Travis was an absolutely fantastic surf coach. Our group of 4 beginners all stood up on our surfboard multiple times within the first lesson. The location he teaches at is far less crowded than several of the popular surf spots and is much more conducive to learning than some of the other spots we have tried. Travis is a bit more expensive than some of the other surf shops but this is a great example of "you get what you pay for"! His surfing knowledge is exceptional and he is able to easily convey what he knows to beginners. Highly recommend! read more

My friend and I really enjoyed taking a lesson from Travis! He met us early on a weekday morning in Redondo stocked with wetsuits and surfboards (properly fit to our weight / builds). Neither of us had much experience surfing and aren't particularly coordinated so it was really helpful to learn the ropes from someone as patient, friendly, and knowledgeable as Travis. Travis took my girlfriend and myself out for a beginner's lesson a few months ago, and I didn't know what to expect, given it was my first time surfing or taking a surfing lesson. Plus, this was for my gf's birthday, so I wanted the experience to be perfect. Travis delivered on that in every way. He had wetsuits and boards waiting for us, and we got to know his warm, friendly spirit on the short walk from his house to the beautiful nearby beach. After a couple minutes of instruction, we were out on the water, Travis expertly calling out when to go for a wave or when it wasn't quite right and should be passed for the next one. After each attempt, he let us know where we went wrong, and what to adjust for the next go around. Overall, I felt like I got a highly concentrated lesson from a expert. At no point did I feel like any time was wasted, and the experience felt safe and fun while also feeling productive. By the end of the lesson, we were completely spent, lying down smiling and laughing, feeling a cool breeze under the late morning sun. read more
