He found the…read moreperfect spot for us where there was nobody else out, which made the whole experience relaxed and fun right from the start. Both of my girls got up on their boards their very first time surfing. They didn't even want to come in when the lesson was over even though it was pouring down rain. Nick was patient, encouraging, and just a really good time to be around. He made the whole experience easy and memorable for our family and took great care of us the entire session. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great surf lesson, especially with kids. We'd absolutely do it again.

The lesson could not have been better. Aloha brothers provides wetsuits and boards as part of the lesson. The instructor, Taylor, was so kind and patient and made the lesson so fun that neither kid wanted to take a break during the 90-minute session. To put that into perspective, we had to walk three blocks with surfboards, and they required three breaks to make it through that experience. Both boys ended up being able to stand on the board and could not wait for their next lesson. My son struggles to keep doing something if it's difficult, but thanks to Taylor's encouragement, he kept failing and kept getting back up and trying again. Communication with Nick, the owner, was fantastic. The price was great for a two-person private lesson (check the website for the latest pricing).

They had the coffee we were after, along with fashionable branded apparel, drinks for the kids, and SPF 15 lip balm on a sunny day. Our helper, who I assume may have been the owner, was friendly and welcoming to our party. We asked about an unfamiliar coffee, and he was able to tell us about it and a similar drink, and how they related to the drinks we recognized. He quickly and efficiently got our coffee orders back to us, and was knowledgeable about all the items that we asked about and purchased. My favorite part was that instead of completing my cappuccino at the machine, he brought it our where I could see him make a design as the coffee and frothed milk came together. He also made sure my wife could go and change from her sweater to a freshly purchased shirt.

I have a wetsuit but rent a board which is $25 for two hours and $35 per day. By the way, if you rent it after noon, you can come back and continue surfing next morning. Staff is friendly. They can give you wax for your board. I like the videos of surfing you can watch on a big screen. Interior has it's own vibe of welcoming you to the surfing world. There is a room you can change and shower you can take after. When you take a board and go surfing, you can leave your stuff at their place. By the way, they can create your account and send you receipt via email. Very convenient ! One more thing, a parking lot. If you rent a board for the whole day, you cal leave your car for the same period of time. Their water is a little expensive but you can get a cheaper one next door at Bruno's Italian Restaurant.

Booked last minute and they fit my kid in in 8.30 am. Had perfect fitting size 8 O'Neil wetsuit. Good txt comm. Takes Zelle and Venmo. Shea was our instructor and my kid got up on 1st run and got up lots of times during the 90 min lesson. Very patient. Shea also is experienced helping autistic kids. They say youngest age thry can start is a 4 yr old kid who can swim. They'll keep someone that young safe in the shallow waves. Also provided board for my "too young for lesson kid" so he could pretend to partake in sand part of lesson. He had a blast! Sand lesson is quick, most time spent in water learning in real-time so you get your money's worth. Compared to other lessons from others I saw going on on beach at same time... 1) the level of personal attention was top notch 2) the student to teacher ratio was better at Dawn Patrol 3) Better instruction 4) better results! 5) more fun 6) Dawn Patrol has a lot of repeat clients so that tells you something! Other details to be aware 1) meet at their Ford Bronco in the parking lot 2) They got t-shirts if you want souvenir 3) staff is fully vaccinated! In short highly recommend. Support local biz and 2 local brothers vs monolith faceless giant corporation!

But I felt so intimated by my new machine. I ticked it away for years but I saw an email for a Moving Thread beginner 4-week workshop. 3 hours each session. Last night was class 1 of 4. My class was six ladies aged from mid 20s to late 60s. One never sewed. Two hand sewed. And two of us used machines 20 and 30 years ago and one lady had a machine and used it but felt intimidated. So we were all pretty nervous about our fledgling sewing skills. But the class was paced perfectly and by the end of our first class we successfully completed beautiful reversible totes! The workshop is $550 and it's a great value: project 1 tote, project 2 zipper pouch, project 3 pants (two classes). Our instructor was warm, friendly, funny, knowledgeable, helpful. My only drawback are the chairs. They're not comfortable for me and my leg felt like it wanted to go numb. No one else seemed uncomfortable so maybe it's just me. I'll try a seat cushion to see if it'll help. I brought my machine with me so I could learn how to use it but my husband actually bought the same Heavy Duty Singer sewing machine provided in the class for student use. All the equipment, accessories, fabric needed is provided by the class. You only need to show up. No good or drink allowed in classroom but water is okay. Be sure to enter the rear entrance let the instructions in your student information email. Because to show up on time. Basically no make classes. So if you sign up be sure you're schedule is free for the specified time period. If you're thinking of taking a quick afternoon class or a full workshop I highly recommend you give Moving Thread a try. The instructor we had last night has her own fashion label and is highly knowledgeable but gave us very easy instructions that us newbies could follow. The was patient with our foibles and created an atmosphere of grace and fun. I look forward to my to rest of classes Eventually I look forward to trying the advanced class offerings too. I've hit my eye on the alterations class.
