Great place to visit and walk the trails for only $5. Very well maintained sanctuary with clear signage and a clear trail/path. Staff mentioned that they will be adding more animals to the exhibit. There is a nice variety of animals and birds. It takes less than an hour to walk around and see all the exhibits. Tourist BEWARE......... Noah's Ark is temporarily closed. They do have private tours and special events when booked in advance. When open for public tours Noah's Ark is a great place to take your family. The grounds and sanctuary are beautiful. There are a lot of grassy areas and colorful blooms. They have picnic areas if you want to bring your lunch. Peacocks roam the grounds freely and will sometimes pose for pictures. The animals at Noah's Ark are rescues and are unable to survive in the wild. Some of the animals were rescued during drug raids, some were surrendered from struggling zoos, and others come from research labs. You should definitely check this hidden gem out when they are open to the public. Admission is free but donations are welcomed. read more

I've been coming to Noah's ark since 2020 and admitingly I didn't think much of it. But the more I came the more I feel in love with the place even leading me to do my eagle project there. Over that time I've seen Noah's Ark go through great change, new leadership, new staff and a new outlook on animal care. Recently they've gotten new animals like foxes and jackels (which I have to say the foxes are the cutest things I've ever seen) and with new exhibits being build I'm so excited to see whats next for Noah's Ark. My family and I first time at Noah's Ark. Nice spacious parking lot. Beautiful peacocks walking around the parking lot. It appeared to be mating season for these beautiful creatures. Not a big fan of the picnic tables being right in front of the parking lot. We didn't get to see all the animals this time. The kids wanted to play in the playground more than see animals. We're hoping next time we get to see more animals. Oh Beware, there's animal feces all over the playground area. The service was good in the gift shop. I'll definitely update the review when I get to have the full experience. Overall, so far, It was fun and all that matters is that the kids enjoyed their time there. I remember being a little girl and the original family had a few animals on a piece of land. As I grew up the sanctuary grew. It was once amazing, beautiful, lots of animals, they took care of the land and it was a fun place to go. Today is a different story. The grounds look run down almost all of the animals are gone (a quick google search will give insight on that). They also want you to pay for admission. Every animal that we seen, we were given a chance to know about them, the story and how they treat them with love and true care, and honestly the only place I have ever been to where I don't feel bad for them in the areas they are in! -Would suggest to you, where waking shoes as you will be walking up hills and on dirt so don't wear your best shoes, but this is one of the best places you can go to I promise you won't regret it! My daughter and I along with another friend with two young ones ventured out here on a hot summer day to see the park. It was surprisingly big with an incredible amount of animals. You actually need several hours to visit this whole place and it's only open from 12-3. You will see more big-game animals than you do at the Atlanta zoo as well as some capuchins and other species that you won't find there either. One highlight for us was seeing a lion and tiger playing together (never even seen those two in the same place) but I heard they use to also have a bear with them since they all grew up together that way. I also love that peacocks are just strolling around the premise as soon as you arrive. The ostriches right next the parked cars are also intimidating! It's pretty cool that this place works on donations only considering the incredible cost it is to maintain a sanctuary like this. One of my only complaints was the lack of bathrooms in the sanctuary as this can be a big challenge for little ones (even just 1-2 porta potties in certain places would work). It would also be nice if you could get a little closer to the tamer farm animals like the goats, cows, pigs, and sheep so you could interact a little when appropriate. It was pretty crowded the day we came as kids had just gotten out of school for the summer so many groups were on field trips. As the sanctuary is so large this didn't matter too much except at the picnic tables for eating lunch. Staff was friendly and helpful and as others have noted, I got the impression that the animals are well cared for here. Note: They do not have any food on premise here so you do need to prepare in advance to bring your own (I wish they could have picked up the phone in advance when I called to tell me that). read more

