Night Kitchen Catering. Don't even read this. Just hire them. CHEF AARON. We found Night Kitchen on Yelp and planned on having tastings at a few caterers. Chef Aaron happened to be first on the list. My fiancée and I went to the tasting and we ended our search pretty much halfway through the tasting. The hardest part was narrowing down our menu. He put so many clever and unexpected combinations together. We left the tasting excited for our event and boy, did he deliver. He even took on challenge of making kimchi from scratch. Every 10mins a guest would come up to us asking WHO THE F. ARE THESE GUYS?? (usually with their mouth full). Beyond the food, Chef Aaron did a walkthrough with us at the venue weeks before our reception and coordinated getting party rentals for furniture and even coming up with a Plan B in case it rained. Just the best guy to work with. ANGELA. We are convinced that she was a part of Seal Team 6. Responded quickly to every question or concern that we had leading up to the event. Even had solutions to problems we didn't foresee like heat lamps for an outdoor event when the weather dropped in temperature. At the event, she ran the show efficiently and with so much care that we didn't ever worry about anything and could just focus on enjoying our big night. I cannot tell you how much lighter we felt knowing that Angela was on it. An absolute gem! THE CREW. We knew we would get comments on the amazing food, but many people came to us saying how great they thought our servers and bartenders were. All smiles, all night and navigated a crowded venue with an easy enthusiasm. This is an A-Squad that really added to the atmosphere of our celebration. THE FOOD. Choosing them as our wedding caterer was one of the best decisions we made for our backyard wedding : ) What a talented, hard-working, and down-to-earth crew! Selection Process: The first good sign was that their website wasn't pretentious or overthought, unlike those of many other caterers. After I inquired about their availability with the basic details of my wedding (date, location, number of guests, budget), a tasting was set up at our apartment with Chef Aaron. He magically showed up on his bike with a big plastic container filled with many smaller containers of pure deliciousness. The whole tasting lasted about 3 hours, and we ate until our stomachs hurt--everything was just SO GOOD. That golden tomato sauce... Chef Aaron also was super warm and genuine. He just seemed so happy to cook! It was a wonderful experience, and we couldn't stop smiling. Planning Process: Angela, the Queen of Extraordinarily Helpful and Detailed Emails, communicated with us extensively about all the logistical matters, including letting us know what sort of rentals we would need. We definitely felt like we were in good hands since Angela was always quick to respond and thorough. Angela and Chef Aaron also were very keen to help us plan within our budget. We also asked Chef Aaron if we could customize and change up certain dishes, and he was extremely receptive to our wishes. The Wedding: The day-of was a bit hectic since we were doing everything ourselves, but once Chef Aaron and his crew showed up, they completely handled everything related to the set up, food/drink, and break down with grace and professionalism. My husband made our wedding cake, and he was really anxious until Chef Aaron reassured him everything was going to work out, which meant a lot to him. The crew were beyond courteous--everybody was pleasant to interact with, and our guests greatly appreciated the service. We were also so happy that we went with family style since everybody was seated at long tables and got to eat without having to wait around in a line. It was so much nicer than buffet style and so much easier than a plated meal. Family style just creates a warm, homey dining environment. Aftermath: Months later, people are still commenting on how amazing the food was and that it was the best food they've ever had at any wedding or event. When I was first researching caterers, I came across Night Kitchen and reached out for a quote. Evgenia responded promptly and provided some helpful general information and pricing guidelines, and offered to set up a time to discuss further. Initially, the prices she provided were a bit high for our budget and I thought we would have to continue our search for a caterer. I responded to Evgenia, telling her about our budget constraints. To my surprise, she responded back and said that they would work on a catering proposal that would meet our budget. Over the next several weeks, I communicated back and forth with Evgenia, and she was extremely patient as I explained our budget concerns and what we wanted for our wedding. I kept asking for more time to think, and she never rushed me. Ultimately, my husband and I decided to go with Night Kitchen, and it was the best decision we made! After signing the contract, Angela reached out to me to begin the planning process. She raised all the right questions and thought of details that never even crossed my mind. It was clear that she was extremely experienced and knowledgeable. We set up a time for her and Chef Aaron to do a walk-through of our venue. Even though the venue was not typical (it was a church), they were not phased at all and assured us that