Okay, so I ordered take out from this place - didn't have a menu so we ordered in Chinese to make sure I wasn't getting swindled. Ended up with "Gong bao ji ding" - that's chilli and chicken and chilli and cashew and chilli and garlic and chilli. I also got a thinly sliced pork version we call "Hui wor rou" and then some greens cooked in garlic. It came to £28.10 - I can't help but suspect they charged me for delivery.
Anyway, the gong bao ji ding was very very good, I enjoyed it thoroughly. The hui wo rou was definitely a bit too dry for my liking and not quite fatty enough. When the pork fat absorbs all the chilli and peppercorn spiciness, it's sensational. The greens in garlic were good - but nothing to shout about. Generally, as with most szechuan food, they were very heavy handed with spices and I suspect MSG.
All in all, the food was very good, downside is that I felt slightly over-charged for it and the food is crammed with MSG on top of all the spices and chillis. I'm a deep sleeper and I ended up waking up in the middle of the night for a drink.
In Wembley, this is probably as good as szechuan food's likely to get in the future. I'd have to recommend it in this case! read more
