Really nice guy, bad at rhinoplasty. He absolutely botched my nose…read more His office staff was super nice and consistently called to check up on me, which was nice.....but that doesn't mean anything if the doctor isn't so skilled, to put it nicely. I went in for purely cosmetic reasons and he ended up GIVING me a deviated septum. Yeah, you read that right. I can only breathe at 20% at best from my right nostril now! This is not because of swelling, or to just wait it out and it'll all be fine a year after surgery because it's been 5 years. I am now having to get a revision rhinoplasty solely because of Dr. Costa. I met with him a year after and expressed my problems to him. He checked it out and said it looked perfect and there is nothing to change. My nose was straight before, never had problems breathing. He literally made my nose visibly crooked. No joke, it looks like someone kneed me in the face and broke my nose. And I can't breathe well now. Apparently this guy is good at facelifts, but he did a rhinoplasty, and that didn't go so well. Shortly after my surgery and prior to me waiting a year to see the real results, I allowed myself to be blinded by his sweet staff and actually referred my friend to him for a rhinoplasty. He did her nose too and she's so unhappy with it. Long story short: LOOK ELSEWHERE.

It's almost time to schedule a facelift. He is simply the best. My first experience was outstanding…read morewith fantastic results.

Relevant backstory: several days ago developed symptoms consistent with blocked bile duct. On Friday, had a piece of toast at 8 a.m. (relevant) went to PCP who immediately sent me to Roper Berkeley, Very good experience there (5+). Confirmed blocked bile duct. Bit of a bugaboo with transportation, but nothing major [Not all Roper hospitals do all surgeries, so transferred to Bon Secours]. Received cube of jello and small drink. Arrived well into evening at Bon Secours, where I met a terrific staff. ERCP scheduled for next day so no food no drink. To this point 5 stars. Saturday had ERCP by excellent surgical staff. All went great. Was allowed bouillon but again nothing to eat or drink after midnight as surgery next day to remove gall bladder. It should be noted here that this surgery is almost always done outpatient and you are sent home after just a couple of hours. But since I was already in hospital, easiest to just get that done. To this point still 5+. Sunday brought some confusion about the laparoscopic surgery time, but finally taken down around noon. Very quick, painless and pleasant experience. Back to room around 3, where vitals taken. Again, to this point 5 stars. The doctor reported to all that I could go home that day. After 3, saw no-one. Finally around 5 asked for any info on food, discharge, etc. This is where things went off the rails. Got lots of pushback about the doctor releasing me didn't mean the hospital had. I understood that and asked what the plan was, and oh, btw, any food or drink? The latter bit got some emphasis when the food delivery people came by in the middle of this discussion to take my non-existent tray away (sort of cosmic karma). To their credit they managed to arrange for a dinner, which was tricky as food services were about to shut down for the day. Not bad food. First meal since that piece of toast on Friday at 8 a.m. Asking for any clarification on when I would be discharged was again met with hostility and hand waiving, but no answer. Overheard: "nicest guy in the place suddenly turns into ..." .(not clearly heard but I got the gist). So with many angry words and a flurry of totally unnecessary rushing, I was shown the door at around 6. Much to my surprise, unlike any other medical facility I've ever been in, you are just allowed to walk out and not be sent out in a wheelchair. Asking about this got more angry words. I understand several things here: (1) they are short staffed; (2) apparently there was some computer glitch; (3) the nurse was stressed about a personal situation and (4) it was within their rights to have me stay another day, which I would have done had they simply said I needed to. I may have been a bit more forceful than I am wont to be but I really dislike ambiguity and hand-waiving instead of a simple answer. "Yes, you need to stay another night and we'll rustle up some food" would have done the trick. I spent 40 years in a service industry, so I have some experience to fall back on. The above interaction would have seen me sacked. So in the last 2 hours what would have easily and enthusiastically been a 5 star review needed to be adjusted downward. My wife, who had patiently been there for 9 hours, felt the whole experience was badly handled and I know was upset. I don't wish to see anyone sacked. But I do hope, should I need to go there again, which is not unlikely as a senior citizen, that such issues can be better managed. Good experience with a tragic ending that didn't need to happen.

I arrived to my 2:40 PM appointment about five minutes early. As soon as I checked in at the desk, the receptionist directed me into an exam room to get my shot. The nurse, Norine, was upbeat and positive. She asked a few questions- the usual consent to receive the vaccine, and that I had not tested positive for COVID recently or received antibody treatments. Norine said she'd been giving COVID-19 vaccines every day since February, and she was a pro. I barely felt the needle. My second appointment is in three weeks, as I got the Pfizer vaccine. I waited for 15 minutes before leaving, which is standard for COVID-19 shots. There are no magazines in the waiting room, so if you don't want to be on your phone, take a magazine or book. Parking is free in the large lot, and I only spent about 20 minutes total (shot + wait) here. The one side effect I experienced was soreness at the injection site, for about a day. The only thing that could've improved my experience would be a fun band-aid or a sticker, but alas, I got a shot of hope for returning to normal in the future.

This patient hasn't had medical care in years, has moderate cognitive and substantial short term memory issues, and didn't know how to navigate support systems. Dr. Morgan has been helping us identify specialists to deal with his laundry list of medical needs. One of the most important aspects of care, especially with vulnerable individuals, is to treat the patient with dignity and respect. Dr. McKoy addressed our patient directly and has crafted a plan to deal with his issues. He has a care team to support our preparation for surgery and to help our family member and us through the process. I feel like we're in really good hands. One final note. Dr. McKoy is a person of faith, and asked if he could pray in advance of surgery and right then. He paused and offered a prayer in the moment. Why is this important? Haven't we all been seen by a medical practitioner who was arrogant and less than supportive at some point? No matter how brilliant they might be, their demeanor is painful. Frankly, I believe it's critical to have skilled providers who are able to engage with their patients on a human level. Dr. McKoy is an excellent example of such a practitioner.
