The floor plans and photos online are misleading. For example, the "Juliette balcony" is not a balcony at all -- it's just a screened door with a gate outside. If you expect your apartment to look like the pictures, make sure to ask for clarification before signing. When I moved in, the unit had not been cleaned and was left exactly as the previous resident had it. A vendor admitted days later that they had never serviced the apartment. On top of that, the refrigerator burned out on my first day. When I leaned against it, I was shocked badly enough to leave me shaken -- yet maintenance dismissed it as "just a shock" instead of an electrocution. Regardless of terminology, this is unacceptable in an apartment at this price point. To make matters worse, the unit was infested with ants, including in my bed. I eventually transferred to another unit that actually had a balcony like the ones advertised online. Management, however, failed to tell me that my $200 security deposit would not transfer -- they simply applied it to the new lease, and I never saw it again. Another major concern was my privacy. Five days before my lease ended, vendors entered my apartment without my knowledge to "prepare" it for the next tenant. I only discovered this because they left a Starbucks cup on my counter. The thought of strangers being in my home, with access to all my belongings, while I was still living there is extremely unsettling and irresponsible. Community-wide issues are constant. Management regularly sends emails complaining about loud music and a pervasive weed smell throughout the property. The valet trash service is unreliable, leaving garbage piled up and making the complex reek. The pool is often closed because residents bring in children who aren't potty trained. The mail setup is another nightmare. Packages are delivered to an outdoor hallway with no cameras, making theft easy. I personally had an Amazon package rifled through, along with several others, before the office finally stepped in. By then, items were already scattered and tampered with. Overall, this complex is mismanaged, unprofessional, and unsafe. Between the misleading advertising, poor maintenance, privacy violations, community issues, and lack of security, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere before signing a lease here.

My boyfriend and I have a 2x2ft hole in our closet from a past water leak issue the water heater that has still not been fixed. (It has been 3 months) The palmetto bugs are AWFUL!! Any time it rains, gnats get horrible, all bugs get horrible. We pay for pest control but pest control never comes. My boyfriend and I have been living here for a year and when we first moved in, we were told we could work on race cars, go-karts, whatever we wanted.. but recently, the maintenance man TOOK THE GOKART and the stand, and put it behind the leasing office by the dumpster. WTAF!? Speaking of maintenance, THEY CANNOT KEEP A MAINTENANCE PERSON! At least 3-4 maintenance people have worked at this place during our time here. They have also been taking things from and beside people's front doors and throwing them away in the dumpster. Ex. Kids bikes, toddler toys (an electric toy car aka power wheels), chalk, chairs, side tables (to put groceries on so you can unlock the door) and even some plants. They are very quick to add fines for trash left out your door overnight. (I clean the apartment and leave the trash bags outside overnight so the apartment doesn't smell. All the dumpsters are far away from our apartment and I will not be walking to a dumpster late at night when it's dark outside. In the morning the first thing I do is take the trash to the dumpster. They have no trash services. Usually apartments will have a trash service to where you can leave trash outside and it will get picked up. But no. We have to walk to a dumpster and throw trash away ourselves. The maintenance person will come in your home without a 24 hr notice. Real life Example back when the water leak thing- leasing people- "the maintenance man is at your door, please let them in or they will make entry as if it was an emergency" KEEP IN MIND IT WAS 8:30 IN THE MORNING. The leasing office wasn't even open yet. We were barely up yet. Our daughter was 4 months old at the time. This is not a very good place to live. 10/10 would NOT recommend.

You will never have to paint the vinyl siding and they say that land was purchased by builder when prices were in decline after the 2008 housing crisis, builder passed savings to buyers and that had an impact on resale as well. A 3 year old home here sells for about 75K less than the counterpart at Nexton so it is a matter of choice and economics and certainly up to the individual. This is the only place where there are two DelWebb communities kinda side by side. Another difference is that this one is not gated and that fact takes away the sense of security even if it is only on your mind because in the end nothing will make a community be safe as Fort Knox

