I had my wedding at Nicotra's Ballroom this past October, and I'm not even sure where to start with the compliments - I wouldn't change a thing. We had our rehearsal dinner at Lorenzo's, our cocktail hour in the Trevi Garden, and reception in the Persimmon Room. We had attended a wedding at Nictora's a few years before planning ours, and we were so impressed that it made our venue search very easy. I'm happy to say that the team consistently delivers on great food, service, and atmosphere. Our guests are still talking about the food being some of the best they've had at a wedding, also complimenting the uniqueness of the venue. Jennifer Finch, our planner, kept everything organized and running smoothly - she was extremely willing to work with us on little details, provided helpful and insightful answers to questions, and kept us feeling calm on the day of the wedding. While Nicotra's provides the full package, there was enough customization available that things really felt ours. She's a natural. Our bridal attendant, another Jennifer, also went above and beyond - she was friendly, helpful, professional, and made sure we were FED and comfortable at all times. Our Maitre'd Matt was also amazing! Took time to ensure everything was to our liking, was very helpful and kind to guests, and was overall adaptable. The entire FOH staff was excellent, honestly - they made our celebration so much more special. To cap it all off, the Nicotras themselves stopped by to say hello to us and check in on guests - what a personal touch! Something that you often miss out on with a ballroom wedding are beautiful grounds - not the case here. We had many tons of options for beautiful couples portraits moments, and the floor to ceiling windows provided another great bit of atmosphere during the reception. We closed our reception with the Viennese Hour - if it's in your budget, do NOT skip this. It was an absolutely incredible and massive display that blew guests away. And having an extra hour to party is awesome! I cannot compliment this venue enough! read more

One of the very best wedding I have ever been to! One of the very best wedding venue I have ever been to! Two statements that I absolutely stand by. I had the pleasure of attending a wedding anniversary at Nicotra's a few years ago and haven't been back since but this recent event made me remember how amazing the parties are here. Now in the interest of full disclosure the wedding that I attended was my cousin's but under no circumstances am I giving a free pass. My eye for details as a Yelper stays and so are my honest reviews, and I can honestly say that if I were to have my own wedding Nicotra's would be up there on my list as the place to host it. The cocktail hour was done inside the gigantic tent that they have, and the food served both buffet and passed were fantastic. I've been to quite a few weddings but this has to rank as one of the best, if not the best, cocktail hour selections I've had. From sliders, to sushi, to paella, to wings, to cuts to meats, and on and on. There were too many choices to even begin listing them and I was already stuffed by the time happy hour finished. But alas I knew the gluttony would continue. The party moved to the grand ballroom and may I say the decorations, the lighting, the sheer size of it was impressive. With a huge dance floor in the middle everyone literally was able to partake in the many, MANY line dances of the night. The meal served in subsequent courses was fantastic. After already stuffing myself silly during happy hour the courses came out in due time and with my main entree as salmon I couldn't have been any happier. A perfectly cooked salmon at a wedding--wow who knew it could be done! With an endless supply of top shelf drinks from the open bar during the whole event, the night was certainly memorable. But wait there was one more surprise. A dessert room to put everyone in a food coma just for good measure. When I say dessert room it was literally a room filled with all kinds of dessert. Cakes, cannoli, chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate wonderfall, sweet liquor and many more. I grabbed so much more than what my stomach could handle and by the end of the night I felt like the chair I was sitting on was ready to buckle under the sheer weight of the food I consumed. Luckily I was dancing so much I probably burned some calories. Maybe 1/8 of it. Hey don't judge at least I was able to take off that much. My experience with Nicotra's Ballroom was fantastic. Nice ballroom, ok food, confusing parking. This venue hosts multiple weddings at the same time, parking fills up fast, and overfill parking can be confusing. The wedding reception I attended was in a garden terrace and it was beautiful with the sunlight coming in... also had a lot of greenery which gave it a magical feel. I was not a huge fan of the food, which was all vegetarian for this event. This place is confusing to get to - I drove through what seemed like a corporate center and its massive parking lot and somehow found my way. read more

4.5 stars We were here for a wedding this past weekend. The weather was pretty damp so we didn't get to enjoy the outside grounds, but there are some gorgeous Asian inspired structures which were very beautiful, even in the rain. Upon arrival, our car was valeted at the door. We generally don't like to valet our car because I hate the bottleneck that we encounter when trying to leave a place but it was a good idea because of the rain. It was a bit confusing walking in since we were late to the ceremony and there were no attendants nearby whatsoever. We finally found someone by the ballroom who let us in through a side door. Cocktail hour -- Food was delicious. Nicotra's has a dedication to Asian food and since the wedding was half Chinese, the bride chose to include some Asian stations. There was sushi and Peking duck and stir frys, as well as dim sum type foods. The bar was never too crowded even though there was only one bartender and they also offered imported specialty beer, which the hubby appreciated (although he did not find out towards the end of the wedding). Reception -- The ballroom was decorated in a very classy way and the servers were very attentive and cordial. To be quite honest I couldn't believe such a beautiful place existed in Staten Island.... The food was delicious; we had lobster bisque first and this was the first time I've been to a wedding where the soup was ladled right in front of you versus them bringing out already portioned bowls. Everything was done with white glove service which definitely added to the ambiance of the place. The filet mignon and Chilean seabass was done perfectly; the fish was very Asian as well, which I'm sure pleased the Chinese guests tremendously. Dessert (red velvet cake) was a hit with everyone as well. This has to be the best American-style wedding food I've ever had, period. Kudos for doing such a great job. The only thing that lost stars with me is that this is located in Staten Island :( It was such a far, far trek for us from Queens, especially with the traffic on the BQE. What a nightmare. This is absolutely a recommended venue for those that would like a catering hall in SI. read more