We choose this place for a field trip. My one complaint is the restroom situation. It took an hour to get 42, 4 year olds to use one portapotty that had to be wipped down. The others were beyond disgusting. With that being said, the animals were friendly, most if not all the animals hung out right by the fences. I was afraid my kids would scare them away but they didnt seem to mind. The place was pretty clean as far as the animals go. Didnt have that strong animal smell like the zoo. We didnt get to view the whole place because the time wasted in the bathroom and it is alot of walking for young children. Now would I recommend this place as a field trip for young children, maybe not. But would I go back with my family absolutely. If anyone who works there reads this Please fix your bathroom! ***TOUR REVIEW Let me start off by saying I believe in this place and the rehabilitation work they do for not only abused exotic animals, but regular household pets as well. It is a deep love & kindness that is beyond measure to care for dangerous animals that have been mistreated and thrown away because they were cute as babies but grew into the wild animals they were meant to be. Take their main attraction for example, where a lion, a tiger and a bear live together in the same habitat. They were all found as cubs in the home of an Atlanta drug dealer and brought to the sanctuary where they were never separated. They go by the name B.L.T. There is Baloo (the North American black bear), Leo (the lion) and Shere Khan (the Bengal tiger). They were each only a few months old and severely malnourished and frightened when found caged in a basement. Blows my mind the horrid merciless acts some humans think are acceptable!!! We arrived with high hopes of seeing many of the wonderful animal who live here, but particularly BLT. After all, according to Noah's Ark they are THEE ONLY lion, tiger and bear living in the same enclosure anywhere in the world. Kind of incredible when you consider they are each from a different continent by nature and would never ever meet in the wild. It's also funny to consider they would likely have different languages and culinary desires coming from different regions of the world, yet they get along despite their differences. A remarkable statement to humans. THE SCENE We were very fortunate to be the only ones on tour today. It was a rainy Saturday and even though the website states you must reserve your tour 48 hours in advance, we booked our tour just 2 hours prior to arriving. SCORE! We pulled into the parking lot to be greeted by a sign that warns of the free ranging peacocks that might possible cause damage to your vehicle. O_o Our tour guide began our tour with an introduction to the resident python snakes in the main house. We were briefed on the do's and don'ts of the tour and afterwards set of on what is described on the website as: "An exclusive behind the scenes tour you will never forget. You will meet key animals, learn their personal stories and leave knowing more about their natural environment and how to protect their species. Tours available Tuesday through Saturday, by reservation only (at least 48 hours in advance please). For just $75 per person, you can have a day to remember. This is a walking tour and you must be in physical shape to walk approximately 3 miles. This tour lasts approximately one and a half hours." THE TOUR ($75 per person) It was about a quarter mile walk toward the animal enclosures and here is where it all goes south. One of my major disappointments was the fact they made no mention when booking our tour that Baloo the bear of BLT was in a state of hibernation until we reached the enclosure. I knew it was a possibility he and the other animals "may" not come out to play, but in this case it was a certainty. They said over the phone it was feeding day, which might make the chances of close contact higher, but we never saw any feedings during our visit. Although our tour guide was very sweet, she focused so heavily on the dangerous nature of the animals and the stupidity of owning/handling wildlife (not only as personal pets but even @ zoos and reserves) that she made us question why we even came. I'm purposely skipping lots of details, but honestly, after a while we didn't want to be on tour anymore. She talked about the conditions most of the animals were found in and the physical and mental problems associated with their abuse, which was GREAT info. But I felt the tour focused too much on too many negatives and it was a bit overwhelming. I can tell you that one of the guys fixing an enclosure overheard her talking about Little Ann the bear and made a comment to the bear "you're not bad, you're a sweet girl." She was young and I'm sure she didn't realize how much some of her added personal opinions affected us. So much that once the tour was done, my son just wanted to leave. He didn't want to see any of the animals we missed on the tour like the bison, the lemurs or anything else (other than the alligators), he just wanted to go. FINAL THOUGHTS Come for the animals & be sure to donate, but I would not recommend the tour. It's not worth $75 per person IF you are expecting a more enhanced up close encounter. You literally are only 5 or 6 feet closer than if you hadn't purchased the tour at all and there is absolutely no chance of touching any of the animals. Sure they give you some background on the animal's personal stories, but you can also find some of that same information on their website. Besides, the tour only covers the big cats, wolves, bears and capuchins. Honestly, the only thing I will remember about the tour is the price... and maybe those beautiful tigers. 5 star sanctuary, 1 star tour. read more

Being a California zoo keeper myself, I was very interested to visit this little place with my family when we moved to the general area. I was VERY pleased to see how well the enclosures were done, the size of said enclosures, the cleanliness and the enrichment they had available to the animals. It was hot day when we visited! But the animals all had tons of shade and enclosures to get out of the elements. I saw some volunteers walking around they were very polite and seemed to really care about and go above/beyond for these animals. They had a snow cone stand, that also had hot dogs and drinks available. They had a great large play set and swings off to the side for the kids. It broke my heart that most of the primates were from medical testing retirement and the absolute sheer amount of macaws they had (we own a blue and gold ourselves)! But they were in the best situation for them possible now! Great place and I highly recommend a visit! We will be back! I am shocked this place runs off donations only. A place like that requires a lot of labor and upkeep! Please give generously if you can!!! read more

