Don't miss this hidden gem. Almost reminiscent of a big city speakeasy. Amazing cocktails and great service. Atmosphere is top notch. Great date night intimate atmosphere.

We had an amazing experience here lastnight. Me and my lady were searching for a speakeasy after leaving the red Light District and funny enough there was one right by the hotel that made worrying about getting home sauced not that much of an issue. From the moment our lovley host greeted us at the door we were treated as family. The bar is not very big and i did hear them mention other floors but we were firmly planted on what appears to be the 2nd floor front and center at the bar. My first drink was the Bossa Nova an amazing drink with egg white in it seeing the bartender crack that egg into the mixing cup my stomach started turning but once the cocktail came together and it was presented in front of me I was amazed the taste was perfect and the foam on top was quite thick and had a bittersweet to it. My next drink was the La-di-da Bandita also an amazing drink with many great flavors and very fresh ingredients. As the night was winding down and the bartender was getting ready to head out he slipped us 2 shots and given the name "Pink Pussy" I knew i was going to like this drink almost as much as the real thing even though the real thing was gonna be coming home with me. This was a great night and we will probably stop here again b4 we leave.

Very cool small spot in the city. More upscale. The bartender truly amazed us where he not only was extremely polite and patient but also shared his passion about the drinks. It is a beautiful, intimate spot to spend with your partner.

One of the highlights of my first trip to Amsterdam recently. Stopped after spending the day at the Museumplein and what a treat. Small, intimate space that was just the right amount of warm and cozy on a cold rainy evening. The menu of drinks is extensive and very creative. Ordered the "Sean Connery" and the "Forbidden Fruits" to start. Wonderful. Next round was "Honey I'm home" and the "Lollipop". Finished the night with an "Envy Me". Gigi our bartender was a delight. Enjoyed the evening so much, went back two nights later. Highly recommend.

Great creative drinks at this place. It felt more like a lounge inside, but they made drinks just as good as any craft cocktail or speakeasy bar. Menu changes, but I had an awesome drink covered in sunflower seeds, sounds weird, but it was amazing. Well worth stopping into if you are around.

Good for cocktails. From simple to the more elaborated ones. Expect to see lots of glasses on fire. Literally. Place is tight and underground feels like being at a train wagon. To enter you need to ring the bell. Inside all sort of people drinking and charing as usual to good cocktail bars. Downstairs there is also a full bar serving as if we were at a train wagon.

After scaling the red light district and only coming across bars, we finally found a speakeasy tucked away far from the red light district. Waking by we only saw the name and was greater with "hello sexy people, please come in". That was more than enough to pull me in. This place is very small and intimate and all of the staff were very attentive. The place also smelled soo good like a sexy fragrance. To drink I ordered a frozen drink, the combustible zombie which had 4 different rum, absinthe, passion fruit and grapefruit. This drink when I sipped it, didn't taste like alcohol at all but it it was so delicious. I felt I couldn't walk away without trying another drink, so I ordered Pandora's passion, another well crafted drink with egg white which I wouldn't have thought would enhance a drink beyond the deliciousness it already had. All in I felt being at this bar is what I wanted to see from Amsterdam!!

We loved this cool, cozy, and fun cocktail bar. Fun drinks and great bar tender. We loved the Lobster Bitterballs and the Parmesan with truffle honey.

Would be 5 stars except for the price, although I may just be stingy (each of my drinks was €12). The bartenders were amazingly conversational and polite. The cocktails were extraordinary! The cocktails are separated by "personality" on the menu. I had two from the dreamers sections. I had a C&S Delight and another fruity vodka drink that I can't remember the name of and they were both top notch. The bartender definitely knew what he was doing and made effort to make sure we enjoyed our beverages. I definitely recommend this place if you enjoy trying new things and a good laugh.

Basically was like um yea it just has spices in it. Spices may not be gluten free and could be of concern for a celiac. I asked him if any drinks were gluten free and he said all but 2. I wasn't confident that the drinks would be made separately from the non- gluten drinks so I opted not to get one. My friend got the bees knees and said it was really tasty. The server did come back and switch my water to regular at the end but he should have been upfront with what he gave to prevent any exposure to peoples allergies.

The space is really cool, with some neat lit-up signs behind the bar and antique paintings on the ceiling. I tried a few cocktails and they were all tasty. These included the Flying Dutchmen -- their signature cocktail -- and the Umami Margarita. I was a bit hesitant about the Dutchmen because it was with gin and orange, but I liked it a lot. The margarita was unusual with some mushroom dust on the rim. Our server was very friendly and helpful.

Carlota who answered the doorbell, was able to accommodate us at the bar (our preferred seating anyway). She took our coats, placed them in the coat closet up front and led us inside. Once seated, we were given gorgeous ruby red complimentary aperitif (hibiscus, honey, ginger). The drink menu is interesting, based on the concept of growing up, with more basic tastes to start and more mature complex tastes later on in life. (The drinks are more complex the later in the menu). I ordered the Awake at Last, and my husband ordered the Ruby Stone. Mine was sweet and coffee flavored and his was more tart and sour cherry flavored. When I tried his drink, I immediately felt nostalgic because it reminded me of umeboshi (pickled plum in Japanese food), so we ended up trading drinks. Both were great for supping. Sitting at the bar was fun, watching the bartender at his work. He was silent, focused, skilled, professional. So glad we checked it out! I didn't post pictures of the entrance or inside because I'll leave it to you to discover! (The fun of a speakeasy).

Tucked on an old…read morecanal in a historic inn, it feels less like a bar and more like a small salon devoted to Dutch drinking culture. The rooms read like a cabinet of curiosities: intimate, storyful, quietly romantic. The team centers Dutch spirits, especially genever, and treats the menu as a narrative rather than a list of brands. Seasonal themes frame the drinks by flavor profile and history, and even the snacks stay in character, with simple Dutch-leaning bites that support what's in the glass instead of competing with it. The craft is serious. Most of the cocktails look disarmingly plain in the glass. No umbrellas, no edible terrariums, no theatrics for their own sake. Then you take a sip and the bouquet opens in layers, and the mid palate carries on a long arc that rewards attention. It is the rare bar where you keep drinking more slowly because the drink keeps revealing itself. The menu is a pleasure to read on its own, the kind you can happily peruse between sips as you decide whether to follow the thread of genever, lean into a vermouth frame, or chase something herbal and saline. Service is warm and informed without hovering, which suits the room's scale and keeps the experience personal. Practicalities shape the vibe in a good way. It is small and seating-only, which preserves the hush. Entry skews first-come, and the crowd trends grown-up and conversation-forward rather than boisterous. Taken together, it adds up to a bar with a clear voice and a point of view: unassuming appearances, rigorous composition, deep roots in Dutch tradition. If you love elegant, sophisticated and distinctive cocktails, this is a destination.

Apple Maps told me we were less than 1/2 mile away so we headed over there. Located just off a canal on a pedestrian walkway basically at the start of the Red Light District, we arrived soon after they opened and got a nice table near the bar. Forget ordering what you usually drink- the menu has dozens of concoctions most of which looked real good. I ordered a "T&S Old Fashion and my wife had "The Girl Next Door". Both were drink types we usually don't order but we loved them enough to order another round. Speaking of the menu-it's pretty entertaining besides all the drink choices. Also entertaining was watching the bartenders making the drinks with a huge flair of showmanship. Music tracks were great as well. Could have just stayed to listen to the music. The food options looked tasty as well but we were still full from lunch so we just opted to drink. By the time we left, Tales was pretty full. A fun place to come back to and recommend to friends.
