out too that the address on the letter I received with the medical bill is hand written. Draw your own conclusions. read more

I've been to see Him twice and both times never had to wait very long to be seen. When you are feeling sick, that is a VERY BIG DEAL! He is very nice and takes time to give you a quality experience. Greatly appreciate his practice. Most recently I came in for a sinus infection and the first antibiotic did not work. Matching up to Jason's review. I wish I could give this place 0 stars... I went in with a cold (possibly something more). I just relocated from CA and he was so nasty to me. Completely unprofessional. He was going to charge me full price... and I showed him my insurance card and stated that I've only had to pay a $30 copay. He started getting rude and saying that I needed to pay $200 just to see them or I could leave. He was so disrespectful and rude. The fact that I'm not the only one who's had the exact same experience just goes to show you that this place is shady! I know Dr. Mahan for more than five years now, and I don't know why I haven't written a review sooner. Always a prompt and quick response, accurate diagnosis and prescription. Dr. Mahan is very humble, patiently listens to all my doubts and questions, and with his response, he even includes materials I could read and research, so I can even adjust my diet to get well soon. I come from India, and we have a family doctor culture back home; where a whole big family trusts only one physician for our problems, and here Dr. Mahan gave me that feeling of comfort and personal care in all my odd times so far. Pros: Friendly, thorough, very informative. Almost no wait time. Cons: Could not look up what my copay was, so charged me $50 and said they would refund me money if they later learned that they had overcharged me. Excellent doctor! He was very thorough and made sure to explain exactly what he was doing. I had an infection under my nail bed that needed to be drained and I asked 5 different urgent care offices- they either couldn't do it or wanted to charge way too much. If I could give 0 I would. So unprofessional. The Dr was at the front desk and was a total ass to me. Treated me like I was goin to try and get away without paying my bill. I live in state, having just moved here, I still have an out of state ID. I have a deductible and he wanted me to pay up front. I said that isn't how my insurance works. I have a HSA through work. He then got snippy with me and advised me that he would be charging me or I can go elsewhere. I asked for my ID back and my paperwork as he doesn't need it and he yelled that it's his and he will shred it. Treated me horribly and was really rude. I grabbed my ID and left. I have visited while I had a bad injury on my right hand thumb..Chamanji ( doctor ) was quite patient and clearly diagnosed the situation and handled the patient with complete care. He seems to be extremely knowledgeable and diagnose very well. He is quite helpful and medicines prescribed were extremely helpful which completely cured my Thumb finger. I also recommend others to be treated by him while he is very good in handling the patients. Huge issues in the billing department - honestly probably not a department, I think the DR does it himself. JUST received a bill for services on 11/10/2014. NOPE! I didn't even get my foot into the door (I'm sure glad I didn't, after now reading the dirty hands and rude doctor comments below). I was in the area for a wedding and found this clinic on Google. I went straight away at 8am, since the hours of operation said they were open on Sunday from 1am-5pm. Once we parked up front, we saw the door said they weren't open until 9am! No problem... we left for a bite to eat and came straight back to be the first in the door. We got back and parked and waited until 9. After no sign of opening, I called the number on the door at 9:05 and I believe the doctor himself answered. He said they didn't open until 10am! After telling him that the hours on the door said 9, he said those were old hours and he needed to change them. YES YOU DO! No sympathy and horrible customer service. Nope Nope Nope. read more

Dr Chimanji is wonderful. He was a one-man shop. He took my call this morning, scheduled me, met me at the front of his office, and then walked me back to begin his diagnostics. He makes his own schedule, so there was 0 wait time. He makes sure each patient is seen when they are actually scheduled... a breath of fresh air in today's healthcare scene. I was very impressed with Dr. Chimanji. He has a wonderful bedside manner and he knows his craft. I did not feel rushed and we had a good dialogue. While I am not in the medical field, I usually have a pretty good idea of what works for me and what doesn't, based on experience. A doctor that listens to my input, and provides solutions with my points taken into account, always works out for the best, and I'm confident that I'm on the mend. Some things are done the old school way, (I can't remember the last time I got a handwritten prescription) but that's okay. Based on other reviews, I suggest calling to make an appointment, and make sure you have your insurance card and ID. If other arrangements need to be made, talk to them first. I don't think they are unreasonable or uncaring, however, he still needs to get paid. Bottom line, if you like being treated as a person rather than a medical chart, you will be pleased with the care you receive. read more

I stumbled into this facility one afternoon nauseous, exhausted, and scared because I was experiencing vertigo and didn't know why. Dr. Chimanji recommended that I see a specialist that would be able to better help me but first he took my vitals and did a few tests to make sure it was actually vertigo and not something else. Before he did he told me he wouldn't take my information or charge me for the visit unless he thought he could help me. By this time I'm throwing up and wobbling around like I've been drinking all night. Dr. Chimanji and his wife took it upon themselves to call at least a dozen specialists to find one that would take my insurance and see me immediately. They didn't have to do that and I wouldn't have thought to ask them for that kind of help but it meant a lot to me because I was in no condition to be able to make those calls myself. It's actions like this that let you know you can trust someone to make decisions that are in your best interests and not theirs. read more

I dropped in with Dr. Chimanji while on a business trip to Plano. I was having abdominal pain, which he suspected (correctly) was appendicitis. Based on his advice, I was in the hospital that night and in the OR the next morning. No one looks forward to surgery, but if I had waited another day or two it would have been much worse.
