I spend my days drinking several mugs of hot black tea, and I've grown accustomed to having tea stains. My past dentists would always make a big fuss about it and try to convince me to just drink hot water or try some other solution. Other times I would walk away with only a 50% reduction in the amount of stains. This time the hygienist said it was "no big deal ", and she removed every single stain in what seems to be the same time I usually spend in the chair. I asked him for more work and he could have easily said yes (and did it like my previous dentists did) but he suggested I don't do as the cosmetic work I inquired about would ultimately be harmful and require more costly repairs/upkeep down the road. He said my teeth are healthy and fine so why mess that up! I've been to dentists that jumped at doing these types of cosmetic procedures (usually their suggestion) since they break down over time but never did they mention that it damages your teeth in the process.
