The historic storm and they pick and chose where they work on restoring power. Work on the higher ones first in La Porte and then residential areas. Discussion humane business We have had 2 power outages on 7/4/2026 power was out 4 days Now power is out again 8/ 11/2026 with no date of reconnection or estimated time for reconnecting service Food spoiled over 7/4 outage and was told basically to bad contact Catholic charities or red cross Simply disgusting! Now it's Aug 12 no power and Nipsco trucks no were to be seen anywhere? When you call there phone it's automatically not able to reach a live employee it tells to to contact 41111 and put 'OUT" which is not set up as a relevant number.Niosco is inhumane and I hope there is Karma to each person involved with there company!They have over charged people with no representation for people who are low income or disabled Nipsco will shut your utilities off if your over 30 days late They don't care they are holding your deposit either they litterly will shut your utilities off! We've been waiting day after day for them to show up to restore our electricity, and we're paying thousands of dollars to get our power fixed, but they didn't show up. Will tell you that you're out of luck if the power goes out and you take insulin or use medical devices. It should be their job to have everything up The same day!! We pay so much and are lied too so often that it's the least they could do. Heat is 350-400 dollars a month in the winter. Summer is a blessing because AC is about half that at 68 degrees set. My power has been out since 6/6/26 at 4pm. I spoke with a customer sevice agent that stated the power would be restored by 730pm. I left my phone number with her for updates. It is now 6/7/26 at 2am and my power is still off. According to Nipsco Map, there are only 100 houses out. I seen the Nipsco trucks at 1:30am. I've lost over $300 in groceries from my now defrosted freezer. This is unacceptable. With all of the fees we have to pay, we should be issued generators. My cats and a dog are miserable because of the outage. Nipsco website advises that acts of nature do not constitute replacing refrigerated items. There was rain but no thunder and lighting. I need to be compensated for my discomfort. I would have gave the rating zero stars if I could. If Nipsco is short staff. I have several individuals that would love a career. NIPSCO has continually raised our utility rates and their service has continued to get worse. Rather than do something about it, they make excuses. They discriminate against older neighborhoods, leaving them last to restore power. The state attorney general should really do something about this. NIPSCO has a monopoly on providing electricity and gas on NWI and abuses it's customers. Hopefully there will be a class action lawsuit against them read more

My review is only for their employee Bob O. who came to my house today on Dec 8, 2025 in Schererville. He was outstanding. Such a nice guy . So helpful. I'm disabled /wheelchair bound and waking up to carbon monoxide alarms blaring in the AM is a scary situation. He went above and beyond. Do I think Nipsco overcharges - yes. That's a separate issue. The contractor they hired was obviously trained to leave out information every time you spoke with them so that their "opt-out" would never be completed, leading you to believe the opposite. The first person that scanned the bar code didn't even appear to have the part (again, no one should have come) -- This is after requesting the opt-out multiple times with their partners in crime. Incompetent IDIOTS...... I had an electric "smart" meter switched out by an NIPSCO employee that never reported that he didi it. This was 4 months ago. Since then I've been visited 6 times by different idiots wanting to change out my electric meter. And 6 times I had to tell them it has been changed out. The last moron took a picture of the meter and said he would let them know. Now today another idiot came out with a new meter wanting to change it. All this hassle because the NIPSCO employee that did switch it out didn't have enough brains to inform his company that he did it. They obviously don't know WTF they're doing. read more

How is Nipsco able to raise their prices the way they have?!?! Our electric bill was 850 last month and we are FRUGAL! We have done everything we can to lower our electric bill and it just keeps going up. How do they expect people to survive with those kind of prices?! It has caused arguments in our house and a HUGE amount of stress. I am so concerned that we are going to have to move over Nipsco. I have had to pick up extra hours and make cuts on the things that we enjoy just to pay the damn electric bill. NIPSCO is the worst electric provider for Indiana they offered me a credit of almost $600 3 days ago and they took it back and said I have a balance of $200 and $5 the price gouging is unreal and unbelievable I absolutely hate NIPSCO I left Illinois and was using ComEd and ComEd is way better than NIPSCO they are price gouging and taking advantage of vulnerable customers I am going to talk to my local senator because this company is a rip off for sure. read more

My first review is about nipsco and that's the only problem I have with Indiana,now if nipsco controls the whole Indiana state why is it so difficult for them to be accountable for the company they hired to trim trees? Nipsco hired energy group to trim trees next to my property and they damaged my fence and gate by letting tree limbs fall onto my fence and this happened April 23 and I've been complaining since then and by me living in Gary I was told we don't care about our properties so why should nipsco. I've called the bbb as well as the FTC and nipsco responded saying they addressed the issue which was a lie if my income was more I would have repaired it myself. Again, nipsco hired energy group and my property was damaged and now nipsco wants me to sign up for paperless billing so they don't have to pay to send me bills, why should people help nipsco out when nipsco doesn't care about you or your property. read more

First off if you've ever tried to lodge a complaint with NIPSCO you have your work cut out for you as you will get an automated answering system which really doesn't address any of YOUR concerns but only THEIRS. ( How do we get paid?) Recently we reported a gas leak and NIPSCO came out and put in a new meter as theirs was faulty in the process they caused a gas leak inside my office. How do I know that? No leak before they replaced the meter but one immediately thereafter. They did not deny that they caused the leak but responded that anything on the inside is my responsibility even if they caused it. Why is that? Because that is their policy.
