And it's still pretty much the same (mostly in a good way). After it was fully booked on the weekend we came back on a weekday....plenty of tables left. We had some warm Crostini for a starter with two glasses of Spritz (Prosecco with Aperol). A really good choice. Crostini topped with fatty Pancetta, meat, paprika-spread, tomato, artichokes and radicchio. Good to share for two. For the mains we had the Seafood Spaghetti and Pasta with crema di Porcini. The Seafood Pasta is still great. The Pasta with Crema was new to us....interesting combination and very filling. We had some house wine with that (half liter for 4 Euros!). The service was - and this hasn't changed - a bit basic. But the reason could also be that the service doesn't speak much english - and our skills in italian are not really good too. But that's fine....we got what we wanted. And dogs are welcome too! It's a really good restaurant. Our #2 in town (behind "Xke Qua"). Be sure not to miss it, since it's a bit on the northern end of town, but beside a huge parking lot. Surely would go back. Prices are fair too.

The food is magnficient. The menu consists of a "al terre" and "al mare" part. Although Toscany is normally not known for their seafood dishes chief Danny offers expectional and really inspiring dishes around fish and sea food. The "terre" part is very nice too. It is based on traditional toscan dishes which are just a bit refined to make it a really memorable experience. What is also noteable is that the order is taken by the executive chief himself (Danny) and he loves to explain every dish in great detail. They also hold one michelin star (2010).

Granita is dairy free, and similar to sorbet, but with a coarser texture. At La Granita, you can get a generous bowl for €2.50 (I couldn't manage to finish it); whipped cream is an additional €0.50. The almond flavor was delicious; the texture was a bit weird (ground almonds), but really tasty. The watermelon and peach were both really fruity and refreshing. They also offer gelato, and the option of getting your granita or gelato on brioche, but I was quite a happy camper with my granita and whipped cream.

The music was so loud and out of place we couldn't hear eachother or the ocean which is why we chose this restaurant. The tortellini was creamy and the tartare was well seasoned. The fish was not properly deboned. Service was minimal, we asked for 2 plates to share tartare and were only brought one. We wanted to take our wine as take away which is not unusual in italy and they didn't have cups.

I had the pasta with planchette and cherry tomatoes while my wife had Grilled octopus with reduction and cherry tomatoes. Her comment was" Wow! This dish is so good I want to come back just so can order it again." Desert was an imaginative cold soup( my guess was liquified kiwi ) with pepper infused dark chocolate. Yum!
