I hate that I don't have photos of this bar or our drinks but this was my absolute favorite bar in Amsterdam! It's a speakeasy as special as they come. They also have a book of Fables with moveable cutouts/pop ups that make for fun drinking games AND they have drinks to go with said fables but you can tell the bar tenders about yourself and be pleasantly surprised with what they whip up too. We had so much fun there, I would go again and definitely recommend it!

Tiny speakeasy (yes, there's a doorbell!) specializing in craft cocktails. The ambiance is so warm and cozy, just right for a dark winter's night. The decor manages to be tasteful bordering on kitschy. My date thoughtfully made a reservation, and we had a beautiful couch area in the back of the bar to ourselves. Everyone who served us was observant, thoughtful, and warm. A nuanced detail that is rare in Amsterdam: they made sure to refill our water glasses promptly and throughout the night, and I really appreciated that. The central location lends itself as welcome a respite from the madness of the rest of the Centrum partying. It's the perfect place for something classic (what can I say I'm an old fashioned girl) or to try something invented by the knowledgeable bartender by suggesting the spirits and flavors that you like. So good that I went back again the next evening. And that's not something I do often.

Holy smokes! This bar was seriously one of the best I've been to in my life! I saw the Yelp five stars when I recently visited Amsterdam and was intrigued. My group and I showed up unannounced and rang their bell to be let inside. We were sad to hear that we couldn't enter without a reservation but we checked and saw that they had an opening for the next day so we booked it! When I say we booked it, I mean there is a 10€ deposit per person in order to book a reservation. This money is then applied to your final balance. I loved the sleek speakeasy feel of this bar. The staff were all friendly and talented. The selection was off the chart! I say this because I was able to enjoy Pappy Van Winkle 12 AND 23! The bourbon selection was magnificent. They also had a great selection of bar food that complimented the drinks. I cannot speak highly enough of this spot and I recommend you check it out without delay!

Love the intimacy of this place. Looks like the place handles no more than 20 people. There is bar seating and several 2 seaters from what I remembered. Nice place for a date. My cocktail bartender, Mathew, was a delight. He was very attentive and shared a short intro of the menu theme. Recommend the Vieux Carre as it's a classic. Cheers

Margarita and Mojito, cool vibe, smooth music.

Mad Props from American travelers, hundred percent recommend fellow peeps seeking a tasty drink and a true Ámsterdam ambiance experience. Service was great!

Quaint speakeasy style cocktail bar with friendly waitstaff and a unique menu! Their spring/summer menu is a play on flavors where they tell you what the drink should taste like without actually using that ingredient (ie their banana drink is a rum based drink with no bananas in it). Note that its a very place maybe 20 people max so be prepared to wait during peak times!

Walking by on the street and the warm, amber colored lights caught my attention. I peered in the window and I was so pleased to see ... a BAR! Sharp dressed bartender and a host welcomed us in with VERY friendly smile. Luckily there was one table left. I think I would have been heart broken if I could not have sampled the work of these fine gentlemen. We were shown a comfortable spot in the back but that makes it sound big ... it is not. Maybe 8 small tables and few seats at the bar. The menu had Dutch inspired cocktails so we proceeded to let our host drive us to a decision. My girlfriend selected a tart, vodka based drink that looked close to cosmopolitan but had more lemon aftertaste and a pretty egg white foam and a tiny edible flower on top. I had a Jenever Old Fashioned using the Dutch local alcohol. Wow! Please go!

Loved this hidden spot, first night I went it was too busy and place is small so we couldn't get in. we came back two days later and hostess/bartender remember my name and was very nice. The menu is unique and gives lot to choose from. I loved every drink I had.

I wasn't confident that the drinks would be made separately from the non- gluten drinks so I opted not to get one. My friend got the bees knees and said it was really tasty. The server did come back and switch my water to regular at the end but he should have been upfront with what he gave to prevent any exposure to peoples allergies.

The space is really cool, with some neat lit-up signs behind the bar and antique paintings on the ceiling. I tried a few cocktails and they were all tasty. These included the Flying Dutchmen -- their signature cocktail -- and the Umami Margarita. I was a bit hesitant about the Dutchmen because it was with gin and orange, but I liked it a lot. The margarita was unusual with some mushroom dust on the rim. Our server was very friendly and helpful.

Carlota who answered the doorbell, was able to accommodate us at the bar (our preferred seating anyway). She took our coats, placed them in the coat closet up front and led us inside. Once seated, we were given gorgeous ruby red complimentary aperitif (hibiscus, honey, ginger). The drink menu is interesting, based on the concept of growing up, with more basic tastes to start and more mature complex tastes later on in life. (The drinks are more complex the later in the menu). I ordered the Awake at Last, and my husband ordered the Ruby Stone. Mine was sweet and coffee flavored and his was more tart and sour cherry flavored. When I tried his drink, I immediately felt nostalgic because it reminded me of umeboshi (pickled plum in Japanese food), so we ended up trading drinks. Both were great for supping. Sitting at the bar was fun, watching the bartender at his work. He was silent, focused, skilled, professional. So glad we checked it out! I didn't post pictures of the entrance or inside because I'll leave it to you to discover! (The fun of a speakeasy).

We were going on a boat tour that afternoon, to see all the light installations, so we made sure the timing was right to get to Pulitzer's on time! We had a 6:00 reservation, and got there promptly and found the door that we were to enter. The door was locked, but there was a sign that said 'please wait, someone will be with you soon'. Our wait was very short, and someone promptly came, greeted us and took us to our seats at the bar. Because a reservation, I believe is required, (not 200% about that), we were wondering if it would be a bit stuffy. It was not at all, everyone that we spoke to was very friendly, and great service at the bar. There were other couch settings and a few different set ups, but as usual, we love the bar. Our drinks were fabulous and we tried three of their menu items- only have appetizers, but they were very good. In talking to my sister and her husband, after we returned home, who had just been to Amsterdam, I realized that they stayed at the Pulitzer hotel, which we did not know when we were there. They loved the hotel - so I can give a recommendation for that as well. They said all the rooms are different and they really loved their room. I think everyone would really enjoy a stay at the Pulitzer hotel and definitely get a reservation to Pulitzer's bar- you won't be disappointed.

We ordered beef bitterballen to try this traditional Dutch comfort food. Both were delicious! Meanwhile, we chatted with Iago the bartender, and Lily the manager. We learned more about Amsterdam and why so many people come here from elsewhere in Europe to work. Iago was super fun to talk to. He'd lived in Amsterdam for 7 years and It was only his first week here at NJoy. He was skilled as a bartender, being able to mix fabulous cocktails and also hold an interesting conversation at the same time. We'd go back just to be able to talk with him again, such a friendly bartender, very attentive, and professional. The beef bitterballen was so hot we had to wait a bit to try it. It comes with savory mustard that is better than any mustard I've tried before. Not sure why. The bitterballen were crispy fried with beef ragú inside. I'm not a fan myself but am glad I tried it. Both were drink types we usually don't order but we loved them enough to order another round. Speaking of the menu-it's pretty entertaining besides all the drink choices. Also entertaining was watching the bartenders making the drinks with a huge flair of showmanship. Music tracks were great as well. Could have just stayed to listen to the music.
