There's a reason this store has such low ratings. The staff clearly need better training. Today I had one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. The tall, slim male cashier with glasses at register 11 rolled his eyes at me, deliberately slammed the keyboard while processing my purchase, ignored me, and intentionally delayed helping me. He seemed impatient from the very beginning. What bothered me even more was that he picked up and flipped my phone to scan the barcode without asking for my permission first. I found this extremely rude and disrespectful of my privacy. A simple 'May I?' would have been basic courtesy. When it was time to pay, he angrily tossed the receipt at me instead of handing it to me politely. His behavior was rude, disrespectful, and completely unprofessional. This was not a shopping day for me, I had a medical appointment in the mall and I decided to pick up a few things at No Frills. Note this is my regular No Frills. My Total was $85.74. Normally I would skim my receipt, being in a rush to get home, I did not bother. On reviewing the receipt, I was charged for 3 tins of Grace Ackee. I needed 3 but picked up 2, only because a hand written sign was posted saying, "Limit of 2". Unable to return to the store, I decided to call, unfortunately for me, no listed phone number or direct email for Nick 's No Frill. This No Frills is not my usual and favorite location. Not a store which I describe as enjoyable to shop as customers here seemed to be all in a high stress level. The sole purpose was to grab as many as you can up to the limit of discounted special of the week. It was a mob scene. The whole family with 4 + members each getting 4 bags of rice. People pushing each other because the quantity was limited. For a banner grocery store under Loblaws, I found this location is not as clean. A pass for me unless I really need something? read more

Tonight I had to pick up some chicken legs and thighs for tomorrow's lunch and this No Frills was on my way home. This store is clean and clear signage of products & prices made it a good shopping experience. Check-out took longer than I expected but that's because I happened to shop at a peak time. Nevertheless, the queue moved along and staff was courteous. Nick's No Frills is on the TTC bus route at the intersection of Kennedy Rd and Sheppard Ave E. There's plenty of parking at Agincourt Mall too. read more

The cashier did not allow me to scan my card to earn Optimum points even though I specifically asked her. Not sure if she was being lazy or if she was told to do that by management. I only gave 1 start as there is no negative starts. I went there last Friday as I was around the area. The place was very dirty, totally overcrowded to a point that people were literally on top of each other - no restriction for the amount of people, no sanitizing, no social distancing. Their staff were lack of training and overcharged me on the products. After I went home and discovered their mistake, I called with no answer. Called back on Monday and the lady from the head office basically wanted to get me off the phone with no interest of hearing about the condition of the store etc. She told me I had to go back to the store asking for the manager for my refund. I was there today (will be my last time there) asking for the manager. I was told the name of the manager is Nick. The lady was the go between and kept asking me questions as Nick did not want to come see me, the customer. I was very surprised how she talked to this person Nick as she was beyond polite to him and seemed to be walking on egg shells. Finally I asked her why was she being the go between and she said Nick was very busy and was on a conference call. I said then I could deal with another manager or a supervisor. But then I could hear someone shouting through the phone and the lady told me Nick would come see me. In less than a minute I saw a tall white man rushed over, towelling over me with his arms on his hips with very loud voice saying "what's your issue?" No hi or anything. I tried to tell him about my experience on Friday but before I could finish my 1st sentence, he shouted "that's non-issue. "YOU PEOPLE" just like to complaint." I asked him what he meant by "YOU PEOPLE" and he threw his hands up and rolled his eyes then said "ALWAYS YOU PEOPLE". I have never met this man until this afternoon. I didn't like his aggressive behaviour, both verbal and nonverbal towards me. I told him I would not be dealing with a racist person even if that meant I would not get my refund & I would not shop at that No Frills from now on. He laughed and shouted "that's fine. Have a nice day. No Frills & Lablaws don't need You People." After I left the store, I was being approached by 2 sets of people asking me what happened and shared their experience with me - I was told Nick was the owner of the store and he routinely shout at customers that are of color. Furthermore, I was also told that when people returned goods and he only would give them part of the money back and not full refunds as he was collecting a fee from his so called inconvenience. I told the 2 sets of people what he did were wrong and showed them how to contact the head office as I will be doing the same. I have no problem supporting Canadian businesses but I have problems of being belittling, disrespect, discriminate and being put in an unsafe environment. read more