This is a wonderful place for displaced and unwanted animals of all kinds, with a loving crew who works hard to ensure they are healthy and happy. I took the WOW tour which gave me access to areas not available to the general public. We were accompanied by a volunteer who gave us background on each of the animals we visited and she made sure we remained a safe distance from the fencing. We could pet domestic animals like cows and goats through a wood fence, but there was no contact between us and lions, bears, etc. The workers have set rules in place to protect us and the animals. If you are going to look at the animals and support their cause then go. If you are going just to take photos of some of the larger cats it's not a good setup because of multiple fencing between you and them. REQUEST: I witnessed several families with children enjoying the walk through the property and was shocked that they allowed the children (some young but mostly teens) to taunt the animals, yell, beat on fence, and generally scare the heck out of the animals. Many of these rescued animals came from horrible abuse by their previous owners. Noah's Ark has lovingly worked to help them adjust and get back to as 'normal' as they can be. Please keep this in mind when you visit and treat the animals and volunteers with care. Parking is free. There are lots of public areas that are free, including a playground and a nice picnic area. They have a beautiful welcome center but for some reason none of the inside restrooms were open; there were several porta-potties outside on the property. read more

Sometimes, the best entertainment is the entertainment that you make for yourself. Mainly to amuse myself, I made several "troll" comments while observing the wildlife at Noah's Ark. Speaking with the confidence of a misinformed naturalist, I was the source of ridiculous commentary such as: "You can tell that the cow is clean because of all the flies around it." "The tiger is being fed a piñata full of food, to simulate what it's used to in nature." "From behind, the resting bear looks like a hairy rock, which is a strategy it uses to lure its prey." You should've seen the looks on some of the children's faces. :) To their credit, some of the youngsters present at Noah's Ark that day were surprisingly knowledgeable about animals. Notwithstanding, the menagerie does house a few exotic species that exposed our ignorance to the world around us. For example, I saw a particularly outstanding creature with its head held high amongst the rabbits, to which I responded, "Wow. Is that a wallaby?" I was convinced that it was and told my friends to "look at the wallaby," but a young teenager insisted that said animal was a capybara. We later saw a sign on the other side of the enclosure, which stultified us both with the description, "Patagonian Cavy." You can cast judgment regarding whom had the better guess. Noah's Ark is not a zoo; it's a sanctuary for abandoned/abused wildlife (and foster children). It is a non-profit organization with free admission, though it relies upon donations to feed and care for its furry occupants. Its claim to fame is the trio known as "BLT," the bear, lion, and tiger that were rescued together and have lived together for the entirety of their lives. According to Noah's Ark, "BLT are the only bear, lion, and tiger in the world that live in the same enclosure." This motley crew was seized from the basement of a drug dealer's home when all three were only months old and in miserable condition. Though Noah's Ark does not feature the diversity nor abundance of wildlife that one can find at a zoo, there's still plenty to see/do while there. There are picnic tables near the entrance, with free roaming peacocks approaching guests with an air of expectancy. There are a couple of open fields of grass wherein some friends and I threw a frisbee back and forth; I suggest bringing a frisbee and/or football to toss around. Currently, Noah's Ark is home to at least one of each of these animals: chicken, duck, parrot, peacock, emu, ostrich, goat, mule, cow, pig, rabbit, tortoise, various monkey/baboon species, fox, wolf, tiger, lion, bear, et al. I didn't see any dogs nor dog food, but that's the odor that I smelled while at Noah's Ark, which is much better than the rich scent of manure that's commonly characteristic of animal exhibits. Speaking of such, I spotted two Porta Potties, one in the parking area and one in the picnic area, and there was never a line for either. Even more astounding, Noah's Ark is the first place that I've been to in over two years that actually had Porta Potties with full containers of hand sanitizer! I have a real soft spot for animals, THE INSIDE OF MY STOMACH! Hee haw! Hee haw! Seriously though, despite not having any pets and my daily interaction with animals usually being limited to sighing at the sight of bird droppings on my car, I harbor a deep fascination of and feel a primal connection to animals. Noah's Ark is waaaaay outside the perimeter, but I definitely recommend it for a leisurely afternoon to entertain your children. Be aware that the operating hours are constrained to noon - 3:00 PM Tuesday through Saturday (I suppose that animals need privacy too). So pack a lunch, bring your children, have a frisbee and/or football ready, take some pictures, wear your walking shoes, listen to the staff's explanations during feeding time, donate to support animals in need, consider volunteering if you live nearby, and have a great time. read more