I have been to quite a few events at Nicotra's Ballroom. Three proms, three New Year's Eve parties, a Sweet Sixteen and a political event. The cocktail hour is the best part. A large variety of stations to choose from and it takes place in a tented room with cobblestone. The sit down dinner usually consists of a over cooked steak and a lobster tail that tastes like the inside of a freezer. I love the big ballroom and the huge dancefloor along with the attentive waitstaff. The dessert is a plus since it's catered from Renato's Pastry Shoppe. Long story short fill up during the cocktail hour, skip dinner and take advantage of the open bar. read more

I'm not a fan of two small things related to this place: The event planner/hostess (whatever she calls herself) that forcefully and rudely makes her presence known. And the Staten Island clientele. Overall it was OK, waitress dropped glasses and in another instance they dropped plates.. I was just really disappointed when my best friend Edwin Rondon the groom asked for a drink at 11:59pm and he was declined for a drink and drinks were supposed to be ending at 12:00am on 6/22/19! I felt bad for my best friends wedding getting rejected for a drink prior his wedding ending. I was shocked! If I was asking for a drink at the bar at 11:59pm I understand but the GROOM!! NO WAY, I WISH I CAN GIVE THEM A ZERO STAR BUT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR A ONE TIME LIFE EVENT!!!!! read more

Had our wedding there on July 2, 2006 and it was absolutely grand. Can't say enough good things about Mr. Nicotra and his operation there. Looking forward to a nice 5th anniversary dinner at the hotel restaurant Lorenzo's in a couple of weeks....maybe even a little memory tour of the grounds.... I found dealing with many of the wedding operations in staten island much like dealing with used car salesman...a lot of shenanigans....but Nicotra's was very professional, spelled everything out for us, and paid attention to every detail...Me and my wife felt very well cared for on our special day, and we will always remember the great reception we had there. read more

