I have been going to Dr. Carnicella's office over the last ten years, and she and her staff could not be easier or better to work with. I have had pretty substantial dental issues, and at every turn Dr. C and the staff has worked diligently with me in terms of scheduling, the procedures themselves, and then payment plans after those procedures are done. I know 2 people who went to her for implants the pain was unbearable she wouldn't stop to give them a break not even when assistant spoke up to stop. None of the implants took now both out over 13 grand and cant get dentures to fit in mouth. She is a big rip off. She will reel you in but won't deliver!! Edit: Final Bill- 818 Dollars I initially made an emergency appointment for Centre Dental Care on January 7th, 2025. I had severe to debilitating pain in a lower right molar and a cut in my gums that had begun a couple of days prior. They were able to book me quickly, which I appreciated. They took x-rays and did an enamel density test and determined that I had a cavity in the molar and that the cut in my gums was unrelated. I was numbed, the cavity was drilled out and filled and I was pleased. I paid my 250 dollars after my in-network insurance and went on my merry way. After the numbing agent had worn off, I was again in severe pain, so I emailed them to let them know that I was experiencing no change in my pain. They informed me that this was normal because the cavities were "very deep". Their advice was to take more ibuprofen and contact them on January 13th. I accepted this at face value because I am not a dentist and resigned myself to living with the pain for another five days. After all, I have already reached out about my pain, so I do not see another option. On January 9th I made further complaints to friends and family about how I was feeling. Eventually I had to agree to call around to other offices. I was advised by several people including more than one other dental office that asking me to wait until Monday for a follow-up with the pain I was experiencing was extremely abnormal, unacceptable and potentially unethical. I made another appointment with a different Centre County dentist, and they immediately identified that the "cut" in my gums was a draining abscess. To be sure of a diagnosis they completed several tests that Centre Dental Care and Dr. Carnicella did not bother to do such as a Tooth Tap Test, a Thermal Test, and finally a gutta-percha point insertion. The diagnosis after these tests was- infection, abscess, and a significant crack in the molar. I was given a prescription for amoxicillin and advised to take NSAIDs. My bill for this was 122 dollars despite being an out of network office for my insurance (less than half of what Centre Dental care charged me for an improper diagnosis). After having a thorough discussion of my options with my new dentist, I opted to extract and after the extraction I am virtually pain-free with the use of NSAIDs. On January 13th, Dr. Carnicella's office reached out to me to "see how you are feeling" and to ask why they had received a transfer request. I told them honestly what I wrote about above- that I was told my pain was normal, they did not go through the reasonable diagnostic steps, and that I paid 250 dollars for fillings on a tooth I no longer have in my mouth when a different dentist diagnosed me correctly for less than half the money. Their response to this email is essentially the reason that I'm writing this letter now, because I find it utterly unbelievable. They claimed that I did not have evidence of an abscess when I was a patient there. They claimed that I should have followed up an additional time about my pain despite myself already doing that. Finally, they claimed that they "do not overtreat" when the issue is clearly an issue of diagnosis, not treatment. I asked them if they were claiming that my molar became cracked and infected in the 24 hours between my appointment with them and my appointment with another dentist and was told that "something can worsen in an hour, let alone 24 hours", and was again told that I should have reached out when the ibuprofen wasn't working. I then asked if the draining abscess that was flooding bacteria from the inside of my gums was simply a coincidence, and was told that "it's not a coincidence, it simply wasn't visible during your visit". They then attached a photograph of the outside of my gums despite the abscess being on the inside of my gums and claimed that no dental professional could diagnose an abscess with this information. I replied that I wasn't sure if they were being dishonest or simply don't have a memory for their patient care because the hole in my gums was clearly present and discussed minutes into my initial appointment. The photograph being from the wrong side of my gums is simply incompetence or morbid humor at this point. In summary, while Centre Dental care did perform a couple of diagnostic tests, they failed to perform several basic and standard tests for the condition I was in and symptoms I was displaying. They are either being dishonest about my appointment with them, are careless about patient care, or are simply very poor at standard diagnostic techniques. The fact that they tried to shift blame onto their patient after the fact instead of owning up to their mistake is frankly shocking and is the reason for this letter. I strongly recommend anyone reading this to try a different dental office. My experience at this office shows that they are expensive, irresponsible, likely incompetent, and are additionally at least one of dishonest and uncaring. read more