they would be able to work with the space just fine. Between the walk-through and the wedding date, Angela continued to be in touch, and I never had to stress about a thing. I could trust that she had everything under control. I spoke with Chef Aaron over the phone about the menu, and he had lots of great options to offer. Our menu ended up being very versatile, but somehow also completely gluten-free, which several of my guests appreciated. We also had plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. Food was a priority for me, so it was such a pleasure to work with people who know and love food as much as I do. On the day of the wedding, everything was executed flawlessly. The servers were kind, helpful, and efficient. The food was AMAZING. All my guests were raving about the food and wanted to know the name of our caterer! Everyone said that the food was way better than what they get at traditional wedding venues. Our food was served family style, but the tables weren't crowded or cluttered at all, and everyone had more than enough to eat. It's hard to know where to start with this review because everything about Night Kitchen was so amazing! Our wedding food was absolutely perfect, and Night Kitchen had the best staff we could have ever hoped for. We give 5 stars and beyond, we are serious Night Kitchen Catering fans! Chef Aaron was the first caterer we contacted and we felt a great connection beginning with our initial phone conversation. We then met him when he came to our house to cook the tasting menu, it was a three hour meal of vibrant flavors across a variety of cuisines. As soon as the tasting started, we knew Night Kitchen had to be our caterer! Not only did Aaron cook us amazing food, but he had such a calm demeanor and welcoming personality. As we began the planning process, we were introduced to Angela who supported us with the logistics and she is absolutely wonderful! Our conversations continued with Chef Aaron around the menu, and we met with him to collaboratively create the menu. We can't say enough good things about Chef Aaron and Angela! Every. single. person. at our wedding complimented us on how incredible the food was. Several people told us it was the best wedding food they have ever had! Aaron and Angela worked with us to design a menu that was fun and interesting, and worked for us and our budget. Angela was always on top of all of the details, and they were able to easily handle changes at all points in the process. They were especially attentive to the dietary restrictions of one of my relatives, who said: "I am used to not eating at all at a wedding or eating something that tastes like shoe leather, and the food was INCREDIBLE." Their staff took such good care of us, and went above and beyond. Our wedding was amazing in part because Night Kitchen was so fantastic. We got in contact with chef Aaron after reading all their amazing reviews online. We got a good vibe from him over the phone, and more or less hired them on the spot to cater our wedding. From there on we worked with them mainly through emails and phone calls. Being very clueless when it came to wedding planning, we probably had more questions and needed more clarification than the usual client, so I would perhaps say that if you are looking for a caterer to hold your hand through the planning process, Night Kitchen might not be that. They are, understandably, very busy. BUT, that being said, we soon found out first hand that Night Kitchen really lives up to the hype. We've never had better food at a wedding (one of the best meals we've ever had actually!) and all the amazing things we read about them turned out to be true. We asked to do things a little differently, because half the wedding party was Norwegian, and Norwegian weddings traditionally have very long dinners (ours was 4 hours!) with a lot of speeches throughout the courses. Night Kitchen were great at accommodating this, and they served an amazing family style dinner that was so well timed with everything that was going on. Every little dish was flavorful and pretty. The main dishes were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The dessert was delicious. Everything was no less than perfect. They also did a remarkable job with our space. We asked to rearrange tables, chairs and benches a few times during our wedding, and it all happened seamlessly. The staff was so professional and nice. When I first met Aaron of Night Kitchen catering, I wrote an ecstatic email telling my fiance that I had found the perfect caterer for our wedding. While I'm sure that sounded overly optimistic, over the next six months we found my initial assessment was right time and time again. In the end, we can honestly say that Aaron and the Night Kitchen Catering team were everything that we could have asked for and more. We would recommend them very highly without any reservations. Aaron, the culinary genius behind Night Kitchen Catering, was helpful, accommodating and understanding; he was efficient and easy to work with; he remained calm, and fun, the entire time; he was reasonably priced; and his food was just outstanding. He produced creative and unusual courses, worked with our budget (and never pressured us to try and increase it) and offered helpful suggestions along the way. Everything he made was a