Dr. Abidi is wonderful. I have been a emergency Dept RN for almost 2 decades, so I am quite aware of Dr.'s and Surgeons. Those Providers that are terrible, good, and great. Dr. Abidi knows what he is talking about, what he is doing, and is a genuinely kind person. We were a previous client of SOAR and I chose for a second opinion because of politics/monies over the SOAR outpatient surgery center vs a hospital that has to be accountable for infection rates. Dr. Abidi did an assessment that not even the SOAR guru performed, starting from the lower back-femur-tibia-ankle-foot. I was patient of the famous Orthopedic MD in Truckee, Bill Krissoff, and this detail assessment reminded me alot of Dr. Krissoff. Yes his office is BUSY!!! But for a ballerina's ankle/foot injury, Dr. Abidi is by far worth being a patient patient. read more

I went in for what I thought was a hip issue and it was in fact my knee. Dr Abidi tried a few non-surgical solutions that would be a short term solution. The long term solution was a knee replacement due to arthritis. He did my second knee replacement- I was out the next day and the Dominican Health Care practice for joint replacement was fantastic. Dr. Abidi is the only doctor who diagnosed my condition correctly, after 22 years and multiple surgeons, osteopaths, etc. He replaced both hips October of 2013 with precision, skill, and an ease of expertise that comes only from experience. Sure, he might be late. I "fixed" this by only schedulng morning appointments. Everything he has said about my condition was 100% correct. It is now four and half months post op and I feel 20 years younger. No, Dr. Abidi did not hold my hand. He operated on my joints and gave me back my youth. The complainers on this site, need to go home and tell their mother what happened. It's HER job to comfort, console, and hold your hand. Dr. Abidi has an incredible work ethic that should be praised, instead it is criticized by whiny people that need counseling. If you want a surgeon who is precise, professional, and ridiculously experienced: Dr. Abidi is your man. You simply cannot argue with results! read more

My son was the ER patient After reading Janet G's review I realized from the date of 3-5-12 that my son's surgery is the reason that her appointment was cancelled that day. My son fell off the monkey bars at school and I was called by the school and told that I needed to come right away because they thought he had broken his arm. My husband and I rushed him over to Dominican's ER where we waited 1 hour before an x-ray was taken and another hour before a Dr. saw him. Once the ER Dr. looked at him the mood suddenly changed and I knew that something was seriously wrong, we were not going to get a cast and go home. We found out that our son's arm was broken, his elbow was dislocated, and he no longer had a pulse in his wrist. He was fearful that an artery had been severed in his arm. The ER Dr. called Dr. Abidi and he cancelled his day to rush over and perform emergency surgery on my son's right arm. My son was also pushed in front of 4 other scheduled surgeries because if they did not act immediately my 9 year old boy was going to lose his right arm. You can imagine the agony my husband and I were in while we waited to hear the outcome of the surgery. Fortunately, the surgery went well and my son still has his arm. The break was quite severe, he had to have 3 pins put in his arm and he has a huge scar. Dr. Abidi also did an excellent job of re-aligning the bones perfectly. Once the dust had settled I did think about the poor people who had been scheduled to see him that day and how inconvenienced they would be. I know that if it had been me, I would have felt very put out. But, I wanted to assure you that there was a good reason for the cancellation, and I will be forever grateful to Dr. Abidi for dropping everything to help my son. read more

My 68-yr-old brother had a hip replacement by Dr. Abidi and was back to playing tennis, etc. after healing. Dr. Abidi also repaired my 90-yr-old mother's both hip fractures. It's true that his office is busy so the wait time is sometimes a bit long, and he speaks very quickly. His PAs or assistants seem competant. The fact that he has several offices results in limited availability in any one location. I don't have other orthopedists to compare him with, but based on the above successful results, I believe Dr. Abidi knows his stuff. The arbitration agreement is probably not that unusual in this day and age of lawsuits. read more

Seeing so many bad reviews I wanted to make sure our story got written her as well. Our experience with Dr. Abidi was great. My wife had a bad leg break that required surgery (even confirmed with a second opinion). Thanks to Dr. Abidi, there was no need for a second surgery. I appreciated that he was on call night and weekend too to help me manage my wife's pain so it didn't get out of control. After meeting so many medical personnel over 2 weeks through ER visits and hospitals stays, Dr. Abidi's personality was a relief for us. He dealt straight with me, was professional and respectful. I was refered to this snake of a doctor by my then internist. The appointment ran 30 minutes, 25 of which were spent by this guy telling me how great he was. I was being seen for a non-diabetic ulcer on my foot which he barely looked at and then prescribed a totally inappropriate orthopedic appliance, which I returned to the vendor, telling him to stick it up Abide's ass. I am refusing to pay his bill, he can sue me, threaten me, or whatever, he isn't going to get a penny. read more

