My original review was six years ago. Six years ago, it was very easy to get an appointment for my Nexus interview. Currently, I have two children and a spouse that are ready for the interview process and it's been months and we have had no luck getting appointments. Yes, I get online every first and third Monday of the month. I sign in at 8 o'clock and consistently check check check check check till 9:30am and no appointments come up for Nexus in Blaine Washington. This has been a nightmare of a situation. We have family in Canada and go to Canada multiple times a month. We are a family that would benefit highly from having our Nexus interview processing done for all family members in our household. I feel like this process is near to impossible to complete at this time when it's impossible to get an interview appointment. read more

My friend had an appointment here for her Nexus interview. The place was really packed. It was nice that it is only 5 to 10 mins drive from the Canadian Boarder. The place was very busy when we came on a Saturday. The atmosphere is very different from where I had my interview which was at the Calgary Airport long time ago. I don't see officers dressed in their uniforms (police officers/ immigrations officers uniforms) etc here. It is a lot more casual here. Also you can walk in easily. Where I took my interview, I had to press a door bell for someone to open the sliding glass door to let me in. So, that time I was not allow to show up way before my interview. They even have cartoons playing on the TV for kids in the waiting area. Where I took my interview no TVs at all. The decor of this Nexus Enrollment Center is very warm welcoming and where I took my interview it was just plain painted white walls. The Nexus Enrollment Center here is quite big as well. You can come early and wait for your appointment time if needed. The staff was very approachable here. They have a display glass of some artifacts here too which I found pretty interesting. One of the artifacts was a hair blow dryer which I was not sure what is so interesting about and why it deserves to be in a glass display. Anyways, my friend had a good experience. My impression of this place is pretty positive. read more

An absolutely insane experience that truly made me disappointed in the state of federal public-facing workers. When we got there, we knew we couldn't go without an appointment, so we just went into the building to ask a few questions to get clarification. My dad, who speaks accented English, was the one who approached the clerk first. Before his sentence was even out of his mouth, the woman at the counter began mocking him. My dad had started to say it was a bit difficult online, but she then cut him off by asking him in an incredibly dismissive tone, "what's difficult online? Shopping?" Ma'am. We are in a building whose only job is to accommodate those who have an appointment online. The two possibilities in this situation were that either she was slow or being intentionally obtuse. I believe it was the latter, because as soon as I, someone who is a native English speaker, jumped in to speak, she immediately backed down. It's also worth noting she was very polite to the white families that came after us. I am not sure whether or not the immediate, and I do mean immediate, hostility we were subjected to was racially based. At the very least, it seems that not being able to speak English perfectly will not benefit you. Either way, I cannot overstate how disappointed and angry this experience made me. I have never been treated this way in my entire life, but I suspect if I hadn't been here today my father would've continued to be mistreated by the clerk. If you are a person of color, or someone who doesn't speak perfect English, beware of this place: they will not be kind to you just by virtue of your personhood. read more

There is a wait, even if you have an appointment. The staff are generally pleasant and if you are getting a Nexus pass, you will speak to both the US and Canadian officials. Interview is fine, the waiting time is fine. Nothing much else to say except that if you are here for the initial Nexus interview, you will not be getting your Nexus pass right away so you will have to wait in the regular line when crossing the border into Canada. read more

I have been trying for months to schedule an interview. I tried to call multiple times for assistant with no reply and no return call.