The staff at the sales center and "Resort" are courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful. The amenities are abundant with activities and clubs to satisfy all interests. Most importantly, it is a comfort for us and our families to know that our neighbors and community residents are there when we need them. They are like family, and that was never more evident than during the epic flood of 2015 when everyone in this and the surrounding communities, pulled together to help anyone in need. This is an honest business that delivers; the apartment was comfortable, clean and the extra layer of comfort made it feel like home. I had a long stay, but they also offer daily rates. The set up is very simple and you can make reservations online. I 'm planning to rent from them every time I come back to Charleston. This high level of professionalism, comfort, and privacy will be very hard to match by any hotel. I've traveled nonstop with the military the last 15 years, stayed at many hotels all over the world and staying at this apartment in North Charleston was by far the nicest experience I ever had. We have police officers that live here. The front desk woman, I think her name is Kimberly is very nice, professional and welcoming. 5. Pet friendly. 6. They send out emails to our little community about different changes, reminders etc 7. Landscaping/ Maintenance do their best to keep the grounds clean but it's really up to the residents to clean up after themselves. I have seen lots of residents throw their trash where it doesn't belong, failing to pick up after their pet, kids dropping food outside etc Cons 1. In the 20 mins I spent on the initial walk through in the apartment, the light fixture in the kitchen fell... and almost fell on me. I went to the office and was told maintenance won't come until Monday (it was a Saturday) because it wasn't considered an emergency. So I couldn't use my kitchen. 2. My apartment was infested with roaches. I didn't know this until my 1st night. I didn't see any signs of an infestation during the daylight. However, once I started treating my apartment, whoever was in there before me I could tell treated it for roaches. 3. Maintenance came and fixed the light fixture that Monday and took accountability that it was incorrectly installed by a new employee. I was also told they would treat the infestation. 4. The roaches in my apartment didn't seem to respond to their pest control treatment. Other tenants have confirmed this for their buildings/apartments. However, pest control did come every week for a month. Ultimately, my neighbor and I worked together on our apartments to rid the issue ourselves with the products we bought. Took 4 months for me to completely rid the infestation in my apartment. 5. I have a personal pet peeve of both being able to see exactly which apartment I will be moving into. I also understand why some places don't allow this but don't list an apartment as available if it is not immediately ready for showing.

DON'T MOVE HERE!…read more Because we work from home, we are generally in our apartment 24/7. Like all tenants who signed a lease here, we also expected to live in a comfortable space. Instead, due to rowdy and trashy neighbors, poor pest control, cigarette smoke, and lousy maintenance, we have been unable to live comfortably at all for an entire year. First, the neighbors are generally friendly, but some of them are rowdy because they talk loudly and play loud music outside. The walls are thin and as such we hear these loud noises all the time throughout the day and in every corner of the apartment. Furthermore, some of the neighbors are trashy and leave items in the breezeway such as strollers, trash, couches, ashtrays, and cat food for the stray cats which has left an unpleasant sight to behold in the front of the apartment as well as a breeding ground for roaches and other pests. We also cannot help but smell strong cigarette smoke or weed every time we enter and exit the apartment. The noises and smells have caused an incredible nuisance for us. Second, roaches have been sighted all over our kitchen and living room. We maintain a tidy household by cleaning regularly, but the roaches continue to invade our space. We see at least three large roaches per day. Even after returning home from a week long trip, we found pests had invaded the sofa, living room floor, and kitchen floor. Pest control does check the unit on a monthly basis, but unfortunately this has not controlled the pest problem. We have sighted roaches in every crack imaginable in the kitchen and it is disgusting! As such, we have avoided using the kitchen to cook. The apartment complex needs to properly seal cracks and crawl spaces found throughout the unit to reduce the pests and improve its pesticide. Third, I'm surprised this place allows its tenants to smoke cigarettes inside its units. Cigarette smoke brings down the property value of a place substantially and obviously results in health issues and interferes with quality of life. The cigarette smoke from the neighbors has seeped through our vents causing a nauseating smell in our unit. As such, on a regular basis, we open all of our windows and leave them open throughout the day even when temperatures dropped to reduce the smell. We've also spent close to $500 in cleaning products to remove the cigarette smoke smell including a brand new vacuum cleaner, various deodorizers, and a HEPA filter. Our clothes and furniture smell like cigarette smoke every time we leave the apartment and it is disgusting. It is incredibly difficult to remove cigarette smoke smell from clothing and as a result we have had to throw away some clothing. Also, the cigarette smoke smell has not only interfered with our quality of life throughout the day, but also at night and as such our quality of sleep. We often wake up throughout the night coughing, adjusting positions to avoid smelling the smoke, and have experienced itchy or scratchy throats. Lastly, maintenance and apartment staff are generally friendly and have tried to assist us on a timely basis. However, there were a couple of instances where we were promised by maintenance to have an issue fixed, but the issue never got resolved. For example, we asked about the cigarette smoke problem and called maintenance almost once daily to have someone assist us. Maintenance eventually provided a deodorizing spray, but also promised a filter system to remove the cigarette smoke from the air. No such promise was kept. Instead maintenance staff passive aggressively left us a post-it note on our door stating that they do not assist with cigarette smoke. In summary, rowdy and trashy neighbors, poor pest control, cigarette smoke, and lousy maintenance has made this one of the worst living experiences I have ever had. DON'T MOVE HERE!