hit-- I had no less than 7 of our guests come up and ask for Night Kitchen Catering's contact information because what the food was so memorable. Perhaps my overwhelming impression of Aaron, however, was just that he was a genuinely nice guy who wanted to make our wedding special. He was far more concerned that we were happy- and felt we were getting a fair price- than in anything else. He shared in our enthusiasm and we had fun with him-- from pre wedding planning meetings to a tremendously festive tasting that he arranged at our apartment. He was our partner throughout the process, and not just someone we contracted. Given that we moved to Istanbul five weeks before the wedding, his patience and responsiveness really went above the call of duty. We have gone to several weddings over the last year. Chef Aaron, Angela, Angel, and the whole Night Kitchen team truly went above and beyond for our wedding. From the very first conversation, they were incredibly helpful and professional, and you could just tell that they love what they do. We went in for a tasting trial before making a final decision, and the food was INCREDIBLE! We challenged Chef Aaron to make a menu that was a fusion of Peruvian and TexMex - two very different cuisines - and you could just see the attention to detail, ingredients, and flavors in every dish he made. Aaron and Angel are truly world class chefs and so versatile in what types of foods they are able to cook, and cook exceptionally well! And that was just the tasting! Angela not only coordinates the catering, but also offers wedding day-of-coordination, which is probably the best decision we made for our wedding! She was so helpful making sure we thought about all details, no matter how small, and she created an incredibly detailed timeline, which made the day run smoothly. She reached out a couple months before the wedding to understand our vision and make sure we were on track with all of the vendors. And once we gave her the contact information for all of the vendors, she made the rest of the planning process stress free! The day of the wedding was executed to perfection by the Night Kitchen team. They have their own staff for the kitchen and table service. Set up, rentals, and breakdown were all handled by the team. And as a nice touch at the end of the night, they made sure to pack us a 'hangover box' of food for the next day. We could not be more grateful that we chose Night Kitchen for our wedding just over two weeks ago. Aaron and Angela and the rest of their incredible team worked so hard to make the day smooth, stress-free, and most importantly, really insanely delicious! Aaron and Night Kitchen catered my son's wedding this past weekend. They did a fabulous job. It was easily the best food I've ever eaten at a wedding, from the passed hors d'oeuvres to the main courses (steak and duck) and the side dishes. The guests were seated at long tables and the meal was served family-style, with many small serving dishes instead of a few large ones. Where to start! Night Kitchen's amazing food and team were the HIGHLIGHT of our wedding reception. Night Kitchen was able to prepare for our wedding last-minute in less than two months, and what they created for us was stunning. We had a vegetarian wedding menu, every detail of which was thoughtful, unique, and exceptional. Chef Aaron took the time to, based on our preferences, create a menu that was not "lacking" meat but, quite on the contrary, wowed our guests. We received so many compliments and inquiries on who the catering firm was! The food was served family style and was beautifully plated. Everything was prepared freshly on site. Night Kitchen was even able to work with the limitations of our venue (which didn't have a full kitchen). The staff was exceptionally friendly and professional during the event, and every single team member was a joy to work with. Night Kitchen went above and beyond wherever possible - they served the drinks and late night snacks we had brought in ourselves, advised us on the amount of alcohol to buy, helped to set up and take down some of the decor, and communicated with the venue on their own initiative to make sure everything went smoothly. Before the event, Angela and Evgenia were extremely accommodating, friendly, and easy to communicate with. From our first phone call, Chef Aaron just got us and what we wanted, and after the first bite of food at our tasting we looked at each other with giddiness: we found a hidden gem in a world (the wedding world) and a city (New York) where that's increasingly rare. The tasting was nothing short of magical. We were wowed with every dish Aaron and his team prepared, and among all the other wedding-related stress, it was FUN. Good tunes, good beer, and incredible food. We had a very specific vision in mind and Chef Aaron and team nailed this vision and exceeded our expectations. Many of our guests went out of their way to tell us how amazing the food was, and one guest even emailed me after asking for Night Kitchen's contact information so that he could write them a personal note. Chef Aaron is an AMAZING cook and so incredibly friendly, patient, kind and funny. Angela was the best day-of-coordinator we could have asked for and an all around lovely, super organized, and meticulous planner from start to end. We were