Now that we're a (vegan) family we've been trying to come up with activities for the wee toddler that she will enjoy and maybe learn about animals in a non-zoo/aquarium setting. This place hit the spot. It's in the middle of nowhere but worth the drive. There's no fee, but they accept donations so please bring some cash, they can't take donations in any other way from what I could tell. There are tons of animals here- foxes, monkeys, rabbits, ostriches, and even that crazy trio you may have seen clickbait about- the lion, tiger, and bear that are best friends. They were living in a drug dealer's apartment and when it was raided they didn't want to split them up, so they now live in an enclosed area together. There is a picnic area, playground, restrooms, and gift shop on location, amongst other things. I will say this- I would have enjoyed this place more in the early spring or fall. In the summer it is HOT. There is some shade, but not much. I definitely want to come back in the fall. read more

A foster home for children and animals, noah's ark is great for taking the family out to see lions, tigers and bears ... and monkeys too. They are currently working on building an adoption center for cats and dogs and currently has a network board for matching pets with new owners. While some of the animals are in cages, the all have plenty of room to move and play. Many of the pigs are free ranging around the compound and pick random places to wallow in the mud and sleep. There is a nice sized picnic area for eating if you packed a lunch. The is a soda machine inside the main building but the snack machine is broken. My wife and I have lived near Noah's Arc for 7 years and never went there until a couple days ago when our 4 yr old granddaughter was staying with us. We were extremely impressed with the total operation of the Arc, and our grand daughter got to see animals she only had seen in pictures. There are several paths through the park like many acre facility with places to stop and sit on benches to watch the species. Also, there are spots for a picnic and a snack bar trailer that must operate on high attendance days. Our grand child was also impressed with the playground , that had the largest slide setup I have ever seen. The operation depends totally on donations, which are totally voluntary. There is no admission fee to walk the place, but I believe everyone would, and should make a donation. Many of the more exotic animals came from zoos or circuses that went out of business. They found a good "retirement" home at the Arc. I rate this an "A" experience. read more

My mentoring group went here last spring. We had a great time. We brought food for a picnic and then headed off to visit all of the animals. Had been meaning to bring the kiddos here for awhile and glad I finally made it. We arrived at noon and right away saw the lot full of daycare busses...so we knew this would be a crowded walk. However, we managed to linger behind a group and between another and enjoyed the park quite well. We felt these animals looked much better taken cared of then at a zoo. The habitats were well kept and larger than expected for each animal. Great way to get our steps in and enjoy a beautiful place. This place runs on donations and offers visitors a chance to donate throughout visit. A good idea would be to pack a lunch and picnic here as well. This is a delightful place to visit with your children. It is a donation only cost for admittance and on a fall or spring day, it is a wonderful stroll. This is a no frills place, but the animals are treated well and cared for with love. Gravel parking lots with some picnic areas add to its down home welcoming feel. Yes!! Put Noah's Ark on your "Must See" list = 100% worth your time. This place is so impressive. My husband and I went for the first time two weeks ago and there is no doubt that we will go again. We had know idea what to expect: Arrived at 11:45am: checked in with the very helpful and friendly staff, noticed it's a perfect place to bring along a picnic with you ,made a donation (It's free =no cost to visit. Surviving only on donations + volunteer's) , gate to the animals opened promptly at 12noon, we choose to walk through on our own (you can call and schedule a up close guided tour), and WOW! we were impressive from beginning to end. The grounds are beautiful, the animal enclosures are set up to each animals wants + needs, every single enclosure was clean + roomy + well taken care of, they house a HUGE variety of animals which you are able to see easily + safely. Came here with a group of friends celebrating my roommate's birthday on a Saturday afternoon. The place was not crowded, and although it took us a minute to find parking, it wasn't difficult at all. The place was very family friendly because all the animals were fenced in very well. The animals that were more aggressive had two layers of fences, so there were no danger for the visitors at all. We saw many different animals, and I love that they all had names and where they came from on the signs on the fence. It was a very nice walk to see all the animals. I appreciate what they are doing here, taking care of animals that have nowhere else to go. I would recommend anyone to come here who loves animals and enjoys a nice walk! read more
