unfortunately, I took my son to get a wart taken care of on his foot. I ended up treating it at home myself after an extremely large bill. After our appointment was move four hours ahead of our scheduled time my son who is seven and I sat there for 2 1/2 hours before we even saw the doctor. After that the second time we came back to be treated and unwrapped our bandage five days later, the spot was not even treated. It was to the right of his wart. After I called multiple times and could not get in and they could not take care of this. I was billed an extreme amount. When I called to talk about it because it is a private owned office, I was told there was nothing they could do about it even though, I treated it at home. Very disappointing! I have been going to Dr. Mytinger twice per year since 2014. I get cortisone shots in my ankle joint. He is always so kind and careful not to cause pain. I loved his demeanor and attentiveness so much that I brought my teenage son to him for a deformity of his foot. Dr. Mytinger had x-rays done and a scan to be sure what exactly needed to be done. He suggested a second opinion for my own peace of mind but I didn't need one. He is the only doctor and surgeon that I have felt 100% comfortable with and whom I trust wholeheartedly. He did surgery on my son's foot to reposition it. It wasn't an easy task. Dr. Mytinger wanted to be sure everything was ok. He told me to call anytime (even if it was 3AM) if I had any concerns at all. I didn't need to call him but the fact that he is willing to do that is amazing. He has the biggest heart and one of the most attentive people I have had the privilege of meeting. He truly cares about his patients. I have to note that his staff at his office are just as wonderful as he is. I would recommend Dr. Mytinger at Nigro Foot & Ankle to anyone. I went to this office once. Phone calls of importance never returned, and when you call them they have no clue what you are talking about. Second appointment, I arrive on time and they are closed. I call them immediately and the receptionist insists she called and left a voicemail that they closed that day when I'm fact there was no calls on my phone from them. I had a bunionectomy on my right foot and 2nd toe fusion on 1/11/21. It was performed by Dr. Jeffrey Nigro and Dr. Jesse Mytinger. I purchased a boot, knee rover, and wheelchair to prevent load bearing on the foot. I went to the office for exams and X-rays each month and met with Dr. Jeffrey Nigro each time. In April Dr. Nigro said a non-union formed. He recommended getting a bone stimulator. I continue to use it to this date. On 10/8/21 I went for my regular monthly visit. I was having pain around the metal plate from the surgery and tingling in my big toe and second toe. I usually had X-rays done in his office. He told me to go to UPMC because his weren't as clear. I went after the appointment. The X-rays showed the screw broke, the plate was coming loose, periostitis of the big toe, and could not rule out osteomyelitis. I got a call from the office to start the boot and knee rover again. He saw me the following week to go over the results. He told me if I was 100 pounds the screw would not have broken. I questioned whether there was a defect in the kit. He said no. I questioned myself why would a 300 pound person use the same kit as a 100 pound person. We agreed on having a second surgery with a bone graft from the heel. He said he would work on the insurance and call me in a few weeks. I received a call on 10/19/21 telling me to come in at 5pm. He told me that he didn't have the resources to treat me. He has told me in the past he hates dealing with UPMC preauthorizations. He gave me a number for UPMC and a doctors name and said to contact them. He told me he was not abandoning me, but that's not how it feels. He gave me prescriptions for a CBC and ct scan. I did the blood work the next day and got the results Saturday. The results indicated inflammation and/or infection. I went to the ER. The ER did more blood work and an MRI. Dr. Nigro told me the plate would interfere with an MRI. The ER said it would not. It makes me think he did not want to do the insurance work for the MRI. The ER told me to contact a foot doctor at the hospital. I called today and the doctor is seeing me tomorrow. I sent emails to update Dr. Nigro throughout the weekend and today and have not heard a word back from him. I knew going into the surgery there could be complications. I was fine with that. This incident will make it harder to trust medical providers in the future. I did make a complaint with the state board to do an investigation so this hopefully won't happen to someone else. read more