first blown away, as many other reviewers were, when Chef Aaron arrived at our tiny apartment and managed to serve us a flawless feast of a meal for three hours. He made us laugh and listened carefully to our particulars and requests. Leading up to the wedding Angela, created the most organized schedule of our day-of and she thought of and took care of all the details so that we could focus on our family, friends and each other on our wedding without a single worry. One of the highlights of the wedding was when all of the guests were on the dance floor, doing the hora and I looked over and saw Chef Aaron dancing up a storm in the circle of family and friends with a massive smile on his face. Some of our guests actually thought we had hired him as a hora dancer to help get the crowd jazzed up -- that's how awesome and energetic he was. Of course he only made a brief appearance on the dance floor -- albeit a memorable one -- before making it back to the kitchen to execute a flawless meal that many guests, as others have said in their reviews, could not stop raving about, even months later. Night Kitchen is hands down the best caterer you could hire for any special event, but especially your wedding. We had 160 people at an outdoor location on Long Island. We had to bring everything on site. Night Kitchen made it seem easy. The food is elegant and flavorful with ease. It's food everyone wants to eat more of, cooked to perfection with totally understandable ingredients that your guests will love. Aaron, the chef, knows good food. We did the summer grill menu: the summer ratatouille was full of flavor, the salmon SO GOOD, and the steak with chimmichurri cooked to perfection. The passed hors d'oeuvre were out of this world tasty. Even the cocktails were awesome. Aaron and the entire Night Kitchen staff are super friendly, professional, serious, and hospitable. We've heard from over a dozen people that it was the best food and drink they've ever had at a wedding. We actually received a hand written card from a guest about the food. It was a love story between our guests and Night Kitchen. My mother can't stop talking about how friendly the servers were. They were all smiles, like caretakers. When Aaron came to say goodnight, he was swarmed by mothers, friends, bride, and groom. Then there is Angela, who works for Night Kitchen and will work as your day of coordinator. She is beyond the beyond helpful. Angela is super easy going, but thinks of everything, and makes critical calls that will make your event run smoothly, and put you at ease to enjoy yourself. She reads the room and offers her advice. Take it. Always take it. Night Kitchen has great relationships with other vendors in the industry as well, so they are a great resource for you. They worked with the rental company, making sure we had everything we could possibly need down to the teaspoon. We used Night Kitchen catering for our 110 person wedding at the Green Building in Brooklyn. Night Kitchen was a huge part of what made our wedding feel special and unique. From the food and service to the invaluable day-of-coordinator, Night Kitchen was the right choice. When we first did research on wedding catering, we found Night Kitchen and found that all of the reviews were phenomenal - so we quickly booked a tasting. At the tasting, we got to taste a variety of appetizers, salads, and entrees. Just about everything was delicious enough that we had no doubt immediately after that we would be going with Night Kitchen for catering. Meeting Chef Aaron, who runs Night Kitchen, at the tasting was great. He was extremely nice and really cared about what our vision was for the wedding. But perhaps the absolute BEST part of going with Night Kitchen is their day-of-coordinator, Angela. Angela is the most organized, friendly, and open person you will ever meet. She guided us throughout the entirety of the wedding process, and made sure that our special day would be perfect. She reached out to vendors, squared away certain day-of-logistics, and even met with us independently to make sure everything we were planning was going smoothly. Finally - the actual day of was great! Many of our guests commented on how great the food was, and we both agreed. We gave our guests a number of passed appetizers, a salad, and a main entree with a choice of chicken, fish, or steak. The only tiny hiccup we had was that many of our guests said that they did not receive the right dish. This actually also happened with the groom. There may have been some miscommunication based on what was written down on what software, but in the end, it truly didn't matter. Even if a guest got the wrong thing, they still loved what they got! Overall - I would HIGHLY recommend Night Kitchen to anyone looking to cater their wedding, or really, anything else. Night Kitchen catered our wedding. I could not count how many people told us the food was incredible. One person emailed us afterwards, "...best wedding ever...surpassed only by the best food... Evvvveerrrr!" I really can't say how glad I am that we worked with them, both because of the incredible food and because they made planning the day of the event so stress-free. Chef Aaron came to our home to do a three-hour tasting. He tailored the menu to our supremely disparate tastes--I like Asian/Indian/Mediterranean