I went here recently because I had won Botox in a silent auction. I've never had Botox before but thought, why not?! Everyone was super friendly and nice. I was worried about how much it would hurt and was kind of nervous. Dr. Carnicella came in and we chatted for a bit and she was super friendly and it got my mind off the needles she was about to poke into my face. Turns out it didn't really hurt at all. I got it in the "elevens"- those two lines between your eyebrows when you make a mean face. I honestly love it. It's only been a day so it may relax more but here's a before and after. I like this place so much I'm considering getting my top veneers done here. This office will bully you if you want to hold them accountable for their actions. They will also threaten you. I went in to have a filling replaced in a front tooth because it was not as white as the rest of my teeth. They first replaced it with a shade darker than what I initially had. That filling popped off within 24 hours. I went back, they replaced it again with a whiter filling and then that one popped off soon thereafter. I again went in to have it replaced. That one finally stayed. I saw 3 different assistants each time and each time the assistant blamed the prior person. I also had a dead front tooth bleached. When this tooth developed a dark spot, I informed the office. At this point the office offered me a full refund for all of my treatments and told me I would be better off at a different practice. Then a week later I received a partial refund in the mail. I questioned the office and was told I was being unreasonable and that I would not be receiving a full refund. This office was the one who told me in writing at 2 different instances that I would be getting a full refund for all of my treatments. When I questioned the partial refund they threatened to stop payment on the partial refund. I took this matter to the Better Business Bureau. During the communication there, Dr. Carnicella turned very ugly and lied about my treatments. She came up with lies about me being a bad patient with other dentists. She accused me of scheming to get money and came up with other nonsense about my tooth being worked on by other dentists 7 different times. None of this is true. She was the first office to work on my tooth that I wanted a whiter filling on in almost 20 years. My tooth that I had bleached was never worked on besides draining the abscess in it more than 10 years prior. She did not even have my prior dental records to make any of these determinations. My previous dentist had retired which is why I sought out a new practice. This office is incompetent in my experience, the staff is mean when trying to hold them accountable and Dr. C herself has no accountability for her actions or for her staff and has threatened to take me to court. This whole experience has been off the chart and has caused a lot of unnecessary time, effort and anguish over their incompetence. I'm only trying to hold them accountable for the work that they did and for things that they said to me in writing. Based on my experience, I would stay away from this office. read more

We were eventually refunded the extra after some back and forth but we immediately lost trust and never went back. We've never had this experience at any other dentist. read more

Dr. Nic is so great! I've gone to several dentists in the past and every single one spoke negatively about the state of my teeth. My last appointment before dr. Nic I felt so berated I forewent going to the dentist for years. This lady was heaven sent and made me feel okay- she fixed all of my teeth and in the last 3 years I have never felt anxiety when I had to go in for a checkup. She has given relief for one of my biggest anxieties in life. Vicky is top notch. She stayed beyond closing to fix a temp veneer for me- as Much as I praised her for this, knowing I was a burden, she continued to tell me it wasn't a big deal and she was so happy to get my issue fixed- THE SAME DAY I CALLED. Great caring staff! I've always dreaded going to the dentist due to bad experiences in the past. Finding a dentist that cares about their patients and the outcome for them is important. My one star rating at Carnicella and associates is based on the experience and the billing practices of the practice. The dental experience was below average. The people were nice . However the deep cleaning my husband had done caused damage exposing the root of a tooth . They switched doctors on him and we were not notified that the new doc was not covered however that was corrected on the insurance but only after a year and ten months . The billing side has been a nightmare. So after a year and ten months the insurance part has been finally figured out. So we end up having to pay way more then he was quoted . I feel like i got the run around when speaking to the billing person. I did expect them to be honest and transparent regarding the billing practices . However that was not the case. read more

I completely agree with the below response. I had the same scenerio happen to me. Treatment was no complaints, however when i got my bill which was also $700+ I was shocked. It was much more than was qouted. My hygenist actually left my chair to check on a couple of procedures and came back with an out of pocket cost of $30 per tooth. At check out the cost on the bill was over $100 per tooth. I have paid my bill and will be looking for a new dentist. My co worker visited as well and the same thing happened to her. Dr. Carnicella left me on gas for 5 1/2 hours what was to be a 45 minute situation. I've had nerve problems for 5 years since then. I've also had numerous problems with the teeth she "fixed". Going to my new dentist today to fix the broken veeneer she did, which I didn't even need! If you want fancy decor, and don't care what they say needs to be done and you have extra $10000's of money, go for it. If you're looking for trouble, I can't even begin to tell you my problems.....have fun! She will smile to your face, then take all of your money. At least that was my experience. After meeting with several other offices I chose this one and it has honestly been the best choice for any type of dental care I could have made. The billing and appointments were always correct and I never had any issues. I have heard other friends mention they had problems with their Dentist regarding treatment or billing so I referred them to Carnicella and Assoc and they now are established patients too.
