We went here for Father's Day of 2024. We took Daddy and his uncle who we thought shouldn't have been alone on Farthers day, mourning alone. So, the kids and I surprised both of them and took them to eat dinner together as a family. This place had so many options !!! So, there is something for everyone in the family. Our food was delicious, the chicken was moist. Everything was flavored so well !!! It was hard not to eat it all. The waitress was so incredibly sweet. The kids kept changing their mind for their drinks and she wasn't pushy or in a hurry to walk away. She stayed to chat every now and then to make sure the boys had time to decide. She made sure our food was to our liking and she brought us everything we requested after our food. The place felt so warm and cozy. Kind of like when you're at your grandmas house or at your own house in your little cozy area or zone with your favorite snack and drink. At the entrance they have a huge board with the special of the day or week or deals. I would definitely recommend this place !!! read more

Where do I begin. My husband and I went to Nick's on Thursday night and I ordered the Ravioli because they didn't have the lasagna and my husband ordered the Sausage pizza because they make their own sausage on Thursdays. Both were very good. I didn't take any pictures on Thursday but we went again tonight and he got the Ravioli and I got the Chicken Alfredo. Again, both were delicious. It came with a salad and homemade bread sticks. OMG! The Mother sauce is spectacular in its simplicity. Our goal is to try everything on the menu. If you are in the area and want some great Italian food, go, you won't regret it. read more

While visiting Beuna Vista recently, tried this place late one Thursday evening. Not impressed, very disappointed in service - they didn't care that they prepared twice as much as I ordered - probably because the young girl who took my order on the phone could care less about my questions and spoke to me as if I should know the answer - as if I were a local. When I mentioned that I didn't order as much as they had prepared, she just shrugged her shoulders and proceeded to argue with me. I'm fairly certain it was the owner who was standing next to her that didn't say a word, just stared at me. I paid in full, took the pizzas and again, extremely disappointed. Homemade sausage - disgusting, spicy, but no flavor except for grease. Specialty pizza with all toppings was barely cooked. Even worse as left over the next day. Trashed is all. $50 worth of pizza and I hope I never have pizza that bad again. read more

Finding an authentic Italian restaurant in El Paso, TX is hard enough so we never figured we would find one in Buena Vista, VA of all places. We ending up heading over to Nick's with some family we were visiting and to be quite honest were a bit skeptical of how good an Italian restaurant in the small town of Buena Vista could be. But we are not food snobs and love to try quirky and new places so away we went. The service was good and the entree is just as good. We got the lasagna and the egg plant parm. They both came with a salad which consists of a bit of lettuce and some dressing splotched on. So it's safe to say the salad is nothing to write home about. Other than that we left happy and our stomachs full. Now if they can only learn to clean the seats. My least favorite thing is to get back to where I am staying only to find tomato sauce on the back of my shorts from a chair that had not been cleaned properly. And why must all restaurants find it necessary to put loud TVs everywhere. If I want to eat and watch TV I'll get take out. read more

We drove past Nicks and almost went to some fast food place, but I read the reviews and we came back. It was a good call. The restaurant is dated in decor but clean and the staff are very welcoming. I'm pretty sure it was Nick who served us and it was a good omen that his accent was italian! We ordered Lasagne and I ordered the Baked Ziti. We got our salad and bread sticks and the lettuce was fresh. I strongly recommend the homemade Italian dressing. It's a winner! Just add some grated parmesan! Our meals were satisfying and we had no complaints. I prefer my sauce a lite spicier and my Ziti could have been baked longer but that is minor. The lasagne was tasty and well made. We will definitely eat here when we return, as our son is in college here. For a small town, it's a good choice! read more

We had the lasagne which was served warm, not hot. We were expecting traditional lasagne with ricotta (not just mozzarella) and thicker than the one inch this was. The salad was mainly iceberg and the Italian House dressing was mainly vinegar and tasteless. We ordered sodas and discovered that only one refill was allowed. The prices were too high for the low quality. Also the restaurant felt as though it was not heated and we weren't even near the windows, bring your hats and gloves. In addition The bathrooms were nasty, in dire need of restoration. We were passing through while traveling but if we lived in this town we wouldn't go to this restaurant again. read more

This nondescript building across from the Modine plant may not look like much, but this is the place for pizza in Buena Vista. Indeed, this may very well may be the best pizza in the surrounding county, which is saying something because with three colleges there are lot of pizza places per capita. Great pizza begins with great dough, and that is what, in my mind sets Nick's apart from the competition. But that's just the start. On that great foundation they use really fresh high quality ingredients for their toppings. There's just something about their mozzarella that reminds me of the really good pizza pies of New York that you just don't find elsewhere in this corner of Virginia. And Nick's is also home to the very best hamburger in Buena Vista! Nick's has a really good lunch special menu. The owner (John, not Nick) maintains a bright, clean, friendly restaurant. read more

We had to go waaaay out of our way (from the highway) to get to Nick's - got a pizza to go. This pizza was GREAT. It was very greasy, but we sopped up the grease from the top and ate the whole thing in one sitting. Absolutely WONDERFUL pizza - even worth the extra driving time! They lost a star for less-than-friendly staff. We were in a hurry, and planned to eat in the car - but they had no paper plates and were a bit hesitant to allow us to use take-out containers. I felt like we were interrupting them by picking up our food. No one even smiled. Well worth it, though. Would get pizza there again in a heartbeat. read more

My wife and I went to Nick's Italian Restaurant in Buena Vista, VA together for the first time. Greeted and seated immediately. My wife enjoyed the Ziti Eggplant Parmesan. Very generous portion. I had the Mosticcoli, crepes stuffed with ricotta. Excellent! Homemade, soft baked, warm bread sticks with butter. Will be going back for more. Although it is an Italian Restaurant, I wish the owners would have weekly specials to introduce the community to Serbian/Croatian Cuisine. read more

Stopped in based on awesome reviews. Had the chicken cacciatore. Would have been excellent, but they put a pile of wet pasta on the plate then poured sauce on top, leaving a plate of watery sauce on the plate. Try tossing the pasta in a saute pan with the sauce in it would be very good. Unfortunately, no easy fix for the lasagna, guessing it is individual frozen portion (1 inch thick, about 8 x 10), again watery sauce from the overly wet pasta, but just a musshy mess. Nice, clean place with a nice local feel and lots of regular locals. read more