This is the best enrollment center I've ever been to. Everyone was so friendly, efficient, and I was in and out so quickly! I made my Global Entry renewal appointment online and came during COVID times so I thought I would be waiting for a very long time. When I arrived, someone took my temperature before I could enter and verified that I had an appointment. Once I got inside, I was checked in and they checked that I brought all of the correct documentation. I then saw a officer right away and they took my finger prints, checked documentation, and did the interview, and took my picture. This whole process of checking my temperature to walking out the door was less than 15 minutes. This was my first time here and I think I'm coming here for vacation every 5 years to renew! It was such a pleasant experience that I usually dread. Parking: There is plenty of parking. Its located in with other businesses and they all had spots available. My husband and I had a pleasant experience at this Nexus Enrollment Center. I would highly recommend it to others and it is currently the only location for Nexus interviews in Washington state. You need to make an appointment through the Trusted Traveler Programs website in advance. I don't think there are any "walk-in" appointments available. We wanted to go on a Saturday, so we had to schedule ours a few weeks out. If you are flexible, you should be able to get in much quicker. They pretty much run on schedule here, so there is no need to show up more than 10 minutes before your appointment. If you show up really early, you won't be seen any earlier. If you need to use the bathroom, go to the public restroom at the strip mall (it is really close). They don't have one at the Nexus office. Once you enter the building, you should take a number (one per family). The display is huge, so you can't miss it. When they call your number, walk up to the window and hand the officer your identification (passports, drivers licenses) and your conditional approval letters. After that, you have to sit down again and wait for your name to be called over the loudspeaker. When it was our turn, we met with a U.S. officer and a Canadian officer. Both were very pleasant. They asked us questions, took digital fingerprints (no ink), and took our photos. This office also offers iris scanning, which is optional. If you wear contact lenses, you should take them out before you arrive. They don't have a good place for you to do this once you are there. The initial scan needs to be done without your contacts in, but after that, you should be able to wear them when you use the kiosks at the airport. We live in Seattle, so it took us 2 hours to drive to this office. We thought it was worth it because the Nexus card is awesome and valid for 5 years. We turned the whole thing into a day trip. We had lunch in Blaine and also went apple picking at a nearby orchard, which made the drive more worthwhile. read more

You would think a place like this would be sterile and at some office complex. Nope, it's at a mall! Well, strip mall but still better than a mystery office complex. The people here are very nice. We had a timed appointment, but we were nearly an hour early. We took a number and waited. They just called by number, and we didn't need to wait for our time slot. First time up to the window is to look over the paper work. Second time up is for the retina scan. Third time up is for finger-printing and general info. Super duper easy! We were out in maybe 30 minutes. We both have had a known traveler number, and we get to keep the same number switching to Nexus. Very, very convenient not having to update all our airline profiles! By the fact that you're reading this, you probably already know this pro-tip, but I'll say it anyway. Nexus covers Canada entry via cars AND Global Entry AND TSA Pre-Check AND it's $50 compared to $100 (GE) and $85 (P-C). Mind blown! Thank you Nexus! read more

the good - the staff for the most part are awesome. my second time thru (1st was for GOES, now for NEXUS). once i got into the interview it went quickly. you are essentially tagged teamed by the US & Canadian Agents. as you speak to one, the other is sitting adjacent listening. they are very rigid on appointments. i arrived an hour early for my appointment and the place was empty - but they insist i come back at my appointed time. so, had lunch on the coast & made it back in time. when i checked in, the agent asked for drivers license, passport, and birth certificate. kind of strange, i didn't have the birth certificate- (but give me a piece of paper & a crayon i'll create one for you ). fortunately my oversight and assumption that the passport (and previously vetted GOES card) was sufficient was enough to get me through the process. this agent was lacking in social skill, but i'm always nice to guys with guns. read more

Went there today, May 8, 2024. There were a few people sitting in the waiting area but no open in the line up. After maybe 2 min a lady asked if she could help and up I went. She asked if I had an appointment and I said no. She said ok, let's see what you need. I gave her a copy of the letter sent to me that I found on their web page which said my nexus was approved May, 2023. I just found the letter last week. She asked a few more simple questions. I gave her my passport and then a copy of my house taxes to verify my new address and my driver's license. She up dated my info, and said my new Nexus card will be mailed out in 1 to 4 weeks. I was looking forward to my trip to the Nexus Enrollment Center in the same way you look forward to going to the dentist to get a tooth pulled. You know you're going to feel better afterward, but the actual going there is an anxiety-inducing hell you wouldn't wish on your enemy. It didn't help that I read others' Yelp reviews before going, and I was sure I'd end up in some secret little room because I blinked at the wrong question or stuttered over my words when they asked me what my citizenship was! So call me pleasantly surprised. The wait was short (I did have a bit of a check-in snafu - there's a place at the entrance where you are supposed to take a number, but I didn't see it - nerves!), and the agents who questioned me were more than pleasant. It was more like having a friendly conversation than some sort of inquisition. I'm sure there's a psychology in that, but since I love friendly conversation I fell right into their trap! Three weeks later, I got my Nexus card in the mail and can now freely dash across the border whenever I feel like it. read more