schmancy vegetarian food, and my partner likes fried chicken and steak--and the food he made thrilled both of us. It was so delicious that my carnivore partner, who normally doesn't touch vegetables, was disappointed when I finished the bok choy/shiitake stir-fry and asked me to save him the curried lentil/fried eggplant leftovers. They also accommodated our two vegan guests with special plates, which was so lovely. Angela was a fabulous communicator, very responsive, and answered all our questions clearly. She and Aaron both met us at the venue and helped us plan out so many different elements of the food, set-up, and timing, which we appreciated their help with since we didn't have a wedding planner. Their staff who worked our wedding were delightful and professional, and basically everything went 110% better than we could have asked. Absolutely incredible. Just came from a backyard wedding catered by Night Kitchen last night and it was the best wedding I have been to!!! The food was phenomenal!!! The appetizers were so tasty with layers and layers of flavors!! All cooked and served to perfection! Also, there were plenty of them! Sometimes at events you try to catch a server but the apps are snapped up quickly and you don't get to taste everything. The dinner was served family style, plenty of food on the table, and EVERY dish was unbelievably fresh and flavorful!! I can't say enough about this caterer and I don't think my review even does them justice! They are so much more than what I can put in words! I must say, the bride and groom and our family are "foodies". We love and appreciate home made, fresh and flavorful! You can have the best food in the world, but without the staff to back you up, you are nothing. The staff was STELLAR!! Service was unbelievable! The apps kept coming, they were constantly clearing glasses, napkins, etc., keeping the cocktail area clean and pretty! Dinner ran like a finely oiled machine!! I think every table got their food at the same time (multiple courses), while water glasses were constantly refreshed, as well as attention to wine bottles on the table AND they cleared constantly as well. From our first phone call with them to the end of our wedding night, it was such a pleasure working with Angela, Chef Aaron, and the entire NK team. NK stood apart from other caterers in many ways - like making the effort of getting to know us and our history, listening to our preferences and vision, being so flexible and accommodating with our requests, working within our budget, coming out to our apartment for a private tasting, creating a customized menu to represent us as a couple, and just being such friendly, fun, and down to earth people. Chef Aaron not only warmly embraced my wife's challenge of an all vegetarian meal but also delivered above and beyond our expectations. The food was so interesting and flavorful that no one even noticed it was vegetarian because it was just SO good. Like others have claimed, our guests continue to compliment and ask about not only the food, but the service as well. The staff did a wonderful job setting up the space and creating our vision as well as providing professional yet friendly service to our guests. Angela was the contact person and was very responsive and helpful throughout the process, giving us advice and recommendations whenever we had any questions. We ended up having her as our day-of-coordinator as well and she made the night run so smoothly. With so many of our own DIY projects, Angela really allowed us to have a stress-free and enjoyable night. They catered a book party for me and it was perfect in every way, from Angela's seamless handling of the numerous details to Aaron's delicious food and the pleasant staff who served that night and manned the bar. Aaron and his team catered our wedding of close to 200, at the Metropolitan Building in LIC. When we first had our tasting with Night Kitchen, we booked with the company for many reasons: Aaron came to our apartment on a bicycle with a cooler. He managed our kitchen deftly and professionally. He created a tasting that allowed a complete sampling of a variety of choices. He had a clear system for setting up, cooking, and cleaning up. The food was absolutely delicious, and made with such precision, and to perfection. We loved the spices and complex flavors, the colorful food that came from interesting pairings. Before the wedding: Angela was hired as a coordinator, and worked closely with us in the planning process. Our wedding was mostly DIY, and she helped us with some of the problem-solving. On the wedding day, she assisted in making sure things went smoothly. During the wedding: The wait staff was incredibly attentive and friendly. We liked this, especially considering that at big catering halls this tends not to be the case. They made managing food for such a large group seem seamless. We did not want to have stations, but rather passed hors d'oeuvres, so NK made sure there were some platters strewn about where the guests would be lounging before cocktail hour had begun. The food was served family style, which is my personal favorite, as it allows guests at mixed tables (bride's family + groom's family) to interact and allows guests to sample everything. We had three bartenders, and there was never a line at the bar. The