We are only 2 weeks into the training which last for 15 sessions but are excited to register our 2nd dog as soon as our Jaxon wraps up his training. Their fees are more expensive than other dog training classes but it's 100% worth it as it's training that will serve our dog and our family for a lifetime! Bella is a very sweet and loving dog but she barked aggressively when anyone came near our door, let alone knock/ring bell. Any change made her nervous and jumpy. A visit to the vet would cause anxious behavior for a week after each appointment. Other dogs made her nervous even though we had socialized her from a very young age. When walking she would stiffen whenever another dog or children were near by us. We have always exercised Bella a lot and that helped but never eliminated these issues. Then I read about the Fort Collins Dog Wizard online. I was just hoping to improve her quality of life a little... I never imagine or dreamed of the results we would get. Cullen did a house visit to assess Bella. He sat at our house talking calmly to me about Bella and her personality the entire time he ignored Bella. After the first ten minutes, she was begging for his attention but he still let her have her space. I couldn't believe the calming presence he brought and he hit all her scary buttons (a man with a hat). After talking to me, he said he thought they could absolutely help her. We sent her to them for three weeks and she worked primarily with Maddy. We visited Bella a week into the training, we got our first training session, and we were already amazed. When we picked her up at the end of the three weeks, we received more training and very clear and strict instructions on how to continue the work. Maddy visited us at our home in the coming weeks to assess Bella and help answer any questions we had on techniques or progress. Once you've been through the program there are graduate classes that you and your dog can attend for free every Saturday as well as a Facebook group for graduates to share/ask questions and you can always contact Cullen, Jess, or Maddy. Six months ago we had a dog that freaked out if a car door closed outside our house, UPS truck drove by, or anyone came to our house. Last week on Halloween our doorbell rang and door was knocked on all night and not one peep from Bella. She sat quietly on her place and enjoyed her evening. We have dinner parties with lots of loud laughing and moving about and she calmly lays on her bed until we let her come off and then she enjoys the attention from our friends. Her quality of life is so much better and now everyone can see her sweet and loving personality instead of a barking, scared dog. My only regret was not finding the Dog Wizard sooner. When we adopt our next dog, they will be the first phone call I make after adoption.

We tried calling at one point and no one would answer. They also charged us so much money to put our dog's daily pill into her food (it takes 5 seconds to do and you don't even have to hide it). They didn't have anything to say about my dog's stay when we picked her up. We don't know if she ate or behaved and when we tried to ask the employee just kind of left. I would not recommend this business for boarding your pets.

We went on to work successfully with behaviorists in December for reactivity. How disgusting to set a working level at a 17 on a 6 mo old puppy. The use of the prong and e-collar in this institution is appalling. I'm not against these tools, but the people handling them are not worth your money nor your dogs well-being.

Kiki had massive rear leg injuries after losing a fight with a pickup truck. My husband and I rushed her to CSU -Vet hospital and at the appropriate time the incredible staff there (amazing place - kudus for another story) led us to Connie for the remainder of Kiki's initial recovery. Our dog had to spend over 2 months in care; most of which was spent with Connie in her home/facility. Our dog, like many of them at the Resort, required high level medical care and attention. Connie saw that she received that care from whatever source needed. I don't know how Connie does it but somehow all of her charges receive exactly what they need - medical and/or therapy attention - and equally important - love and hugs, and the ability to be a dog despite the problems and handicaps. When it was finally time for our girl to come home Kiki was on her way to healing and her spirit for living was stronger than ever. She thrived for another six years (during which Kiki had periodic visits with Connie and "friends") until a natural passing due to age. We visited CHR during the time Kiki was there and now, even without her, we visit our friend just to witness and marvel at what Connie brings to the lives of these precious patients. To watch Connie run a large number of her charges for their daily outings with no leashes, and yet have total control with only verbal commands, is astonishing. The dogs are joyous. These walks must be incredibly freeing to the dogs as they seem to momentarily escape from being aware of their physical challenges. My husband and I are forever indebted to what Connie did for our beloved Kiki. CHR homeplace is lovely, clean, cozy and spacious but not pretentious or fancy - what dog cares about that? What it provides is what I think most dogs care about - being safe and secure, feeling better, being stimulated and having fun, getting to stretch their legs and feel the sunshine - and feeling treasured while missing their families.
