He agreed to pick us up and then drive us home later that night. On the way to our farm, he ran into an accident and traffic was being rerouted. He called and kept us updated as he took a different route, which I so appreciated. Later that evening he was there to drive us back. He was pleasant, courteous and had a good sense of humor. The car was clean. I can't praise him enough.

The carriage and horse were in great condition. The driver was very friendly, neatly dressed, handled the horse so well we could tell they loved working together. We tried the special water, not sure it cured anything, but that was also a unique experience. The way the driver conveyed the history of the area made it all the more interesting. If we are back in the area we will book another carriage ride with Loon Meadow Farm.

But what really makes this hotel is the proprietor, Joe. He is warm, friendly, and witty. He is low-key and provides a type of customer service that is uniquely his own. This place wouldn't be the same without him. He gives this hotel its kind personality. Joe is a Host to his guests, as opposed to a Hotel Manager. He provides his guests with bikes, as well as umbrellas when it's raining. -- He thinks of everything. Further, Joe is an animal-lover. He was instrumental in founding a retirement place for race horses. The place is called Old Friends. It is for older horses who have completed their racing and breeding years. This place wasn't as awful as I had envisioned due to the rural area that it was in. With that…read morebeing said it was rather last minute getting into this place because of an event that was going on in town. I ended up getting the room above the kitchen. Let's start off with the room above the kitchen: - The kitchen door has 100% access to our room. If they had employed a pervert that worked in the kitchen and didn't know it, the customer would be in serious trouble! All of our belongings were up there and accessible to anyone who opened the kitchen's back door. - During dinner hours I heard all the orders being shouted and which customer they didn't like. - I could hear the kitchen staff cleaning the dirty dishes/pots/pans - During the middle of the night we heard a door slamming shut...didn't know if it was the kitchen door that lead to our room or if it was just another door that echoed. It was very unsettling. I shot up in bed expecting a greasy man climbing the stairs with a kitchen knife... but that never happened...thank goodness! The bathroom: - I know toilet paper is expensive, but to supply a spit through 50 cent roll was just mean. - One roll was supplied...could have been nice to have at least 2 incase of an emergency. The room: - There was a t.v. with cable, air conditioning that was loud as heck and rattling, a small refrigerator and a microwave...oh yes, there were forks, knives and spoons. - No plates or bowls, but there were forks with food stuck on them, spoons with splashes of oil, and knives that were ok. The couch: - There was a love seat in front of the t.v. with a cover on it. They didn't wash it because there was dog/cat hair in the crevices. Eww. Would I go back: If there was seriously no other place to go then yes, but I would bring my own toilet paper, ear plugs and a gun.

Perfect location for time in Glens Falls but close enough to Lake George and Saratoga Springs that other guests covered all three locations in one day! The Inn itself is beautifully restored by its new owners who are clearly experienced in Bed and Breakfast management. The rooms are clean but simple details in decoration make it unique. Two of the rooms have gas fireplaces, we enjoyed the ease and beauty of them in our room. The lines, pillows and towels were definitely a step above what you find staying in a hotel. Appreciated the individual controls in each room for comfort. A nice touch was the small fridge in the closet. It didn't take away from the ambiance of the room but added a feature many Bed and Breakfasts don't have. Breakfast was awesome! Coffee and tea are available at any hour. Fresh coffee is out at 7:30 and breakfast served from 8:30-10. I truly enjoyed tea from a beautiful tea cup and saucer. Nancy and Bill served fresh fruit, I was impressed with the variety they offered for April. The scones, maple one day we stayed lavender the next were cooked to perfection. There were a variety of choices breakfast. The first morning both of us went with the apple crepe with caramel sauce and fresh whip cream.... yummy! I strongly suggest adding the side of Oscars sausage! The second day I went with the poached egg on an english muffin with the sausage. Cooked to perfection. A great getaway for seeing the area but as someone who lived ten minutes away it was a great opportunity for a staycation. Nancy made some great suggestions for activities based on the guests and their specific interests. Nancy and Bill made some great dinner suggestions and even took care of reservations for guests.
