We also liked it's proximity to Edmonton while not being in Edmonton. To get here it's a bit confusing as there are 2 Holiday Inn Expresses right besides each other so make sure you go to the one you booked! It's also beside a train line and trains with their horns could be heard through the night which could be annoying to some. The property was very clean and we used the pool every day of our stay here. The pool is a bit smaller than some of the pictures we saw suggest and one of the nights it was super busy. My youngest enjoyed the water slide - word of warning it is very fast! I also used the fitness center once and it was adequate for my needs. The hot breakfast provided every morning was very welcome. There was fruit, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, selection of hot foods like sausages, hashbrowns, and omelets or scrambled eggs depending on the day. There was a auto pancake maker which was used quite a lot during our stay here which resulted in some lines. Selection of muffins, breads, a cinnamon rolls round out the food. And a juice station at the end (apple, orange, cranberry). The family enjoyed the breakfast. It's not a big breakfast area so getting a seat was a challenge. We booked the 2 queen suite and it was quite roomy. Plenty of space for our family of 4. The beds were comfortable. We liked that the provided body wash, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and hand wash all pump format which is easier to use and more sanitary. Everything was clean and the staff were friendly and efficient. There is coffee, tea, and ice water at the lobby where you check-in which was a nice touch. We definitely will stay here again.

Given another room which was fine with me. Told nothing about checkout time, fitness room, dining or anything else. First impressions upon arrival was wondering if the hotel was still in business. Zero landscaping seems to have been done for at least a year. Tall weeds and grass all around and on the property. The carpet sorely needs to be replaced throughout the hotel, especially in the hallway for my room on the first floor. In the room, the armchair has stains splattered across it and seems the original orange color is now a rusty brown. Light comes in under the door. No pen or notepad nor any hotel or dining info in the room. Rustic desktop lamp from decades ago gives little light. Appreciated the sink counterpoint and large mirror. The towels are stored *inside* the shower that didn't get warm enough water. Had to run the sink for 15 minutes to get warm enough water to wash my face. Thermostat doesn't work. AC unit in room worked, thank goodness, but grumbled and groaned to life each cycle. The bed was comfortable. The pillows flat. Bar soap only. The only other toiletries were shampoo, conditioner and lotion. No iron or laundry services. Breakfast not complimentary. Didn't use the fitness center or pool. Large parking lot that needs repaving and lines repainted. The hotel doesn't require the vehicle plate number.

Hilton is my chain of choice but I'll rethink this particular location…read more The good... the staff is very friendly, remembers you, and helpful on items within their control. Quiet room, comfortable bed, and clean. Solid wi-fi. The not so good... fitness room equipment broken/ off (4 of the 5 pieces), carpet throughout needs replaced, water was finally hot on day 3 so as not to freeze in the shower, room door lets light in, restaurant dinner tasted like it was out of the microwave, refrigerator in room too noisy to turn on, and the elevator (1 of 2 units) broken. Just shabby for a garden inn.

There's a grand piano sculpture by the front desk and the Steels bar and restaurant to the right. -No carpeting in room; the floor is sort of a artificial strip flooring whether vinyl or some other similar material. It's good in a sense that carpets are basically collectors of everything. This is a nice change. -5 full size pillows on the King bed; I like this, there's another in the closet -Keurig coffee station in room; I'm not a coffee drinker but if I wanted tea how do you this this to just make hot water? -Bath and Bodyworks toiletries -24 hour room service -Window opens for fresh air Negatives = -One of the pot lights over the bed didn't work. -Bathroom ceiling looked not to be clean; I don't know or want to know what was on the ceiling exactly. -The hairdryer wasn't working so I called down to tell them. I didn't want them to think I broke it. They brought a replacement. -The Keurig coffee maker didn't look to be clean, there was a lime buildup inside the machine so it looked like I didn't really want to use it anyway. -The TV had Shaw Cable. At times watching TV was unbearable as the cable would become blocky and the sound would stutter. This happened on almost all the stations and it happened more than once (my stay was 3 nights). Bottom line: I chose this hotel this time because it is where most of my coworkers stay when we visit the Alberta office so I thought I'd give it a try. Overall the room was comfortable and mostly clean. There's plenty of parking and I didn't find myself having to park very far away. I would return to the Executive Royal again as I received a pretty good deal and the negatives besides the TV problem were minor issues to me.

Only issue, fix the guest dryer that squeals it is the worst like that noise is the absolute worst, , my husband and I considered leaving it was so loud. It's probably just a fan belt but so so annoying. I'd also rearrange the foyer it's so chopped up and divided. It would be much nicer opened up and have obvious garbage can in the foyer.

Ripped up carpet. Loose door knobs. Gaps in the door. Room window view was of a trailer home. Toilet paper wasn't on a roller when. Well you get the idea. This ain't no Travelodge. I'm joking - it's comparable actually. Everything about this places screams Budget galore. And the sad part it, it's actually not cheap. But it's cheaper than the other options.
