The best burger I've ever had in my life. It actually makes me upset that I live so far away and will most likely never be able to come here again, that's how great it was!!! Cheap, fast, and fresh. Amazing service and had a cool retro vibe inside!

Single cheeseburger with onions; strawberry rhubarb pie

Quick service though forgot one cheeseburger and employee touched the top burger with his hands to count below. Missing cheeseburger was quickly corrected. Cheeseburger with only onions was great, would like to see a sauté to onions though they were somewhat softened. Other cheeseburgers were plainer and well received by adults young kids. Pie was great, not best but worth $3.

This classic restaurant perfectly encapsulates the "Midwest experience". Friendly staff, quick service, good food, and very reasonable prices. Definitely give a try to the cheeseburgers there and chat with all of the locals that frequent the place as well!

First time here with my sister-in-law and I will say it was delicious! I am not sure what I was expecting when I was told we were going to a "burger" place but we will definitely be back for more!

After many years of hearing about Nick Burger in Brooklyn South Dakota we finally went and the portions were tiny no flavor got the order wrong but quick and in-and-out. do not recommend it. a very expensive for what you got. you still wanna go to someware to get something to eat. Old style dinner, very plan.

Poor service very slow. Girl couldn't make change and staff kept touching their hair while handling food. Not worth it

Typical sliders...deep fried and squished! I bought lunch for 8 and it was well over $100. Too much for fast food.

A motorcycle gathering had closed the street outside, so we felt very lucky to get a seat when we did. The tap list here is impressive. I was thrilled that they had so many ciders to choose from, including several from one of my favorite cideries, 2 Towns. My husband was happy to have one of his favorite imports, Kilkenny, which is hard to find in the US, and followed it up with a local beer from Fernson, Ears Up. We started off with a South Dakota specialty, Chislic. I asked our server if it was more authentic grilled or fried, and she said grilled. They were really good! My husband had the Bourbon Bacon Burger with garlic fries. He really enjoyed it. I snagged a fry and it was tasty, with bold garlic. I had the pork tacos. These were not small street tacos, but very filling full-size tacos. A bit messy, but our server left us plenty of napkins. When she came by to ask if we needed anything more, we asked for the check. She said it'd be right out, and asked if we'd like free mini cupcakes as a thank you. She commented they'd been short staffed. I must say, everyone in there was working hard (the boss came by to check with us several times) and we have no complaints, only compliments. We then shared two mini cupcakes, one vanilla and one red velvet. It was a sweet ending to a really great meal.

Our waitress greeted us almost immediately and was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. We ordered the nachos, chislic, and a Cobb salad, and everything was spot on. The Cobb salad was fresh, and the blue cheese dressing was especially good. The nachos were a pleasant surprise--they use real melted cheese instead of queso, and they were loaded with toppings. Being from out of state, we were told we had to try the chislic since it's a South Dakota staple. It reminded us a little of Chinese-style spare ribs in flavor. It was definitely tasty, though a bit chewier than we expected. Even so, we're glad we tried it and would recommend it to anyone wanting to experience a local specialty. Overall, great service, great food, and a fun atmosphere on the rooftop deck. We'd definitely recommend Cubby's if you're in Brookings.

I did appreciate that we were seated right away (reservations took priority over walk ins) but it took about 10 minutes before we were handed waters and menus. It then took 30 minutes before we received our appetizer to which we were then told the rest of our food was done at the same time. Typically, I don't prefer to eat my appetizer at the same time as my entree, but in this case I worried with how slow of service we were receiving I wouldn't see my entree for another hour. Almost all of our food was amazing. I ordered a house salad and the Fillet of Beef with mashed potatoes. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and wild rice soup and the prime rib. He said the prime rib wasn't anything to write home about but it did the job. Overall, service was slow but everyone was super nice. I think they just need to hire a few more people which I know is difficult to do. I really hope this place can find the help they need because the food is so good and I want to see this place continue to succeed.

One cost $7 and the other one $8. After that I changed my mind and did not order an entree. I had to go back on my word that I was taking my grandson out for lunch. The place could have been a whole lot cleaner. I wouldn't say it was filthy but I wouldn't say it was clean. The menus were actually sticky and had food and gunk stuck to them. The waitress was perky and friendly and running around doing her best to keep everyone attended to. When I told her that the food she brought out was subpar and I wasn't happy with it, she said that it was fine but she would get me replacements. It was moments later she came back with food that looked exactly the same. I told her that I wasn't convinced it wasn't the same food... I swear it was just a burnt as burnt looking as before but it turned out she was right. This time the mini corn dogs were burnt on the outside and still frozen in the middle. My son-in-law, the chef, tells me that it was because the oil was old and rancid. Apparently this gives all food the appearance of being burnt with a bad taste. What I didn't appreciate was that I was asked to pay for food that anybody would have raised an eyebrow at and treated like I was the problem. The cook even came out of the kitchen and tried to nonchalantly check out who I was. When I met her I she gave me a dirty look and marched back off into the kitchen. Not recommended. I won't ever go back. If they don't know enough to know that they're serving people bad food or have the professionalism to own up to it when they have, then I have no time for them.
