Wow, saffron 59, so much to say. My wife and I got married in October of 2023. When it comes to weddings, people will always remember how good of a party it was and how good the food is. My wife is Jewish, and my parents are vegetarian, so naturally, chinese food was the way to go. My wife was browsing through caterers and picked up on how unique the dishes offered by Saffron 59 were, and I was sold. We chatted with Jen and Irene and committed! We had a tasting sometime in early 2023, and I was blown by the food and hospitality. On wedding night, the guests were raving about the food and signature cocktails. We served family style, and our entrees were braised short ribs, ginger chicken, and steamed fish alongside numerous other side dishes. The presentation was gorgeous, and the food was on point! Also, there was not a hitch in the serving of multiple different dishes, and everything came out hot. Our personal server, Juliana, was an absolute gem and made my wife and I feel well taken care of throughout the night. Keeping it real, I felt like communication with saffron 59 through the planning process could have been a bit better as we were a bit anxious about our guests with dietary restrictions, and I definitely had a bit of sticker shock but I did my research and that's the just the price of good catering at a NYC wedding. Belated review from 2021. When planning a wedding for two foodies, we had a very specific vision and Saffron59 was our first choice. They were able to execute our Chinese fusion banquet dream outdoors at the botanical gardens with ease-- even during COVID. Irene and her team were responsive to our questions, and worked with us despite COVID delaying plans for a year and changing guest lists. They even helped the day of with the details. Irene even decorated the cake for us! The guests loved the food and I personally appreciated Irene's Burmese pork dish. I have tried many dishes from Saffron59 and have enjoyed each and every one! I am a pescatarian (that doesn't eat shellfish) - and Irene and her team have always been extremely accommodating! We actually had another caterer lined up (with deposit paid!) for our 2014 wedding, and almost didn't go to the Saffron59 tasting!! But The Flavors! And The Presentation! Each dish was a masterpiece, and my notoriously picky eater of a husband liked everything that came out of the kitchen. My husband is Jamaican and my family is from Hawaii & Nevis so we wanted our menu to be authentically us. Saffron 59 embraced the challenge, coming up with inventive signature cocktails and a full buffet style meal showcasing both of our cultures. They planned the menu, hired the staff and even gave us the baker for our wedding cake (which was to die for). They were reasonable, warm and giving. And they were involved from day one, doing venue walk thrus with us; connecting with our day of coordinators; helping move the day along from cocktail hour to sit down dinner to cake cutting. They also made sure our vendors were fed and our guests were happy. Even now, years later, we still keep in touch with Irene and her team, and have been known to drop by a Saffron59 tasting or two. We can't recommend Saffron 59 highly enough. My husband and I were planning a gathering of about 120 people for our wedding party and were thrilled when we found a caterer who specializes in southeast Asian cooking. Irene, Kay, Leili, and the rest of the staff were incredibly attentive to our needs. My family is Indonesian, so we really wanted food that felt like home to my family and something our friends would also enjoy. Our budget was on the small side, but rather than attempt to guilt us into spending more than we could afford, they listened and worked with us to find a way to have amazing food for our wedding party without going bankrupt. We also had a space with very limited facilities, so they orchestrated bringing their own equipment in addition to very beatiful serving plates and wares. It's their deftness in ancillary matters that make Saffron 59 feel more a collaborator than someone who just shows up with food. And the food was incredible! Saffron 59 catered our wedding. We were looking for a caterer that specialized in Southeast Asian cuisine, since my wife's family is Filipino. We wanted dishes that represented her culture and would introduce my family to the awesomeness that is Filipino cuisine. We both work in the restaurant business, so our expectations for the food were pretty exacting. Leili, Irene and Chef Kimberly did a phenomenal job putting together a menu that appealed to all palates. At our wedding, guests repeatedly told us "It was the best wedding food they'd ever had!" In addition to putting together an amazing menu, Saffron did a great job with our event design. Our theme was "rustic / romantic" and the reception was held at the Dumbo Loft, a raw, industrial type of place. We told them our vision, and when we arrived to the reception, it was exactly as we'd pictured it. The biggest standout part of our reception was the service. Irene made sure that we had a server dedicated specifically to us (we had a sweetheart table). She was incredibly attentive, making sure that we never had an empty plate or glass- so important, since so many of our married friends told us they barely at at their own weddings.
