Great Mexican ice desserts. I've had a lot of nieve-type desserts in Mexico aka sorbets or gelato (when made with dairy, hazelnuts etc). Nieves Tia Mimi has some really delicious flavors. I tried the horchata and melon - both were fresh and delicious. The horchata flavor wasn't as rich as the ones I've had in Mexico. The melon was nearly identical - definitely my favorite. I love ice cream and gelato. As far as life goes, desserts are one of the greatest things man ever invented, especially ice cream and frozen desserts ! I have been wanting to try the chamoyada for a while & I finally came here today. We got a pequeno (small) chamoyada & pequeno (small) pina colada. The staff spoke Spanish so I attempted to use my limited spanglish and I confused the female staff so badly. She also was not the most friendliest. Eventually one of the male staff helped me translate - thank you so much! When it was time to pay, total was $15 & I gave the other male staff $20, but received back $1 (I should be getting back $5). Please make sure you get back the right amount because I do not know if the person did it intentionally or not. Nonetheless, the chamoyada & Pina colada were delicious! We were shocked how good they were! You can taste the quality of the Pina colada & it had the right amount of sweetness. It was so refreshing! I would reorder that next time! The chamoyada was very interesting (in a good way). It was spicy sour, a bit sweet, refreshing, a bit salty. It was a surprise party in my mouth! I liked the sour things (it tasted like tamarind) they put on it & that "stick" (straw). I would reorder this again next time! Excellent mexican ices! I had pineapple because that was a flavor I could recognize; unfortunately they don't have English labels for any of the flavors and the workers didn't know how to translate many of them either. Not one word! This is Sunset Park, I get it's a large Mexican population there but we're not in Mexico, you're working in Brooklyn..USA..No English at all?? Really?? I realized it was cash only after we ordered but luckily there is an ATM inside a bodega closeby. They have small, medium and large sizes. They do not list their prices in the store but be sure to ask them first. The regular-sized chamoyadas and mangoneadas were between $10-$15. Most of the customers appear to be from the neighborhood and are frequent regulars. There are only about three tables with limited seating, but most of the customers appeared to be in and out. We finished our icy drinks, ice cream and tamarind straw sticks. I had a temporary brain freeze and craved a hot drink. I saw in the back that they had a coffee maker and perhaps tea. We ordered a medium mango chamoyada, which consists of mango Mexican ice slushy, chili, and tamarind candy. The combination is deliciously sweet and spicy. Chamoyadas are pretty hard to come across, so I get excited whenever I have the opportunity to indulge in one! The one issue was price!! One medium chamoyada came out to be a whopping $12! I really missed mangonadas after moving back to NY from Chicago. I usually get them at a Mexican place in Queens, but it takes me over an hour on the train and most days I just have no interest in going to that borough. I was surprised that the large size was $20, but the serving was gigantic and topped with a bunch of fruit. Lasted me two days! I recommend walking to the Sunset Park a few blocks away and watching the sunset while enjoying a mangonada. (I do however wish prices and English translations were listed on the signs. I made an order at 3pm and they said it would be brought to me in 45 minutes, HOURS later when I kept asking how much longer do I have to wait they finally responded back to me saying that my order was cancelled because of how busy it got. Then not 2 minutes later the sent me a text saying they are outside. When I go outside I call to ask where they were, they tell me they are 25minuets away and I tell them to cancel because it was 10PM at NIGHT. It was late already and I wasn't gonna be eating nieve that late at night. The next time I ordered I wanted to give them another chance because I really love this place, I made an order and they charged me $17 for a chamoyada which was actually $13. When I called to ask why they over charged me they said they accidentally charged me for a Magoneada so I asked for a refund and they said they were sending someone and that person never showed up. so I decided to message them again and they said they would send me the $4 through Zelle, they sent $3.60. I'm not fighting over 40¢, it is just frustrating of the services they give. They aren't consistent with their services and are just playing around with their customers.
