We found the staff here very helpful both in the shop and on the range. Range staff was strict and had clear rules for safety (some reviews suggest they are overbearing, but I think they keep a great balance of safety and access to a fun shooting experience). Range staff were also Super helpful! I had an adjustable gas block, and I was under-gassed. The Range Officer lent me an Allen wrench to adjust my gas block. Very kind! Great day shooting! read more

Every one was helpful and did what they could to make your trip to Nicks enjoyabel! Just left the the gym and was telling two shooters how to get there and what to expect! I was told that they will be trying it out before long! Just that I just found out week day rifle is on again. This place is super cool. Nothing fancy outdoor range with paper targets, no metal targets I believe. The workers make sure you're safe and keep a look out on everyone. They are much more lax that other ranges I've been to which is both good and bad, depending on the safety level you're looking for. The service was quick and nice. Parking is on gravel, you enter in the small portable building, sign waivers, pay, pick your targets and meet the supervisor outside for him to choose your spot. We went Sunday morning around 11 and it wasn't too packed, we were able to get a spot immediately. Inside staff was friendly, they gave us a couple rules and said see safety guy outside. Safety guy outside was a stuck up asshole. There's absolutely no rules posted anywhere, and the rules they have are reasonable ofcourse but very, very inconsistent! Would not recommend to anyone and especially not to new shooters. Take the drive elsewhere. Save yourself the embarrassment and rude service. On top of that it's a very low quality range itself, muddy, and everything's rotten. read more

My fiancé wanted to take me the a gun range. We chose nicks! It was my first time ever coming to a gun range let alone shooting a gun. Nick was very helpful with showing me how to handle the gun , gave me some pointers and tips! Nick's Shooting Range is a solid choice, with good staff, and far and away the most fairly priced ammo/gun shop that I've seen in the New Orleans area; the markup over bulk outlets is minimal, and the selection is good. The range itself is small, with an attentive and proactive range safety officer. The benches and target stands are well maintained, with spots to place stands at close range for pistol shooting, as well as normal 25 yard increments out to 100 yards. The range is set up for rifles and pistols, but does not have facilities for shooting trap/skeet with shotguns. The only caveat about visiting this range is that they have a "One second between shots" rule, so it may not be the best option if you are hoping to practice defensive shooting drills with a faster cadence of fire. As of January 2019, range fees are $22 per person, with no time limits, and the option to buy a year membership. read more

the staff inside the shop are friendly and the prices are Decent-ish. the staff on the firing range are the opposite. they are stuck up and think they know more than any or everyone. I deployed to Iraq and Syria twice and was a part of the sniper section. and they talked to me like I can't shoot a pistol past 5 yards? "you need to warm up at 5 yards, you not going to be accurate at 10" like you don't know me. and calling other people stupid for not knowing 2 of your 100 rules when you don't have them posted anywhere. definitely won't be returning to this range. read more

This is only the second shooting range I've been to. I like that this one is outside and you don't feel so closed in. The lanes are pretty open so you do have to be careful when you set up your target to not cross into another lane. The price here was much cheaper than the last one we went to especially on fun rentals. They were very helpful with letting me switch out guns to see which one I really liked because they found out I was trying to see what kind I wanted to buy. They have a nice size "table" to set all your supplies on while shooting. They also offer memberships so that you don't have to pay full price every time you go if you plan to go often. Just make sure when you are looking for the road it's on you pay close attention, the sign is hard to see. We will be back for sure. read more

Really the only outdoor shooting range in the area, without having to go to the North Shore. Maybe a 45 minute drive from uptown, definitely a great way to spend an afternoon. Bring your rifles and shotguns too, as this range goes all the way out to 100 yards! They do have some guns and ammo for sale as well as paper targets and other shooting accessories. Staff is friendly and professional. If it is your first time shooting there make sure you follow all of the instructions of the range official manning the firing line. He has a very important job and he takes it seriously, so help the guy out and you won't have any problems. Kind of out in the middle of nowhere so pay close attention to your GPS as you get closer, the driveway comes out of blue along the highway, not much signage. Other than that, it's a great place to get the guys and girls together for some shooting fun! read more

Came here with my husband and our friend. Husband has a new gun and of course wanted to shoot. The place is out to itself but I understand why. There's a sign by the driveway. The owner, Nick, was funny and helpful. After he found out it was my first time shooting he let shoot a 22 free without having to pay a gun rental fee. He explained everything well. The range itself is an open field with stations. We had to get use to their commands but caught on quickly. Definitely will be returning. read more

Great range to go to by yourself but they charge the same amount for every person on the same lane, 3 people on one one taking turns shooting one gun cost the same as 3 individuals going by themselves and renting 3 different lanes. read more

After reading all the reviews I was hopeful my husband and I would have a good time but sadly we ended up leaving before we even got to shoot. It was our first time to ever go to a range and there were no signs or rules posted anywhere. The range master told us which booth to go too and just left us there, after about 10 minutes of just standing there, everyone had stopped shooting so my husband went out to put our targets out so we could shoot, which is what we paid to do. Instead of saying something like "sir please come off the range until..... or better yet, when we first got there he should have said something to the effect of ok wait right here until I come back or until this or that, but there was none of that, he simply told us where to go and left us and then when my husband went out to put our targets up, he hollers what's wrong with you? You're walking on to a hot range come out of there! So now my husband is fuming, we got left to ourselves for several minutes, not given any directions or rules to follow or what to do or what not to do and then when we made a move to do something other than stand there, we get hollered at and embarrassed so we just left. It might be a nice place to shoot if you have been there and know the rules but if you have never been there before and you don't know the rules, I guess you are expected to just stand there for who knows how long, not doing anything until they direct you to do it. So we basically paid to be hollered at and embarrassed and then left. read more

Range is falling apart. Everything is rotting away and has rusty nails poking out. Super muddy. Has weird firearm restrictions. Like no AR pistol unless I illegally put a brace device and shoulder it. He suggested I actually do that because they "will consider it a rifle". Yeah, the ATF will also (SBR) and that's a felony! I drove all the way here to sight in my 10.5" AR pistol just to be turned away after I called the day prior about it. You can shot pistol, you can shoot Rifle, but you can't shoot a pistol in rifle caliber? On neither the rifle nor the pistol range? They call themselves gun people, but I don't really think they know much about guns at all! read more
