I recently had a root canal at Snow Endodontics and was surprised to find a silver (amalgam) filling placed in my tooth without any discussion or consent. I have no other silver fillings, and I would have absolutely chosen a tooth-colored composite, even if it meant paying extra. Unfortunately, because this was never discussed, I had to pay my regular dentist $165 to replace it. When I contacted Snow Endodontics, they refunded only $33, which they stated was their cost for the filling, but refused to cover the actual expense I incurred to correct the situation-even though the lack of informed consent was the root cause. Their response made me feel that patient satisfaction was less important than money. If you value clear communication, transparency, and the ability to make choices about your own dental care, I recommend asking very detailed questions before treatment-or consider going elsewhere.

When I called to reschedule, they told me I owed them a $50 cancellation fee due to the same day cancellation. I tried to explain that it was a same day cancellation because it was a same day appointment that I made 10 minutes earlier. They didn't care - they REALLY wanted that $50 cancellation fee! They were able to see me the same day as I was having an emergency. When I arrived the staff was not only professional but very nice and welcoming. Which I feel important for such a dreaded procedure (root canal). And believe it or not the best part about my visit was the Dr. and procedure. He was absolutely awesome. I mean so awesome that I wouldn't mind having another root canal. Ok maybe I don't really want another but I would drive from the other side of NC to go to this guy. Like I said before I had a bad infection and they got me in same day; however, once he began the procedure he was mostly concerned with how I was doing and if I felt ANYTHING! He didn't want me to be in any pain. Zero. So given that my tooth was so bad he wanted me to come back to finish and let my antibiotics do some more work in the meantime. Didn't charge me extra and didn't rush anything. This guy is a perfectionist and if you want your mouth taken care or properly then there is no where else to go. I have to say the root canal experience everyone warns you about was actually as enjoyable as a root canal could possibly be. I would give this practice 20 stars if possible.

They don't do a good job cleaning teeth....myself, husband and child all found out at the new dentist that we have issues that could have been dealt with, with more thorough cleanings and more thorough check-ups... I have visited Dr K at Monroe Family Dentistry looking to have a filling replaced and general cleaning care. They ask for payment when you walk in and I paid $99 for bite wing X-rays and an exam. The receptionist tried to sell me a program for treatment which works only in their office for another $300 even before I met the Dentist. I declined the offer. I waited about 30 minutes before I was called back to my appointment. Lots of staff on lunch break and I could smell the microwave odors heating up what smelled like fish teriyaki. The hygienist was friendly but did not have much to experience and while thorough, refused to clean my teeth on this visit. I am still unsure why as I had scheduled an appointment. The dental equipment did not function well and she had a tough time doing some of the diagnostics. After about an hour in the exam chair, my god, the Dentist came in. His scrubs were tight fitting, I guess to show his muscles off, but it felt uncomfortable me as he barely touched my mouth mostly looking at X-rays. Even though I had answered a questionnaire about being a non smoker, he asked me 4 times if I chewed tobacco. Very unusual. I kept asking about what I could do about my filling being replaced and he would not reply. I began to feel very uncomfortable. Without looking at my mouth he rolled his chair away from me and stated, " YOU HAVE SEVERE PERIODONTAL DISEASE AND NEED MUCH WORK". I held back laughter as I knew something was up. This was a real conman at work. I have regularly had dental cleanings and have no disease of teeth or gums. DO YOU HAVE Any QUESTIONS HE SAID? I peeled off about 10 to him and then he told me I needed a $1000 dollar bit plate claiming I grind my teeth and was breaking them apart. Wow! Then he told me I should consider having my jaw expanded surgically. Now this visit just became malpractice. I kept my peace and allowed the Dentist to leave the room. The front desk gave me a detailed treatment plan for a cool $3200. Needless to say I am not going back and I have found a wonderful dentist who cleaned my teeth and is filling my lost filling back and doing one other filling for me. That's all I had. The new dentist said I didn't even have tartar and my gums are wonderful. Said he wished all his patients took as good of care of their teeth as I do. I also noticed many families with children at a Dr K's office. It worries me that he is doing unnecessary work on children. This is outright fraud. Please stay away