If you have all of your paperwork in order and show up to your appointment on time, you will be in and out of here within minutes of your interview. Waiting at any government office can be a test of patience, and this isn't that different, but it's at least comfortable. Sure, you make an appointment for your interview, but you still have to take a number to see someone, which is more of a formality, as they seem to have plenty of people to greet you. Once they know why are you there, you sit for a while, while they do whatever government things they do, to get ready to chat with you. It takes a little while for them to get to you, but when they do, you walk up to a counter and they verify information that you provided. I'm sure they have done some massive background checks... and after the US agent has completed the conversation, you move a few feet, and talk to the Canadian agent, answering a few of the same questions. Done and done, it takes a just a moment, and you are done. Interview complete, and in a couple/few weeks, you get your new card. It's nothing to be annoyed with, or complain about, it's like going to the DMV, bring a phone with battery power to keep you occupied. Do I wish they could have taken me at my appointment time, and not 15 minutes after, sure, but it was smooth once they got to me. Worthy of a few stars. read more

If you plan on crossing the U.S./Canadian border often, the Nexus pass is worth it. Everything is super fast and easy. Sign up and send in your application online. Once you get approved, you schedule an interview thru the website. I highly suggest this Blaine location since the Seattle waiting list is months out. Although it seems like this location tries to accommodate walk-ins too. The wait time once I arrived was minimal. The interview was very relaxed and quick. It'll typically include a photo, restating your personal info, address, work, personal history with the law (if any), quick digital fingerprints, and a quick review of regulations. Overall if you're a decent human being and have no prior records, the process is a breeze. My only complaint was the wait time to actually get approved for an interview. Took almost 2 months to hear back from them. But I'm looking forward to less wait times at the border and quick TSA pre-screenings for flights. read more

First time Nexus applicant. I am always nervous about the "process" of anything unfamiliar. Con: The ladies at the entrance are kind of rude. Upon entering, a sign tells you to retrieve a number. As you're retrieving the number, the women raise their voices, and if you don't immediately realize they're talking to you, they roll their eyes and shake their heads in disgust. Really?! People are following signs for the start of the process. What are you so annoyed about? Remove the sign if you don't want people to be compliant. Pros: The Nexus suite is easy to find, identity, and has plenty of parking. The eye retina photo lady is super friendly and helpful. She happily provided handouts that the first two neglected to give. The guys at the counter were super friendly. Asked questions and made small talk. ~40 minute process on a Sunday morning. read more

I was actually really impressed by my visit here! I wasn't pleased about having to drive 2 hours from Seattle just to do my Nexus interview, but I was glad that almost all the people I interacted with at the enrollment center were friendly! The waiting area is spacious and the chairs are actually really comfortable! There is a large TV but nothing was playing on a Saturday evening. The number system is easy and quick. The only person who was in a poor mood was the person at the check in booth. He just had such an attitude and I guess I get it, since his job isn't the most exciting. Other than that, both of the officers I spoke to were polite and really friendly. They gave me great information about the Nexus program and answered my questions in a respectful manner. Definitely a lot warmer than some other officials at the airport or something. Overall, I wish there were an enrollment center closer to Seattle. I visited this Nexus Enrollment Center today, and actually had a great experience! I was a little on edge because in the past when I've crossed the Canadian border, it has been a little stressful. However, finalizing my Nexus enrollment today at this enrollment office was SO much better. The office was super prompt, parking was ample, and everything seemed to run like clockwork. First I spoke with a US Officer, and he did an awesome job of explaining the Nexus and Global Entry programs to me (they can be a little confusing). He asked totally expected questions, and was super polite and professional. Next I spoke with a Canadian Officer, who further explained the programs, and explained the iris scan to me (it's optional but I decided to have it to make Canadian airports quicker for me). She was also fantastic, and did such a great job of explaining things to me as well. I was VERY impressed by this office, and I feel like I have a MUCH better understanding of these programs after my visit! Definitely recommend them, they were fantastic! read more