It's a shame how terrible the waiters, waitresses, and bartender "Rob" was at a recent party I had in June, 2014. The Tea House is very pretty, but for the money we paid, the food was terrible! It came out cold and the beef was very fatty. I was told Goose would be available and the bartender refused it to guests that asked. He insulted almost every guest at the party and had a miserable demeanor. The staff would disappear for most of the night, nowhere to be found, until it was time to serve food and then they made faces at guests who asked for simple requests. I had 125 people attend this party and every single one of them commented on the terrible service of this place. If you're going to spend a lot of money and expect to "get what you pay for" then DO NOT book your party here. This place needs a staff change if they want to stay open in the future. I had my wedding at Nicotra's Ballroom on February 19th and I can't say enough good things about this venue. I worked with Jennifer, who answered all my questions and helped greatly with our wedding planning. With 75 guests, we decided to have the cocktail hour in a small portion of the ballroom and the reception in the Tea House. If anyone else is considering this set up, I would highly recommend it. Both rooms were beautiful and the Tea House looked amazing, with four tables set up on each side of the room. I was hesitant at first because i'd usually see the Tea House set up for a cocktail hour but the room is so big, we could have fit many more guests comfortably. The main reason why we chose Nicotra's Ballroom was their reputation. One time while visiting the venue, Mr. Nicotra met with us and showed us every banquet room in the venue. He knew we were having a small wedding but took the time out to answer our questions and give us his feedback. Having a winter wedding I was also concerned about choosing a location that would be dependable in case of a storm, and Mr. Nicotra put all our worries at ease, explaining that during the event of bad weather, he can have his staff stay at the hotel overnight so everything would be up and running for our wedding. After booking the venue, I was so relaxed and had one less thing to worry about. During the night of our wedding, both the cocktail hour food and dinner was amazing. Friends and family continue to say great things about the food and the venue. The Tea House looked beautiful, and the weather was surprisingly so nice that we were able to take outdoor pictures on the property and at the gazebo. One of my husbands sisters young friends thought the cocktail hour was the dinner and was amazed by all the food she saw throughout the night lol. I didn't think we'd be able to afford a wedding at Nicotra's Ballroom and i'm glad we made the visit to the venue- this was one of the best choices we ever made. My fiance and I recently got engaged and booked an appointment to look at Nicotra's. When we arrived at our appointed time, the event planner seemed surprised and admitted she forgot about the appointment! Strike one. Turned off from the start. She rushed us, didn't listen to anything, and scribbled the proposal on the menu she threw in our face. My fiance and I told her we would like the prices to be broken down so we know exactly where our money is going. She replied, "Well, here it is. I'm pretty simple. This is the price." Basically, she should've just said, "I'm a bimbo who can't do math." Very uneducated, very unprofessional. She kept saying, "This is what I like," or "Personally, I like this..." and kept pushing her opinion on everything instead of listening. Excuse me, but this is not YOUR event. Yet, she continued to brag about how great the "Hilton service" was and talked trash about every other venue in Staten Island. If that's how you think you're going to get business- by talking trash? ---- not very classy. Not classy at all. Stick with Jersey venues- you get more for your money. I had a party with 90 guests for my husband's 60th birthday . I used Trevi's room. The ambiance was excellent. The room is a gigantic tent with low beam lights. Our DJ had lighting in different colors and it was very nice. The only thing, is that all our pictures and videos inside Travi's room were dark. The guests were using the big glass wall at the entrance of the room to take pictures. Dealing with booking the party was easy. Gina was very responsive in all our communications. We changed the menu to add some appetizer at the beginning. Adding some cheese tomato, pita, hummus,etc (one plate 16X16in for 8 to 10 people) and a plate the same size for one round table with fried calamari costs me 14$ extra for each guest. meanwhile that the regular menu was $59 without tax. For this cost I was expecting more food. Drinks were paid $16 per adult and was an open bar for soft drinks, wine and beer. For higher cost, you may include other drinks. I requested for the drinks to be served on each table or to leave a bottle of wine in each table. They didn't allowed it. Now after the party I understand it: it is not only the tips that they may get, but the consuming of drinks was not at all near $16 a person, because it is inconvenient for guests to get up and get a drink while they are eating. Open bar is good for a buffet. I went there about 2 hours before starting the party. They had a plan that I gave them before for setting the tables. But at the last minute, I had some changes at the number of people in 4 tables. Tom was in charge and he was very responsive, but the other ladies around him were so upset because of these changes and they were rude during all the party. The food was tasty but I recommend everyone to check the amount of food that each plate should have. Better to ask for a menu taste before the party. During the party, I I asked Tom and Gina a few times to clarify a few issues and to complain about the lady who was waiting the tables. She was continuously angry and rude. These were my issues: I was told that each table has a bowl of calamari. It was only one plate. Later on they brought another plate but only on three head tables. When I noticed it, I called Gina. She asked and told me that the standard was 1 plate but they wanted to satisfy main tables.I didn't ask for preferences, and I know that no one gives anything free. My party had not head tables, all had to be treated equally. If the tables are in circle, they should not assume that tables 1,2,3 are the head tables. The second was a green salad with fillet dough staffed with mushroom. I was told that on top of salad would be a staffed mushroom with cheese. When I called again Gina, she told me that I didn't order staffing with cheese. Weird! The most annoying thing was that the waiters were not reading the crowed. They had their own schedule and didn't care.They started to take plates from guest when they were dancing. since salad time, but I didn't say anything because most of people were not on the dance floor and they finished the salad. I told them to ask gusts before taking the plate. Most of the complains were for the main plate which as disappeared for a lot of guest. I made a big deal about it but what to do! The plates were gone. Even the birthday guy lost his plate! And then, they brought to him a plate with 4 stakes that he didn't touch at all, because he was mad. This plate was left in our table up to the end of party....When I asked the rude lady why they took the plates, she answered me because it's 9PM (the party ends at 10PM) I told her that cutting the cake and serving coffee doesn't take one hour. My people do not like to stay with empty tables and empty stomach. Even more, even though I had included DJ in my guest number, He didn't get any of appetizers or salad. I told them that they had to bring him the food, and they brought him only the main course. Anyway the cake was cut and distributed in 15 -20 min. The whole idea of waiters was to finish their work at 10pm and not to stay a 15 min later than guests to collect the plates and clean the room. They required the full payment by certified check before starting the party, so would be useless to continue arguing with them...... read more

Automatic 5 star rating ! Had my engagement party here this past Sunday in the Tea House & it's was amazing! First I have to compliment Gina for her help with all the planning & advice she had given me in the up coming weeks. She made sure everything was what my fiancé and I wanted along with making sure the day of everything was running smoothly. Tom the Matre D was absolutely spot on!!! I can't thank this man enough! He did everything possible to make sure both families were happy with everything including my fiancé and I. My glass was never empty, he knew everyone's name at the party and was an overall an amazing asset. So thankyou Tom. I have to thank one of the staff members Janet. She was so attentive and everyone couldn't stop complimenting her. Next onto Mr & Mrs Nicotra. Never did I think they would come in & check on the party but I'm sure glad they did. Such kind wonderful people. They created a wonderful atmosphere in this room. The food was phenomenal. EVERYONE & I mean everyone keeps telling me how amazing the food was & how they would love to come back for brunch ( including my fiancé & I ) Overall this venue & staff were perfect & we highly recommend your next party here ! read more