This is my closest No Frills. Their chain is described well by the name they behold - there are literally No Frills attached to this place. It's your basic grocery store to the very core. They carry the necessities and a few bits and bobs assorted randomly. The location is convenient because if you can't find what you need you can just run on over to Walmart or Shopper's Drug Mart nearby. From what I've seen, it's usually pretty busy. I can't really pinpoint a time when I've come and it isn't hectic. Things are shelved in the appropriate places and it's got a decent organizational system going on. The shelves are decently stocked, though sometimes you'll have to exercise stealth and nab the very last item of its kind. Cashiers work diligently, though they aren't exactly friendly. With the amount of people shuttling in/out of this store it seems they're doing the best they can - so I can understand why some may be sporting frowns. read more

Lines are always very long and I've returned home with home containers on more than one occasion. Granted, that's more customers than the company -- but to return/exchange I need to sit in a long line since only 1 lane handles this issue, and it's a 1-10 item lane -- which means I have to stand in line twice if I want to also purchase groceries. I end up just throwing out the opened items instead. Money in the trash, but less headache. If you have a car just drive over the to Lawrence/Victoria Park location -- it's a better store when it comes to pretty much everything. read more

I generally don't like to shop at No Frills because they're usualy a) chaotic & busy, b) messy & unorganized, c) limited in the products I normally buy, & d) little to non-existant organics section. On a Sunday afternoon this place was definitely hopping with shoppers. Luckily we only needed some basic groceries & they had everything we needed. Cashier service was fine. She wasn't friendly but she wasn't rude either. Some of the shoppers were a bit slow moving & clogged up the cashier lanes as they took their sweet time packing their grocieries up. At 8:30 this morning, I was there and had cut my finger. It was bleeding, and I asked a cashier if she had something to wrap around it - I was only expecting a piece of a paper towel. The kind lady named Sophia quickly went and came back with not only a band aid, but an antiseptic wipe. That was incredibly thoughtful, and lesser people would have just said no and not left their area (there was no one in line). This loblaw bannered supermarket, is as the namesake suggestes - the bare minimum in everyday grocery. I live across the street and can even see the housewives rush around 3 pm, to get dinner started! I shop here often, but only because of the proximity. I wouldn't reccomend this supermarket. They literally display items in the cardboard, staff aren't very friendly, and shopping baskets are scarce. Line up are usually long and the cashiers barley great you. The value, however has boosted their rating to 3 stars. I don't like the new logo, however. In conclusion, at no frills you win some, you lose some. Maybe it's just me? read more

I really like shopping at Nofrills its a great place to buy groceries and they carry the presidents choice line which is one of my favourite brands. I would have given this location 5 out of 5 stars if it wasn't for the rude service I received this weekend (Sept. 02/2012). To elaborate, we had gone in to purchase groceries and return 2 sauces that we had purchased from another location. The sauces were not open, but we realized it was the wrong type- that was the basis of the return. When we approached the cashier to make the return, she stated that she couldn't do the return because we had purchased the sauces from another no frills. She then, in a rude manner, referred us to the back of the receipt and told us to read it, the back of the receipt mentioned nothing about not be able to return at other stores, however it did refer us to a sign in the store. As I read the sign, I noticed that it reiterated what was at the back of the receipt. So I reproached the cashier, and asked to speak to a manager. When the manager came he refused to make the return and referred us again to the back of the receipt and the sign in the store. At this point I was upset, and frustrated because the manager started saying that "its not the stores policy to take merchandise from another Nofrills because each one is privately owned (franchised)", he continued on to state it would cost his store money and that I should drive to the other Nofrills to make the return. This is when I told him that the stores policy is in contradiction with the corporate policy which is clearly printed at the back of the receipt and posted in the store. If the store has there own policy it should be printed and posted and accessible to the customer, so I asked for a copy of the return policy he was quoting from, and he couldn't produce such a copy. So, after arguing for five minutes he made the return for me. This was a complete and utter wast of time and ruined my day- I felt like I was arguing with an uneducated moron who clearly doesn't know how to read because had he been able to read he would have understood what the corporate return policy is. read more