Simply amazing... A government office open on Saturdays and Sundays. WOW! So I went in for my in person interview to get a Nexus card. My appointment was for 2:15, I arrived a little early at 2:05, took a number, and registered. At that point I waited for 5 minutes until the interview started (still 5 minutes early). I spent 5 minutes with the american customs official, then they passed me over to the canadian customs official, and another 5 minutes. I was out of there by 2:25. The staff, both the American and Canadian were friendly, and had better customer service skills than most government officials that I have come across. I think the Washington State DMV should take lessons from the Nexus enrollment center on how to get people through the process. The Nexus card being much more complex than a drivers license, but far more pleasant to get. I believe this is the first time ever that I have given a 5 star rating to a government office. The people in the front office were nice, polite and professional. The person who did the main part of my interview was anything but nice, professional or courteous. You will see a sign when you walk into the Blaine Nexus Enrollment center on the wall that says "attempting to assault a officer is a federal offense. I laughed when I read it on the way in. When I left I understood why they needed that sign. When I was called to the window for my interview I started by smiling and saying good morning and got a grunt back. No biggie. I was promptly asked why I was there but I was not sure if I heard correctly because the officer (I dont have his name but he was Black, 6' 2"+ Window #3) leaned toward me across the counter and spoke Loudly and Slowly. WHY ARE YOU HERE! I then said, To get a Nexus pass. He quickly said What?? with his hear turned towards me like he didnt hear me... I repeated, To get a nexus pass. At this point I explained I had already stopped at the Seattle office recently to ask some questions and I was told about (my understanding) Nexus enhanced that also helps you expedite through TSA and international flights. I was Rudely told there was no such thing, I didnt know what I was talking about and do NOT ask anymore questions because he would be conducting the interview and asking the questions. I simply said OK. I was asked why I wanted a Nexus pass and I explained my wife's home church is in the Philippines but one of the branches is in Vancouver. He asked why my wife was not with me getting a pass also. I said I didnt realize it was required for everyone in the car and I would be applying for one for her also. He then continued to ask my why I bothered to come without her. Again I said I didnt realize before then she needed one also. He kept saying it just didnt make sense and seemed suspicious. I was then asked a series of questions that I answered yes or no. At one point I was asked if I had ever been in front of a judge for any reason. I said Yes. He then told me when he asks me a question it is my job to explain myself and not make the interview harder than it needed to be. I said I was told to only answer his questions and I didnt want to speak out of turn and would wait until I was asked. The then got more aggravated and told me if I needed to help expedite the process. After finger prints and a few more questions he simply said (but also rudely) He was finished with me and handed the papers to the lady next to him. I moved to the next window and she continued the process explaining the rules and what I needed to read and understand. She was direct and to the point but never rude. I'm not sure if he was just having a bad day or if he was rude like this to everyone. I will be making sure this goes through several channels and hopefully the right person will see this and do something about it. read more

My experience at the Nexus office in Blaine was rather strange. First, I arrived on the wrong day. My name was called, so I presented my card for reenrollment. I was told to sit down again and was called up again and was told my reenrollment was good, I was all set. When I returned to the states from Canada after Christmas 2019, I was told my card was never registered and I was to call Nexus about it. I did, but had to leave a message, so don't know what will happen now. read more

This was so much easier than I thought it would be. They are super-organized and pretty friendly - however you do have to plan way in advance to book the Appointment online, as the 2 other options in Seattle have closed so now these appointment fill up quickly. We drove up there in 1:45 hours, took about an hour all told to get everything handled, then had lunch in Bellingham, a quick little hike, and headed back home to Seattle. Props to me for actually, finally, getting Nexus passes for my whole family - it also gives you Global Entry and is $50 for 5 years! read more

I cannot recommend this NEXUS enrollment center in Blaine enough! Here's why you should make the drive if you live in Seattle (and if you live north of the Seattle metro area, it's the obvious choice): - no wait to get an interview! Next-day appointments are *always* available. That monthslong wait for a Boeing Field appointment is a relic of the past. - they're open on weekends. I know, right? - parking is a cinch since this center is in a strip mall. There's also food/coffee available if you need to power up before or after the interview. - appointments actually happen on time and are quick. I was in at 8 AM (for an 8 AM appointment), and out with a verbal approval by 8:20 AM. - you can cross into Canada at the Pacific crossing and get your iris scans done on the Canadian side. If you want to do this, you need a weekday morning appointment because the iris scans only happen from 9 AM to 3:30 PM on weekdays (you can get the scan as soon as your interview is done--you don't need the card in hand). If you ever think you'll fly in/out of YVR, do it. - since you're so close to the border anywayyyy, you might as well make a weekend trip out of it to Vancouver, right? read more

Considering I paid money and drove two hours each way to get to the Nexus Enrollment Center, I would've hoped my card would have my actual legal name on it. I was very disappointed when my card arrived in the mail with an incorrect name as I'm not sure it's of any use since it doesn't match any of my documents. The US agent was patronizing and did not listen to me when I stated my name multiple times & thereby created his own name for me based on my maiden name & married name (with his creation not matching my previous or current legal name). Of course the nexus website doesn't offer any guidance on how to address this issue. Feeling very frustrated. read more
