Love that they have so many flavors to choose from and different sizes! They also offer other yummy treats like chicharrón preparado and aguas frescas. Definitely recommend!

Nieves Tia Mimis has two locations in Sunset Park: 4711 5th Ave and 5421 5th Ave. I have been getting Mexican ices from this place since I was young, and I love the wide variety of flavors they offer. They have different cup sizes available for nieves, ranging from $3 to $7. Higher prices for mangoneada and chamoyada, but they are worth the price! Inside, there are around four tables for seating, and they also have a bathroom for customers. Also, outside the store, there is a stand where you can buy chicharrones $8, elotes $4, and aquas (juices/beverages) $4-6. IG @postedforu Follow for ROC and NYC spots

Nieves Tia Mimi is an authentic Brooklyn & Queens establishment selling Mexican ice creams, sorbets, and other treats. I recommend the chamango/chamoyada, a frozen mango drink with savory Chamoy sauce, tamarind paste covered straw, the whole fixings! It's a very fun and extra drink.

My half assed "mangonada" wasn't as "souped-up" & pretty as the pic they advertised, whatever.

What a frustrating experience! I came in to try their Mangonada (the popular "mango smoothie" or whatever you call it with chimoy) I go in show a pic of it & asked if this was just mango with the chimoy & I pointed to it. The girl behind the counter looked at me confused ran to the back she brings out another girl and I asked the samething, they both run to the back (no joke!) to bring out a THIRD girl now they're all looking at me confused & I asked the same question while pointing to the pic (pic of their own sign) they all don't speak ANY English. Not one word! This is Sunset Park, I get it's a large Mexican population there but we're not in Mexico, you're working in Brooklyn..USA..No English at all?? Really?? Are all your customers Spanish speaking only? Do you only cater to Spanish speaking customers? I asked if the drink had just mango & chimoy? They looked at each other confused & hesitated nod..a guy comes in orders something in Spanish, I asked him if he spoke English he says "a little bit" I asked if he can translate what I've been asking for the past 10min..they finally say yes, so I asked him to ask them to make a small one & how much since there were NO PRICES anywhere! It's a whopping $8 for a small & why did it take two people to make it? Anyway how I didn't walk out after the confused 2nd girl, is beyond me but I really wanted to finally try this popular drink which honestly wasn't great it basically tastes like a mango smoothie (minus the dairy/cream) ..with like cayenne pepper & lime salt. The drink also did not look like the pic! I definitely would not go back very frustrating experience & disappointing. If you want to go & you don't speak Spanish, bring a translator.

Amount of water also spilled when i opened it.

Today i went and asked for the biggest size of esquite. She put more water then anything else,i went back and she gave a me a little attitude she emptied it out and only put mayo on top..Wish they did it the right way in the beginning.

Def one of my fave places I usually come at least 1-2 times a week when it's warm but usually more often lol. My fave is mango or pineapple helado chamoyada. I loveeee chamoy and Tajin anything spicy with fruits. It comes with candy tamarindo dipped in Chile/Tajin spice. The place can get packed in warmer days so be prepared. Decently priced too

So delicious . Small little place to take your kids on a hot sunny day . The people was really nice. The dish comes out fast. They make it right in front of you . Just a little spicy.

Super friendly staff who are very humble and take pride in what they do. I watched as one of the women crafted our icy drink in a beautiful, fruity and artistic way, while having a smile. I realized it was cash only after we ordered but luckily there is an ATM inside a bodega closeby. They have small, medium and large sizes. They do not list their prices in the store but be sure to ask them first. The regular-sized chamoyadas and mangoneadas were between $10-$15. Most of the customers appear to be from the neighborhood and are frequent regulars. There are only about three tables with limited seating, but most of the customers appeared to be in and out. We finished our icy drinks, ice cream and tamarind straw sticks. I had a temporary brain freeze and craved a hot drink. I saw in the back that they had a coffee maker and perhaps tea. The back area was also selling Baby Jesus figures which surprised us at first but we got used to it. Love these one of a kind Mexican drinks!

This place is located in the Hispanic area of Brooklyn. I had a mango chamoyada at Smorgasburg during my last visit to NYC, but the vendor (La Newyorkina) wasn't there this time around. My brother really wanted to try one, so I began my search for a place that sells them in Brooklyn. I came across Nieves Tia Mimi and decided to check it out. They sell a variety of Mexican ice, fruit (with or without lots of chili), and some other Spanish goodies. It's a small stored located on a busy street filled with Spanish businesses. We ordered a medium mango chamoyada, which consists of mango Mexican ice slushy, chili, and tamarind candy. The combination is deliciously sweet and spicy. Chamoyadas are pretty hard to come across, so I get excited whenever I have the opportunity to indulge in one! The one issue was price!! One medium chamoyada came out to be a whopping $12! I thought hole in the walls were suppose to be inexpensive :( Cash only.

Tia mimi's is always a good place to grab a good ol' homemade icee. The flavors they have a so delicious! My favorite one is piña colada ;) i personally like this tia mimi's more than the one in Roosevelt. Just because it was the first one i tried and because they sell more things. The workers are so nice and are always patient with their customers. They sell Mexican bread, Mexican hot chocolate, arroz con leche & my favvv chicharines. So good with some chile and lemon juice. I love that they have a coupon offer when you check in as well. They also sell these cookies called polvorones. I recommend these with some hot chocolate or hot coffee. Every time i am in the neighborhood i always stop by mimi's, even if it is 30 degrees outside haha. Def stop by if you are a fan of natural homemade icees

Every year, when this location opens, the options that aren't available are scribbled over with white window pen and faded writing shares notes on what's missing and toppings available. The prices have gone up every year for the past 3 years, although portions are slightly bigger than before I still don't think $4.75 for a small and $6 for medium is great value, especially for ice. In regards to flavors what's offered does taste good, but my favorite flavor, chocolate mousse, hasn't been available since July 2024. I won't tell people not to shop here but just based on the service I prefer elsewhere.

The neighborhood setting makes most visits feel like a quick stop for dessert rather than a long stay, but the interior still gave off a calm, clean café style atmosphere. We found it easy to sit down and linger a bit when we wanted to. The menu is heavily anchored in mango desserts in different forms. We tried the mango sticky rice first, which paired fresh mango with a simple, classic base that felt familiar and satisfying. The shaved mango ice desserts are more layered and textural, often combined with mango ice cream, boba, and fresh fruit pieces for a colder, more refreshing profile. We also ordered the mango mille crepe cake, a signature direction here, with thin layers of crepe and cream built around a strong mango presence. There are variations like mango mochi and durian desserts, plus drinks such as fruit teas and smoothies that keep everything within the same fruit driven theme. Service was straightforward and counter based. Our order came out in a fairly quick rhythm even though the shop had a small crowd.
