A little while later I got an email saying we were not at the correct LTV ratio to refinance. WHAT THE!!? Ok I am new to mortgages but I thought you could refinance at ANY time, not just when you have under 80% and can lose the mortgage insurance. Also, he should have known that while initially on the phone with him. I told him specifically what our mortgage was, how much I wanted for CC and what our home should appraise at. Btw, they check the value of your home based on websites like Redfin and Zillow and Trulia. We've done some extensive remodeled which obviously would not be reflected in the websites estimates- but that wasn't even taken into account. Our home was flat valued at market rate for the AVERAGE unit in our area. No thought of compensating for the kitchen gutting and remodel or the bathroom refresh, which can add serious value to equity. Not even a suggestion of an appraisal Just a flat out "we cannot help you" Hmm, someone out there will refinance us and get a good chunk of change doing it - and we will pay off our CC's and still have tons of equity -just not with these folks.
