When my Mom choose her doctor and began her chemotherapy everyone was very nice, couldn't be more helpful. She completed that phase Aug. 2009. In Oct she began radiation but at a different hospital. Tomorrow we have the scan to see if the tumors are gone. Needless to say there is much anticipation. Though quite robust at the start my Mom is no longer strong enough to walk on her own, it has actually come on rather suddenly after the radiation and she is also now dependent on oxygen. When we called the office today to alert them to the need for a wheel chair, (this is only the second time she's been out of the house since Dec. 31st). We were told that no accommodations could be made by anyone at Haematology-Oncology. She was further told by the phone receptionist, "We do not provide any service like that". I am stunned at the lack of consideration shown her! The receptionist offered no suggestions at all! We have no idea how we will transport her from a taxi arriving at the curb (parking facility is too far away from the 676 building) through the long lobby to the 21st floor offices of Haematology-Oncology. And then she must go to another floor for her scan and then arrive back on the 21st floor for the results, all in the same day. I hope that other families will not have to be treated with such rudeness. Though this group is affiliated with Northwestern, a renowned hospital, the lack of respect for the feelings of patients is unacceptable. It was the most inhospitable treatment we've received through this horrific ordeal.

I didn't see any other patients in wheelchairs or with oxygen, although there was a wheelchair parked in the corner of the waiting room with a big note on it that said "IN USE, PLEASE DO NOT DISTURB." Maybe it was one that a patient came in. I had my first appointment with HOA, and it went really well. I just wanted to write a review to share my experience with Dr. Claudia Tellez, and the staff. Their office seems very well organized. The front desk greeted me right away, answered questions, and asked if I'd had a chance to fill out the paperwork they'd emailed to me in advance. I had, so I handed it over. They validated my parking, so it only cost $10 to park in the garage at Northwestern hospital (instead of $26). The $10 rate for parking is good for 7 hours. The waiting area is very clean and bright, and they have water and coffee available. I waited about 15 minutes to be called in for a vital signs check. Then I waited another 10 minutes in the exam room. Dr. Tellez was a very good listener, and very thorough. I didn't feel rushed, and she gives off a very warm, friendly vibe. She was professional, asked me a lot of questions about my health history and lifestyle habits, explained things in detail, showed me the test results my doctor had sent over to the office, and explained what everything meant. When I mentioned tummy issues that I have already yelped about, she recommended probiotics to help heal the lingering symptoms, and I was happy to hear that. I feel like a lot of doctors don't give probiotics the credit they deserve. So on that count, she struck me as pretty forward-thinking. She explained what she proposed we do about my situation, which made a lot of sense to me. She was very balanced, but cautious. I gave up some more blood for testing right across the hall at the lab, and the woman drawing my blood was very nice and professional, too. So I have an appt with Dr. Tellez again in 2 weeks. I know it's just one experience so far, but it was a good one.

I needed to see a doctor fast to get a basic medical assessment done for my insurance at work. I…read moremet with Dr. Florian, who was great. His staff billed my insurance incorrectly and it was rejected. They then tried to bill me the full amount. My work provides a liason for medical difficulties who then got involved and was able to prove they billed my insurance incorrectly and that they would need to re-send the bill. They claim to have done that. 1 year later I get a bill from them for the entire amount again. I get my company liason involved, who is able to see that they never re-billed my insurance with the correct information (they were entering my name in backwards: last name, first, or vice versa, and the insurance system required the opposite). The head of their billing staff fought with me and with my medical liason until she (the liason) managed to get a copy of both rejected claims from the insurance company and see clear evidence that they were still doing it wrong. At that point, the Phoenix biller finally agreed to re-send. 6 months after that, the same thing happened again. It has now been over 2 years since I had my doctor visit, and I just got another bill in the mail today, still never having gone through my insurance...claiming I owe $750 to get a basic health assessment. I don't trust this office; I'm convinced at this point that their billing people are trying to perpetuate some kind of fraud, and I'm sick of being told every 6 months that my Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance somehow won't pay and that I should be responsible for a basic checkup. It's unfortuante because Dr Florian seems like a really upstanding guy.

(They now double bill each visit (via stacking/repeat billing), long story but my insurance fraud department has opened a case) Very sad really... They also have another building, located right across the street. I absolutely adore the doctors here. Been coming here for 5+ years, and each time I am treated with nothing but respect. I always get a call the day before ,confirming my appointment. I never have to wait, sometimes I would come way to early, and if they were not busy I would get seen right away. And i have been seen by more than one doctor here in both buildings. They have valet parking available. Not sure how much it costs since i park on the street being a cheapass. It is a huge building with many doctors, so of course people will have different experiences, depending on which doctor you see.

They have hours into the evenings on some days & are open on Saturdays, which is helpful when I need to go in and get my monthly injections. Dr. Szpindor is an incredibly knowledgeable and friendly physician who really takes the time to sit down and talk with her patients. The whole staff truly take an interest in each of their patients. Dr. Szpindor is also well-versed in nutrition.
