She made us feel safe and comfortable from the very beginning, and gave clear instructions so we always knew what to do. She tailored our ride to how "spicy" we wanted to make it, so since it was our first time rafting, that made us feel great. The trip was the perfect level of excitement for us as beginners. It was fun, thrilling, and adventurous without ever feeling overwhelming. My sons, ages 10 and 13, had an absolute blast and want to plan another trip back. We even got to see a bald eagle along the river, it was phenomenal. The weather was perfect, and the whole experience was incredibly well organized. It's also just under two hours from Denver, making it a great day trip. We really appreciated the free parking, and they kept our car keys safely in the office while we were out on the river. We felt completely comfortable leaving everything else locked in our car. We couldn't have asked for a better first rafting experience. We would absolutely recommend them to anyone, especially families and first-time rafters. Definitely opt for the photo package too - the pictures we received were stunning and memorable. My sole purpose for coming to Kanemoto Park was just to see the Japanese Pagoda & Gate…read more At the entrance to the Tower Of Compassion, which is the real name of the Pagoda, stands a red torii gate. There's a tree that is so big that it partially obscures the view of the tower itself if you're standing in front of the torii gate. The tower looks like a traditional Japanese Temple. It was built in 1973. It has 5 stories with each representing the attributes of compassion which are Love, Empathy, Understanding, Gratitude of all Things, and Giving Selflessly of Oneself. You can't enter the Pagoda. Not sure if there's even anything to see, but it might be cool to just look inside! Cool Fact: Longmont City Council has designated this Tower Of Compassion a Local Historical Landmark. In the area in front of the Tower is the Kanemoto Memorial Cherry Tree Grove, where there's a good number of Cherry Trees. I don't think these cherries are edible. This 7-acre park was donated to Longmont by the Kanemoto family in 1966. Side note: This family also gifted 10 more acres of land for other facilities like a Fire Station, Buddhist temple, Episcopal Church, Elementary School and the St. Vrain Greenway. Besides the Tower Of Compassion, this park has a nice playground, activity pool, basketball court, soccer/playing Fields, sand volleyball, & adult exercise equipment. On the cement path leading to the Pool & Tower of Compassion, and just outside of the restrooms, there's a large Dragonfly metal decoration. I love dragonflies, so it was a nice sight! The Left Hand Creek runs alongside this part of the path. It only takes a few minutes to walk to this tower. It's worth a visit if you're in the area. However, I made it a point to stop by on my way to another destination while visiting the area.

I did not bring my phone because the trail is a little over a mile, so did not capture the full beauty. Ironically, it is man's intervention which makes it look natural. There is ugly metal fencing bordering the creek, reservoir, and farm land. In part to contain invasive species. From a distance, it does not mar the view. It is odd that people were swimming in the reservoir, and it is clearly bordering private land. Sadly, it does not look like there is public access. I visited after work, and when I headed back to my car the lot was completely full. I was the only person without a dog. It has become the local dog park. Probably because of the fencing, and it is very flat so Fido can be spotted from afar. The beginning of the trail has powerlines, but when you reach the loop it opens up and very sunny. Glad I stopped but probably won't return because it is so short.

Thornton consisted solely of farmland, but Thornton has 81 city parks, so like I said... not completely in the middle of nowhere!! LOL. Thornton has several shopping areas, such as Larkridge Mall, Thornton Town Center, and Thorncreek Crossing Shopping Center. Larkridge is home to national anchor tenants, big box retailers, and restaurants, and has a pedestrian village. Larkridge is anchored by Colorado's first Sears Grand store, Dick's Sporting Goods, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and PetsMart. DaveCo Liquor Store is the largest liquor store in the world.