I went to Dr. Abidi based on a referral from a friend. I saw him (3) times regarding issues with my back/hip (primarily my back). Each time I waited an hour or more to see him. And, when you get into the exam room you will wait longer. If I'm required to be on time I feel my doctor should be on time. I understand the day can get away from you but over an hour is not ok. When I did see him he was quick to diagnose and I never felt listened too. He gave me a cortisone shot in my hip and said I had bursitis. This was effective for a short amount of time.I went in again, as the shot did not last and I never felt as though he was addressing my my left lower back pain that I kept pointing too. He did refer me to a back and pain management specialist, which I am grateful for. Dr. Abidi also asked me about my left knee, which has been hurting for a long time (not crippling but it hurts). I have not thought much of it because my back/hip has bothered me for almost a year. He ordered an MRI and after reviewing the MRI he said I had NO ACL (90% gone) and I needed surgery sooner rather than later. He made it sound as if one stumble could injure me further. Having ACL surgery would be a logistical nightmare for me, I panicked. It would require 10 days flat on my back and 4 weeks of crutches. I would also have to find the time to do this. He's the doctor, he knows best... right? With wise encouragement of friends and family I got a second opinion. Dr. Murray, who is in the same office told me that I DO have an ACL, I have some knee degeneration and what I need is PT. Maybe Dr. Abidi is good at certain diagnosis and treatment. I just feel he was quick to cut me open and how could two doctors have such different ideas about my treatment? I'm going to try PT first and see how that goes. read more

Dr. Abidi and Clay are the best. I use the Campbell office and yes they are very busy but that is to be expected with all the ortho's that make up the practice. Dr. Abidi took one look at my x-rays and off to surgery we went, his bedside manner is very factual and he lays it all out there so you can make educated decisions. He is very kind, and does not speak "doctor talk" to his patient, treats you with lots of compassion. Clay provides great care and attention to detail. Rounding out the team is Ray - another jewel and very knowledgeable. The front office staff is kind, a bit overworked and in tight quarters, but they maintain a great deal of professionalism in light of the chaos that is going on in the waiting room - always a smile and friendly. Worst Dr. Experience I have ever had. Fist off plan on waiting an hour plus in the waiting room. I went in with a painful arthritic ankle and after surgery I am a cripple. His only sugestion is to have an ankle fusion, the very procedure that I was trying to avoid. I have since gone to Dr. Olof at SORS and have had some pain relief with minor procedures. Out of work and needed a knee surgeon. Was told by his office, "Dr. Abidi is taking limited patients. If you write up a summary of your injury he will review it and get back to you whether he will accept you." I wrote up a full page, clear and concise summary. I'm a Fire Captain, so I am good at that kind of write up. After a week of no word, called the office. After 4 calls in 2 weeks, was told, "Don't worry, he WILL get back to you." After 3 weeks I had to move on. I was out of work and needed a surgeon. How long should someone wait for a simple answer? Was a complete waste of my time and did nothing but delay my care. read more

Dr Abidi takes forever when i go to see him i waited over two and a half hours for him and he never even showed up to when i went to see him over a weak ago on a monday morning So i got tired ove waiting for him and left. Phooo Phooo on the naysayers. Yes he is a busy surgeon so don't expect an office with 1 person waiting. I had a torn miniscus in my left knee that he diagnosed before the xray. The xray showed a torn miniscus and a knee cap that was disinegrating. I needed surgery and had no health insurance. This Dr. pointed me to Dominican Foundation to apply for assistance. They paid the hospital costs and Dr Abidi charge me about 2000 for the surgery, which I was allowed to pay off in payments. I had multiple leg and knee injuries, and was happy that Dr Ravalin in Monterey handled my knee surgery. But with lingering calf/ankle issues he referred me to Dr Abidi, considered by other doctors in the area to be the "ankle guy". It's very busy at the Ortho Nor Cal office and both times I waited an hour and overheard people checking in for Dr Abidi with the same appointment times, so he seems purposefully overbooked. However, he was EXCELLENT, did an xray and ultrasound in office on my first visit, and ordered an MRI at my request so we could really see and document the damaged area. And he recommended I see another specialist for vein issues (Dr Shaheen of Mountain View and Monterey) - something Dr Ravalin wasn't catching, but Dr Abidi did and in fact Dr Shaheen confirmed when he did his vascular ultrasound on me. I really wished I had seen Dr Abidi months earlier - I think I would have gained months of diagnosis and medical help. My physical therapy office also said they've heard good things about Dr Abidi and that they've seen alot of ankle replacement patients that seemed to do well with him too. If I have another injury, I would be happy to see him first and get his recommendations, he seems to be one of the best in the area. read more