waitstaff was always active, passing drinks around making sure everyone's needs were being met. The food was presented beautifully, and it felt as, from the catering end, there were no hiccups (Which if you planned a wedding you know, there are always hiccups). Even the dessert station was gorgeous, and once again delicious. After the wedding: Our guests are still, weeks later, talking about the food. We have even had a family friend call us about the jicama salad so that she could look up recipes. We heard how delicious the mac + cheese bites were, the hake fish, the chicken in pistachio crust, the chicken wings, and the peach gazpacho. People were simply blown away by the attractive presentation. Although we already knew that Chef Aaron is amazingly talented, how everything came together was--wow. We should say, that we usually dislike wedding food. Many caterers when cooking for large parties, dry out the foods, or use shortcuts that make the meal difficult to enjoy. To walk away and say we absolutely loved the food at our wedding, and that our guests are still raving about it a month later, feels like a special gift within itself. read more

Night Kitchen catered our wedding this past August at the Green Building in Brooklyn. We found them via yelp and set up a tasting with Aaron. The tasting was amazing, Aaron rode his bike from Brooklyn to Chelsea and somehow prepared the whole tasting in our tiny tiny kitchen. The food blew us away, we knew right then he was our man. We hired Angela as part of the package to be our day-of-coordinator. She went above and beyond helping us throughout the entire wedding planning process. Angela helped us with all the rentals, helped put together our menu, including the most delicious signature drink ever, and helped perfecting the layout of the space Angela took our vision and made it come to life. The food was absolutely amazing. We went with buffet style which worked perfectly for our wedding of 75. The wait staff and bartenders were all very professional and attentive. Our guest not only raved about the food but also raved about the staff. We would definitely recommend Night Kitchen. First off, everyone we heard from said that Night Kitchen had the best food they've ever eaten at a wedding, even friends of ours who are restaurant and catering company owners. hands down. From our initial meeting, my husband and I immediately got great vibes from Aaron. He came to our apartment and cooked a ton of delicious food, and that night we decided to hire Night Kitchen. He's a performer (like me) and we just hung out and had a great conversation over ridiculously amazing food. It was so refreshing, especially after going through so many other catering companies and just getting insanely expensive quotes coming back to us and being scoffed at for looking for something more affordable. We almost gave up on having a full dinner at our wedding until we met Aaron. Angela is incredible to work with, she's so on top of it, and took time to meet us and thought of many details that just help make the wedding day go so much smoother. We had great productive phone conversations with Aaron and Angela in tight schedule to plan everything. We met on site once to look at the space and plan where things go. We had our wedding at Akwaaba Mansion in Bed-Suty, amazing little gem in the neighborhood. Night Kitchen member had previous experience catering at this location, so that helped a lot for planning what to bring in, pre-cook, etc. All my guests LOVED the food. They all still talk about it every time I meet them. The menu represented our styles and it was memorable. We wanted summer backyard BBQ feeling, and they captured that very well. There rice was so beautiful and delicious! And the skewers were cooked well and super yummy. It was the prefect hot summer evening party food. Thank you so much for all the help and working with us! Listen, Aaron of Night Kitchen Catering really is as good as it gets. People are STILL taking about how his food was the best they've EVER had at a wedding, hands down. Especially his hors d'oeuvres. We had 150 ppl for our wedding at an upstate location in 2012, and everyone was totally satisfied and cared for. Take advantage of his versatility & his grilling skills. He makes an incredible steak, and grilled veg. I LOVE his Persian influence (especially Georgian beet walnut salad, lentils, eggplant). He puts tons of fresh herbs in everything. We hired Night Kitchen to cater our Summer 2020 wedding long before COVID was a concern. Chef Aaron, Angela, and the rest of the NK team were so flexible, working with us to change the date three times and eventually having our big celebration in July 2021. There aren't enough positive adjectives in the English language to describe how happy we were with NK's service. Our wedding guests are still going out of their way to tell us how amazing the food was. We never want to plan another wedding, but we would like to be guests at as many future NK events as possible! One specific thing our guests commented on was that they felt like the passed apps were delicious and plentiful, having experienced average snacks that are hard to come by at other events. In addition to amazing food, the event was perfectly executed. Our only regret is not eating more ourselves at the wedding!
