This is such an artsy setting for an art studio! A charming house broken into mini studios makes for an interesting tour. We came here during a fairy event where you could purchase the supplies and make a fairy wand. Our daughter loved it. They were very patient with her and had great supplies to use. read more

I want to see Nickel Plate Arts get more love from Yelpers! NPA is an arts campus located just a few steps south of the Hamilton County Courthouse. It's a cluster of old buildings now housing artist studios, gallery spaces and more. On any given day, you can browse artists' studio spaces and connect with them in person to purchase art or commission a piece - I'm in awe of their talents! NPA is active in the local arts community and hosts engaging programming for all ages year-round. Take art classes, attend a First Friday gathering or bring your kids for kid-friendly activities like Superhero Day. Check out "Handmade in Indiana" in December, a gallery show/gift shop where you can browse local handmade goods, some from artists-in-residence at NPA. This place -- which happens to be a cluster of old buildings that house artwork and artists studios -- satisfies the peeping tom in me. No, not in that way, you sicko. What I mean is that Nickel Plate Arts is open for everyone to explore at their leisure, so visiting this place means entering houses, and climbing up stairs, and walking into real working artists studios. As in, real artists use these spaces to create their work, as is evidenced by the acrylics and paintbrushes and easels that are left out in the open for you to see. I'm kind of surprised that people like me are just allowed to tour this place, but that's what makes it so special: it's like you're getting a behind-the-scenes tour of an artist's daily life. In some of the rooms, the artists' artwork is displayed with price tags, if the mood strikes you to buy something. There is one person chilling at a table in one of the buildings, next to a table of complimentary coffee and tea, so I'm thinking this is the person you give your money to when you want to buy something. It's all very relaxed and zen, if you want to know the truth. It's like, here is a place to view beautiful art: come and look upon it for free and without any guidance. Now, this is my experience of Nickel Plate Arts during a casual Saturday afternoon -- I'm sure it's different when they have gallery openings and such. I also saw flyers lying about for different events that are held here. There is also a Little Free Library outside one of the buildings, which is awesome. read more

The Nickel Plate Arts consists of a couple buildings about a block south of the courthouse that are used as art galleries and studios. Like many galleries in the metro area, they feature exhibits each month and hold a "First Friday" event for the public to have a more social experience. One of the cooler things is that this place has artist studios in both buildings and if you go during the week, you may have the opportunity to see them working and/or talk to them about their works. There is also a small shop in the main building that you can pick up books or ceramics or make a purchase of a painting. All the staff and artists seemed very friendly and willing to answer any questions I might have. Note that these are old buildings, so they do require climbing stairs for visiting some of the studios. As this was my first time visiting this art gallery I was very pleased. The entrance is very welcoming, warming, and inspiring. With each new turn of the eye there was always something new to behold. As you move from room to room it is like being transporter from one land to another new land. The best part about this little gem is that they are kid friendly! How is that for fabulous! And I as I perused around I found out they have seasonal art events and gathering, some strictly for adults while others are more fun for the whole family. One more awesome find was as you approach this darling historic house, you find a cute little library that could double for a faeries mansion. This is a library that is free for all. I am really stoked about finally visiting this beautiful house in Historic Noblesville. I invite you all to visit this adorable imagination inspiring artists sanctuary as well. So I had the pleasure of attending Nickel Plate presents: In Perspective. Featuring local artist and their abstract art pieces. This event was particularly special to me because my son was one of the featured artist. Opening night was January 4th and runs through January 26th. Time 6-9 p.m. The event is free. They served light refreshments which I was incredibly impressed by the versatile selection. For a vegan like myself we are often forgotten about. Refreshments included: mixed veggies, hummus, grapes, crackers, cheese, meat, cookies, water bottles and wine. Seasoned artist were also present in their studious to showcase their work and all art was/ is available for purchase. I supported various artist by buying post card prints. Aside from paintings, there was a wood sculpturist, handmade knitted hats, drawings, handcrafted bowls and teacups. Everything was so beautifully done. There were 2 levels and two structures/ homes showcasing pieces. To top off the evening a live musician. Bring a couple of dollars to tip! He kept us entertained all evening. I also appreciated the host at the door to answer any questions. A lovely evening was had. read more

My older children go to MyArt, and every year Nickel Plate hosts their Art Show. I look forward to going, as the location is very close to home and the staff at Nickel Plate have always been so nice. My kids like looking at the various art studios...I believe Nickel Plate Arts is housed in 2 older homes, at least that is what I have seen. There is a cute courtyard between the 2 houses with lights strung across. I love quaint, historic feel! Nickel Plate Arts also hosted an event in May - painting one of Noblesville's downtown intersections. I took my older children and they LOVE that their paint foot prints are in the intersection for many years to come. The Nickel Plate staff person working the event was so nice to my kids and made them feel like they were famous artists. My family is big on the Arts, so it's super cool to have something so close that my children can be part of!!!!! read more

I am thankful for this arts organization and their desire to see artists and art based businesses thrive within their radius and beyond. The atmosphere on the campus is historic and approachable and the galleries and studios always have something to offer in an ever changing aesthetic way. The staff is helpful and friendly and their First Friday events are always super fun and filled with new art to enjoy and great music to listen to! read more
