While some of the rooms and common areas could benefit from updates and fresh paint, the environment was comfortable and well maintained. One consistent complaint from my father-in-law was the food, which he did not particularly enjoy. That said, the staff always treated him and our family with kindness and respect. Unfortunately, my father-in-law passed away while in their care, but he was a very sick man with significant health issues. During this difficult time, the staff showed compassion and were very supportive of our family, which we greatly appreciated. One thing that truly stood out was their pet visitation policy. After providing proof of vaccination, we were able to bring our dog to visit him. Those visits brought him a tremendous amount of joy and comfort, and it meant a lot to our family to be able to share that time with him. While there is room for improvement with the facility updates and food quality, the caring staff and compassionate treatment of residents and families made a difficult situation a little easier.

Totally lazy because my mom probably only got a bath once a week.. My mother has Alzheimer's and it is very important to keep a schedule. That never happened. If she wanted to stay in bed, they let her. How do you get Rehab in the bed? if she wanted to eat fine if she didn't fine. She was supposed to be on a finger food diet, which they never could get correct. She is blind, so she can't eat regular meals as easily as she can finger foods. So some days food was minimal. I made sure she did get some food. When they released her and brought her home, she had not had a bath, and her under clothes were soiled. If you care anything about your family member, please don't go there. I could say more, but that gives you an idea of how poorly your family member is treated.

I recently visited a family member at Riverside Health and Rehab and left extremely concerned about…read morethe overall conditions and level of care. My cousin is blind, has one leg amputated, is diabetic, and largely bedridden. During my visit, I observed strong unpleasant odors, cleanliness concerns, and what appeared to be poor accommodation for his disabilities. My cousin expressed feeling isolated and stated that he struggles to communicate with family because he cannot properly use his phone due to his blindness and does not consistently receive assistance. He also reported spending most of his time alone in his room and not being included in activities like other residents. One of my biggest concerns was that his call button had reportedly been left out of reach on multiple occasions, which is especially dangerous for someone who is blind and immobilized. I did speak with administration regarding my concerns and was told the issues would be addressed. I sincerely hope improvements are made for the safety and wellbeing of residents.

Its like dumping your love one in a horrible nursing home nightmare. The food is terrible and some of the staff are rude and disrespectful. The staff is not held accountable for their behavior. Since they have strict visiting hours unless your love one tells you they are being abused you will never know. They also are freaked out if your love one has a cellphone or tablet. If you use facetime they act like they got caught doing something wrong. I'm still trying to figure out what they are hiding. Rehab is located in the old part of the hospital and is basically the forgotten ghost of roper hospital if you go back 30-40 years. The rooms are old very outdated and the beds are old raggy rusty metal beds. Its as if this part of the hospital has been abandoned. They do not have the radio phones like they use at MUSC, so they are constantly screaming over the callboxes. Its very annoying and disruptive. But as they say you never get any rest or sleep on a hospital. The physical and occupational therapist are good. Just avoid Roper hospital period. Go to MUSC. They are updated, no raggy rusty beds, decent food. and decent visiting hours. They also allow 2 support people access anytime. I had a rude staff incident one time and it was fixed immediately.
