They will shaft you any way they can. I had made arrangements to buy an item from them, offered to send the money immediately, and they said no, call the next Monday. I had spent a LOT of time getting transportation arranged, called in a few favors, and had it all set up. SO, I call the morning, as requested and "Emily" cheerfully tells me they had sold the item, just that very morning. Be very careful dealing with this shady company. I've owned too many air-cooled and water-cooled VW's to remember. One thing I haven't forgotten is the quality of service and repair at the No Name Garage. Miles and his crew have serviced virtually every nut and bolt on many of my VW's at one point or another over the years. Vanagons, Bay Windows, Fastbacks, Split Windows, Bugs etc. They are hands down the best VW repair shop you will find anywhere on the West Coast. They speak the language, they get it! Most shops these days can't even work on a car without a laptop and if you say "aircooled" they don't know what you mean. These guys know how to roll their sleeves up and get it done right, and have the knowledge and experience to work on 50 year old VW's or 2 year old VW's. They have built several new motors for my various VW's to keep them on the road over the years, not to mention clutch's, brakes, transmissions, hard to find OEM parts, repairing 40 year old worn out ball joints and regular routine maintenance or even complete restorations. I have never had a problem. They diagnose the problem, repair it, and deliver. Lastly, they replaced the motor, all German, rebuilt motor for my 1971 VW bus 7 years ago. I am still driving it today, and I drive it every day. All I do is adjust the valves and change the oil with the oil they recommend, and do the routine maintenance. The Bus has never skipped a beat, and they even provided lots of original German parts to bring it back to it's original condition and keep it reliable and on the road. It's a 45 year old vehicle, but they make it reliable like new! If you need VW service these guys do it well, and do it right! Thanks Miles, Anthony, and crew! You guys deliver above and beyond! First day of our two week road trip our 85 Vanagon alternator was giving out. How often do you find a garage that specializes in *vintage* VW's? Very seldom. These guys know these cars inside and out. I'm sorry that colleen c, who also wrote a review, found them condescending; they've been our garage for 2 1/2 years, and we've never found them anything other than great--in both their work and their interactions with people. They've done great work for us, and they stand behind what they do. What more could you ask for? A fancier-looking garage? Nah, then their prices would have to go up. And they wouldn't have the very novel fence they currently have. We love 'em--and their very mellow welcoming committee, too! read more

I was a poor college student with a 1974 Bug that kept breaking. I was told to go to Miles because he's the one who knows about VW. And they were right. I've known him for 5 years now and any time I have a trouble with my car I go to him. He's never had a condescending attitude (and I know next to nothing about cars) and he's always been willing to help me out when I'm in a bind with my car and don't have money to fix it. I trust him completely and there's no one else in town that would do a better job on old Volkswagens and for a fair price too. I've never had to wait more than a day for him to fix any kind of problem that I had with my bug either. He's definitely trustworthy and I will always come back to him. read more
