Their outstanding care is attributed to a number of key factors. The essence of their successful delivery of services is they utilize a process care model. From end to end the focus is on providing consistent quality care, providing simple explanations for each individual task to the patient. We had a family member who had a severe cut due to a kitchen knife. It was very clear that this was a serious cut needing medical attention. We were concerned and started calling provider acute centers until we contacted NMFMC in Gurnee next to the Holiday Inn. Our regular provider (NSHS) was too busy and there were issues with the other acute care centers. We walked in and instead of waiting we got immediate attention. I also noticed that other people coming in also did not have to wait long if they also had serious issues. Even the chairs were more comfortable than other medical facilities. Because of the severity of the cut a number of medical care tasks were performed. It took a while. While waiting I walked up to one of the medical admens and asked how everything was going. The medical admen pulled a screen identifying and mentioning to me the particular patient care task our family member was expereincing and then telling me the next medical procedure that was performed and telling me how long I would have to wait. Having a healthcare IT background I was immediately impressed. This was the first time I had encountered process oriented patient care. To top it off the Dr A and the J shared some comic relief with our family member during the beginning of the patient - doc - nurse encounter. Laughter and happyness is a great pain deterrent, calming intial concerns. , My suggestion to anyone is even if Northwestern Medical is out of your network, when you have an immediate care need, drive the extra distance, spend a little more, and experience a great healthcare outcome! Northwestern Medical just might be a uncommon healthcare provider which has successfully converged the practices of healthcare, process, patient care, and empathy, generating great family - medical outcomes. I've seen a review on another website saying she has analytical brain of an engineer. She's very direct in her approach. I am not expecting my doctor to hold my hand. After looking at my foot for 15 seconds, Dr. Dooley said, I think it's a corn or callus. I knew it was much more than that. The area was dark, hard & painful. I was referred to a podiatrist. After noticing my frustration she references my blood pressure. She speaks about it being a concern then reads notes where my PCP noted normal. I told her those disparities are why I am not apt to take pills suggested. She continued what I call a barrage of poor bedside manners. I told her I get annoyed easily and I pray about it. Not only did she make inappropriate references to the issues that I was not there for, my insurance denied coverage because she noted I had a corn or callus, which is routine foot care. After explaining my condition to the receptionist even SHE knew it was more. Turns out I had a plantars wart highly contagious virus. Better care would have detected more.

There is no great…read morereason to have to schedule an appointment with the oncology specialists, but they make the process that much easier for the patient and care givers. The front desk staff has always been polite and professional and willing to assist with matters of insurance, referrals and appointments. Our nurse Josie who was assigned to be our point of contact during chemo, was understanding and always answered our questions. She and Dr. Kaiser were always available-even when emergencies came up and followed up with even minor issues and questions. Dr. Kaiser was understanding and kind and extremely knowledgeable treating my husbands rare cancer. She was there for everything. Our family cannot thank them enough! In the field on oncology there is a fine line between administering treatment but balancing the compassion needed to deal with this disease emotionally- The Oncology Specialists does this well.

(She also has a wicked sense of humor.) I can discuss anything with them and they have practical suggestions. They are very supportive. The front desk staff are brusque but efficient, effective, and helpful. When I call to make an appointment, it gets done really fast. I like them a lot. It's a lot to handle but they get it done. Now, I'm also keeping in mind my experience with hospitals and hospital networks. If people think the staff at WFM are bad, wait until it takes more than half an hour to make an appointment and the doctor spends all of 3 minutes with them. At WFM, I get care based on my needs. There's a reason I have been going there for decades.

My last visit in that time, I asked 2 questions that he answered within 30 seconds and I got a bill for each question I asked. Is this normal? Well after calling the office and hearing them say they'd check and call back because it "seems odd", I still don't know because this office NEVER calls back. I'm serious- they never call when they say they will. Bloodwork- "We'll call when we get it back" NOPE. I call weeks later. Sent for an x ray- twice... "We'll call as soon as we get the results". NOPE. I have to chase them weeks later, leave a message, they have to talk to someone, then they call with a vague, "it's normal"... and no alternative discussion or suggestions for the issues that sent me to the x ray in the first place.

He asks the right questions to make sure he can make the best diagnosis and he shares thoughtful suggestions to help you lead a healthy, balanced life. Fortunately, I don't need to see a doctor often, but when I do I know I will be well taken care of. I have never had to wait long and his staff is friendly and helpful.

They are very short on the phone, and rude, to say the least. At one appointment, the office girl was completely yelling at a patient on the phone. The yelling was so unprofessional and disturbing. The office staff can make or break a business. Since Dr. Donovan-Hunt is so good, we stay there; but if she wasn't, her staff would've scared us away a long time ago.