The store clerks are generally helpful and I think they deserve 4 stars. On January 21, 2013, I had a really bad experience with the managers who deserves negative stars. This morning I found my 1% Dairy Oh! milk tasted a bit sour. So I decided to use it to make Indian tea (which uses a lot of milk to boil the tea) to see what would happen. The milk just turned foamy and then chunks of sponge like stuff. It was the last bag of the 3 small bags in a big bag, a total of 4L. The tag of the bag indicated it was to be good until January 26, 2013. I took the bag, the tag, the original receipt and my blackberry that had a picture of the chunks of sponge like stuff to the store. A clerk referred me to a manager who passed my receipt to his boss who happened to be there. Here's what was wrong in the way they treated a customer. The manager said that the milk was bought on January 6th and the receipt indicated that it can be exchange or refunded within 14 days. I said that the tag indicated that it was supposed to be good till 26th. The boss said that the expiry date on the tag meant nothing if I had left the milk sitting on a counter for 2 days. I said that I did not leave it on a counter for 2 days. The manager asked me how many times a day I opened my refrigerator. I said a few times a day. The boss said that he could refund me only for the one small bag of milk, which the manager calculated to be about $2.50, 1/3 of the total of $7.17. The boss insisted that he would refund only $2.25. And the manager laughed with amusement throughout the time while the boss told a clerk to refund me $2.25. I think the real cause of my milk went bad way before its expiry date is most likely that it had not been properly stored at cool temperature on the store's shelf, storage or during transportation. Or the temperature in the milk section of the store was too high as they were all exposed. I remember one no frill store in the Junction - High Park area where they put stripes of plastic drapes over the milk section to help keep its temperature low. This is not done at Nick's No Frill. The boss and the manager were rude in their interaction with me and therefore lost my respect for them. My first reaction was that I would never shop at this store again. Then I thought that maybe they deserve a chance to see this post and perhaps to reflect on their behaviour and do better next time with their customers. You'll be the judge. read more

I regularly shop here twice a week. Meat dept is clean but more expensive than Chinese stores. Veg dept can be hit and miss, depending on the time of day and day of week. Bread dept is pretty good and well stocked. Dairy dept is fairly clean and usually well stocked. Sometimes their trucks don't come in on time, so ask if you don't see it.They often have 30-40% off stickers on products soon to expire. I watch the expiry date of meat because sometimes they let it lapse. Chicken legs are fresh, not frozen. Staff are helpful and I have not experienced any rude behaviour. I've sometimes walked into their back area looking for staff. Nick, the boss, is often walking around and is approachable. Say Hi to him and tell him if you have any issues. They only take Mastercard for a credit card. No Visa. Cashiers can get backed up quickly, so expect this on Sat/Sun afternoons. Their shopping carts can be pretty bad. Many of them have stuck wheels and are not maintained. Price matching to a competitor flyer and product returns have been no problem. They used to price match their local Chinese competitors but no longer. Pity. If you cannot price match, because they've run out of stock or they do not carry the same brand, go to Walmart, where they will. Overall, I like the store and the staff. If I did not, Nick would hear about it. read more

On Nov 07, 2017 at approximately 16:00-16:30 I lined up at the last cashier lane. A older lady of east indian decent was servicing the lane. I walked in the lane quickly with the black rolling basket as I was in a rush and had not taken out my groceries yet. As I was unloading the groceries on the belt, the cashier beside the lane I was in, a big boned rude caucasian lady, spoke to my back and said quite rudely "You cant take that cart outside" I turned around and said "ok". Then my cashier butts in and says "yes please put the basket back". I looked behind me and there were several people lined up and I didnt want to intrude for them to move so I can put the cart back. So after I paid, I just pulled it in front of me and put it to the side so I could gather and organize my groceries first and then bring the cart to the other side of the cash where there are no people in the way. However, before I got chance to do that, the even more rude east indian cashier, raised her voice saying "put the basket back now" and I responded "wow, take it easy...holy" and I returned the basket to the other side of the cash and lifted it over the rail. I hope the manager at this store will re-evaluate the cashiers that they hire, because I wouldnt want a cashier working for me that does not know how to speak to their customers properly in a respectful way. If you don't know how to respect people, you shouldnt be working in an environment where youre dealing with many types of people with different personalities. I was quite calm in how I dealt with the disrespect, however, some other customer may have escalated the issue even moreso. read more
