I did not ever have shingles in my mouth. I believed this dentist because I asked him 5 times to recheck my mouth and xrays and the "specialist" endo he sent me to because what else am I to do? I started to doubt myself and was very depressed (really depressed) that I would have to live with this type of overwhelming pain since nueralgia is something you can't really cure. When I could not take the pain any longer I called Dr. Elkhoury because he has a great reputation and gave empathetic care to my daughter when she was 5 years old and needed a gum grafting. I explained to his front office my situation and also that the first day of school was the following Monday and 32 4th graders would end up with me as their teacher with tooth pain that was making me feel crazy. The woman who answered the phone fit me in the very next day, and I wasn't even a patient. Dr. Elkhoury and his assistant Bri listened to me, really listened, and found that I had an infected tooth that needed treatment immediately. I was prescribed antibiotics and referred to a capable dentist. His office staff made the appointment for me and the other dentist saw me right away. I had my crown removed, a root canal and the crown replaced with care. Thank goodness Dr. Elkhoury and his staff got me out of pain, started me on antibiotics, cordinated care to resolve the issue...most importantly....he and Bri listened and found the problem, all while treating me with empathy and not treating me like I was crazy because it turns out I'm not crazy. I just had a very infected tooth and not a life long disease with no end in site.

Here is my experience and take on that with this Periodontics COMPANY…read more I started at the Sonoma office. I had good expectations for what I thought would be. Sadly, despite continued hopefulness I found it lacking in what I think most of us hope for with medical professionals and their staff. The status game is most notable with the Periodontist himself. And from the rest of my experiences, money is the Number #1 in the direction and care. I personally believe that they are looking for the highest payout care and withhold sharing of knowledge with the aim of getting the money over what is BEST INTERESTS OF THEIR PATIENTS. Secondly, you can pay everything out the door. But when they realize you are not going to get any more business from you, they will magically come up with more bills you owe. Now to say that this isn't typical in our current times, would be a wrong. But just because it is predominant doesn't make it right. We vote with our money and choices. I don't resent the staff or the Periodontist here but I have high standards for us to stick with. And if you know something that will assist your patient and you treat them in another way to aim for more financial rewards short or long term, especially when it comes to permanent downfall from the patient, you and your staff then stink! Short and simple. Rotten motives dictating agenda of care offered.

Been going to Dena Marcus's office 2+years. The best thing about them is they take Delta Dental…read more I've had no issue with the work they've done nor the cost. If you don't mind showing up for each appointment and having a different dentist... then you should be fine. I decided after the forth dentist in less than three years, it was time to find a more reliable practice.

well my experience with this dentist has been nothing but a disapointment i payed 10,000 dollars…read moreto get dentures and all i got was a pair of dentures that have never fit without using adhesive to keep them in my mouth and i still cant eat food and it's been a year now. It gets better all my appointments were always at eight am everytime even though i got home from work at eleven at night. Then you show up and she makes you feel like you shouldn'tbe there like your some chump wasting her time even though its her responsibility. the last time i saw her i told her the upper dentures dont fit/work right she said well i guess you should have gotten some upper implants. This is after i paid twenty thousand to have my theeth pulled (twelve teeth at once) paid 10,000 thousand for that and another 10,000 for two dental implants for my lower teeth. So let me tell you i guess if your really rich you'll get the service you deserve deserve but if your just some person trying to do the right for yourself this is how you get treated. Then I had to find another dentist to fix my dentures just so i could swallow with them in my mouth (had to pay that dentist for doing the work Dena Marcus Should've done and anytime i had a problem and called to see her she was never there/available (not offered to see another dentist usually when a dentist is on vacation they have a fill in dentist (but not her). now in october i get a thing in the mail basically saying well if you have any problems you can come and see me if you have dental insurance or more money. glad I could Pay in advance for the worst experience Iv'e ever had. Ive gone thru braces, jaw surgery, and getting twelve teeth pulled at once and have had probably eight root canals but never had such a ****** experience like this treated like your not good enough to be in her office shes never appolgized. im not the only one she's done this to either look at her bad "yelps) and you'll see a pattern for treating certain customers like this but i guess if your rich she treats you right and the some. i'll finish with this don't ever pay her in advance unless you want a ****** expperience or have dentures that you can't wear or eat with now its been a year.still waiting o that's right she doesn't care now its my problem i'm out 10,000 and ca't eat regular food still, but why should she care, she's two faced and the worst doctor/dentist I've ever had the displeasure of ever having to see. your better off not seeing her unless you are really rich if your a workiing class person don't see her unless you want to be screwed over like i've been. thanks for nothing thief! justin farrell

Disappointing experience -- especially after 40 years with an excellent dentist…read more I'm new to Sonoma and chose Dr. Jason Groff through Delta Dental after breaking a tooth and needing a crown. Unfortunately, my experience was very different from what I had hoped for. At my first two appointments, the dental assistant performed most of the work, while Dr. Groff came in briefly for key parts of the procedure. After the permanent crown was cemented, my bite was not checked. I was concerned that my existing night guard would no longer fit, so the assistant adjusted it instead. Within two days, I developed severe nerve pain that woke me at 4 a.m. I returned expecting the dentist to evaluate the problem, but again, most of the interaction was with the assistant. The solution offered was a new night guard at no charge. I continued to have discomfort and eventually realized that my bite needed to be addressed. I also developed significant TMJ symptoms from compensating on the opposite side. At a subsequent appointment, Dr. Groff adjusted the crown and acknowledged that I had been compensating on the other side. Later, when I reported that the bite was still uncomfortable and the TMJ was worse, he told me the TMJ had nothing to do with the crown, which contradicted what I had previously been told. He then aggressively adjusted the crown and made a comment about continuing to grind it down "up to my head," which I found extremely uncomfortable and upsetting. I also had concerns about the practice's approach to dental hygiene. After having the same highly experienced dentist and hygienists for 40 years, I was surprised that my cleaning was very brief and largely performed by Dr. Groff with a sonic instrument, without the thorough tooth-by-tooth assessment I was accustomed to receiving. Most disappointing was my attempt to have a respectful conversation with Dr. Groff about my concerns and his practice protocols. Rather than discussing them, he became defensive and condescending, essentially telling me, "This is how I run my practice, and I'm not going to change it." I did not want to write a negative review. I tried to address my concerns directly, but I ultimately felt that, as a patient, they were not being heard or taken seriously. I am still experiencing discomfort and TMJ symptoms and will be seeking another dentist for follow-up care. For me, the issue is not the free night guard. I never went to this office for a night guard. The issue is the overall approach to patient care, communication, protocols, and follow-up. The world would be a better place if everyone practiced the Golden Rule: Treat everyone the way you would like to be treated. A simple, universal ethical guideline found in nearly every major culture and religion.
