Tara told us we'd love Kevin, they often work together, and are a dynamic duo that should don capes to be perfectly honest, but she told us we would love Kevin when we met him and sure enough we did. Our engagement photos were a barrel of monkeys which is exactly what we needed. I don't think I could handle spending that much time in front of a lens without good laughs and wit and Kevin is chalk full of both of them. I know he shot our friend's wedding and they have nothing but wonderful things to say about his work. Kevin is a consummate professional that comes across as a human being that understands he's working with normal people. Normally, I don't care if artists are "different" so long as they are talented... however; this is not the case when looking for a wedding photographer. I find posing in front of the camera AWKWARD as it is. Posing with your intended in lovey dovey ways is extra awkward. Doing said act in front of a mumbling expressionless photographer or an arrogant self-important cameraman makes everything worst - who wants that? Luckily for us, we found Jason! Wedding planning was the most stressful thing I've done in my whole life but our photographs were a breeze. Jason seems like a person we would be friends with. He has an easy going nature and we immediately felt comfortable with him. His prices were fair although it seems that he's going up due to the demand. He's also publishing a book for his insanely captivating photos of his daughters and getting a lot of recognition. JWL was one of our favorite, if not the best, vendor we had the pleasure working with. Initially, we did not want to take Engagement Photos. However, Jason insisted that it was a great way for us to get to know each other and for us to get used to being in front of the camera. From our initial meeting and engagement shoot to the wedding day and ultimately the delivery of our proofs, Jason has always been punctual and professional. Even his responses to email were lighting fast. When in action, Jason was great at talking us through all the poses, knew just the right moments for "natural/candid" shots, but also easily took charge with making sure our large wedding party and 200+ guests were included in our receiving line photographs. Everyone agreed he was easygoing and fun to work with, not to mention so friendly and polite! Jason is a creative and energetic photographer who is not afraid to experiment with different angles, filters, and lighting, or simply just "get in there" to produce a memorable shot. It's amazing to watch him scan a potential background with one eye shut, quickly compose the picture in his head, place you in it, gently pose an arm/leg/strand of hair/other body part, and tweak each nuance until it's perfect. Evan has shot every major event in my life from birthday parties, to our baby shower, to our baby shortly after his birth, to our work events. Evan was even willing to come to the hospital on short notice when I was in labor. The timing didn't work out but the fact that he was willing to come tells you everything you need to know about Evan. I'm so grateful for all the special memories Evan has captured over the years. I will cherish them for the rest of my life.

Not only did he produce the highest quality and most vibrant wedding photos that I've ever seen (if you want to see them, just ask) but he also provided invaluable advice of where the best places are in SF to shoot and what time of day is best for each of those locations. Our wedding ceremony was held in a redwood grove, which is a difficult environment to shoot in because of the high contrast between the shadows cast by the trees and the sunlight that gets through. But Tom did a fantastic job nevertheless. Additionally, he's a very hard-working, professional, and diplomatic person. He handled a number of situations that arose very well, situations that would have caused other photographers to lose it. I highly recommend Tom for any photography job.

I have worked with Alex on several very different projects and have found him to be reliable,…read moreaffordable, and SO easy to work with! On top of that, the quality and originality of his work really stands out. My first project with Alex involved the SF SPCA Animal Assistance Therapy Program. I was writing the feature articles for the group's newsletter and recruited Alex to schedule photo sessions with the dog therapy teams I was going to feature each month. In every case he captured unique moments between the dogs and their owners and the owners later told me how wonderful Alex was to work with; that he used their ideas for photo shoot locations, and made himself available at convenient times for them. When my sister and her boyfriend came to town last year I surprised them with a photo shoot by Alex at the Fairmont Hotel. We were riding up on the cable car to get there and Alex had already stationed himself near a corner of the Fairmont to get some of the first shots. He then trailed the couple through some of the glamorous balconies and stairs inside the Fairmont for some very romantic shots that my sister treasured and posted all over her Facebook page. Soon after I asked Alex to my own home for a natural, outdoor shoot with myself and my two Shih Tzus. Again - Alex more than delivered. I wound up with just the kind of natural (around the neighborhood) shots I had hoped for and immediately framed several of them for myself and relatives as gifts. I was also so impressed upon seeing some of the San Francisco area photos in Alex's online gallery that I asked to be able to feature the best of them, (on a monthly basis), on the homepage of my company's Internet site. We agreed on some reasonable terms and the photos added a wonderful corporate feel to the site - enhancing the company's image. Can I say more? His wedding photos not only documented what was happening at the weddings he shot, but also brought an artistic quality to each image. We had him shoot both our rehearsal dinner and our wedding, which he did very professionally. He made the photo shoots fun and relaxing by joking around with us and accommodating our preferences. Alex shot our wedding and met our expectations for the day…read more To give some context, our wedding was not the blowout extravaganza you might see on TLC where six figures are dropped so the bride can have ice sculptures and a chocolate fountain while being serenaded by Seal and a backup band.... not that there's anything wrong with that... Instead, we had a modest wedding in the Berkeley Rose Garden with a brief ceremony followed by cake. We definitely did not want our photos to be a bunch of posed shots, like my best man pantomiming that we were late by checking his watch and wiping his brow (actual shot from my uncle's wedding). We contracted with Alex for two hours of shooting. This included an hour of portraits prior to the ceremony and shots of the ceremony. Alex was flexible on arrangements and aggressive in his pricing. It looks like he's trying to build his portfolio, so expect to see your wedding on his website and Flickr (though I'm certain he would be open to discussion if that's an issue for you). He gave us the DVD with high quality files so we could play with them in Photoshop or print out our own. According to our arrangement, we received raw files, but it looks like he can do all the color correction and such to enhance the photos if that's what you're into. As for shooting, Alex came up with a number of excellent backgrounds to take advantage of the Rose Garden, and was working with what my friends claim are good bodies and lenses. All the shots were crisp and he caught some excellent candids. Our ceremony was about five minutes, but he gave us a number of good shots. Finally, Alex carries all his gear around on a shoot with a Batman utility belt. If your reaction was "nice...", then Alex will be a good fit for your wedding. If you wrinkled your nose, then you probably already booked the 2-man team for eight hours. Make sure they get good shots of you doing the Chicken Dance and Electric Slide.
