I have NEVER IN MY LIFE called a cab company and they pick up someone else! As a new resident to…read morePaterson (I'm originally from Maplewood), sometimes I call local car companies to pick me up from the train station or to and from the nail salon. Tonight at about 8:10pm I called this company and the dispatcher told me,"Driver will be right there, 2 minutes". I went outside immediately and waited for 7 minutes with halfway dried toes, standing in flip flops in 40 degree weather. I quickly determined this wasn't smart and stood in the doorway of the nail salon, while calling this company back to establish the ETA. When I called back a woman answered and let me know my driver hadn't come yet but should be pulling up ANY SECOND. Now, I didn't know Paterson had several cab companies, as I watched different ones zoom by I could clearly tell, they were not my ride. Shortly after a red cab came inching down the street, I watched it pull off from in front of 146 Market Street. I was in the doorway of 170 Market. As I called the company back just to confirm this cab was mine, another person hopped into it. When the dispatcher answered, I asked her if this was my car and if so, why was someone else getting inside. She tells me,"You weren't outside so your driver picked someone else up, but just go in the car". That driver was not waiting more than 15 seconds before he ASKED the woman in the street if she NEEDED a ride. I know because I watched the whole thing. When I asked to speak to a manager or owner, they simply told me, if I don't like it, don't ride their cabs. I went home astonished at the piss poor customer service, but believe me, I won't go where my money isn't respected! I don't care if it's only a few bucks! Rude. Rude. Rude and the driver was Rude too!!!!

This is a review of the largest O scale, three rail train club in the United States. The layout is…read more40' wide by 185' wide. They are a club, so for most of the year the only way to visit it is to become a member. If you like model trains and live in the area that isn't a problem. However, they also host public open houses several times a year (usually around the winter holiday seasons). Once Covid restrictions lifted I went with my wife to see. Admission was $7 for adults, and much less for children. It was totally worth it. First off, the layout isn't built to serve as a museum so it isn't an "educational" place with lots of explanatory posters and exhibits. It also isn't a place to drop your kids off and leave for a couple of hours. There are some buttons around the edges to interact with the layout (move trains, light up structures, etc.) but again this isn't a museum per se and it wasn't designed for that. It is a large layout built for the enjoyment of the members which also happens to occasionally be open to the public. Instead, it is a place for kids (of all ages) to wander around and see lots of trains operating at once. I think I counted at least a dozen going through various scenes representing everything from the gritty NYC downtown areas to harbors/ports, residential areas, railroad yards, and commercial factories. I would say they have a decided slant toward modeling subways too. We went during Halloween so there were many additional scenic accessories that I assume were placed for the holiday. They also have a few additional gems located away, such as several layouts used in the Soprano's television show (the "garage" layout, and the "death scene" layout) as well as Tom Snyder's (the television personality) personal layout. They are not open to the public, but are accessible to members. Also visible on the wall was the dispatching board for Grand Central Terminal that looked to be close to 80' long. Finally, I should point out a couple of things related to its location. It is in in an old warehouse in a "tired" part of town. I thought it was a "bad" part but was told by a member that the bad part of town was actually a few blocks away. Parking is street parking only, and very tight. You might think you are lost in trying to find it as it is surrounded by car shops, scrap yards, and mini marts. You need to enter the building and go up to the third floor, and signage isn't great. But... for those who like trains... especially toy three-rail trains... it is definitely worth the trip!

You'll receive an immediate email confirmation with the price upon making the reservation. The phone representatives are always very accommodating. Should there be a concern, the owner Lou will take care of the matter immediately. Also, I found the drivers are not gabbing throughout the ride anymore. The drivers have become much more accommodating. Keep up the good work Garden State A-1!!!

The luxury of a private car to the airport is a great one. Especially after I took the SuperShuttle…read moreservice from JFK to the place I was staying on the Upper West Side, convenience and speed were key. The driver, arranged through the concierge at my building, was at my door on time and he got me to the airport in about an hour at rush hour. However: 1. It cost $70 and the guy refused to tell me the rate until we were several miles away. 2. He didn't take cards, only cash. 3. He listened to terrible music and SANG ALONG. 4. The 'free snacks' were Captain's Wafers, an apple and bubble gum. I passed on everything but a stick of gum. 5. He listened to baseball on the radio. 6. He talked on the phone a lot. 7. He acted like he had to take a toll road and I should pay him for it. I knew he didn't have to do so, so he eventually relented and paid the toll himself. The ride was plush, not bumpy or uncomfortable, and I got where I needed to be. I don't know that I'd bother with this service in particular again, though.
