Free parking! Wow! It's a quick walk to the beach. I wore flip flops and took them off to enjoy the water. There's a lot of small shells so the water is not for the weak of feet. There seems to be a strong undercurrent so the first two feet are safe and then it drops down where the waves hit and you can easily be belly or chest deep. It looks hard to get out if you get that far in. Many beachgoers were tanning or lounging under tents and sunshades. Some were drinking. There's a small rock formation I walked to where people were fishing. There is some fishing along the beach as well so be careful as you walk. The shells are mostly small fragments. There are some larger ones. Nothing worth keeping today. The showers on the way out to the parking lot helped me clean my flip flops. Looks like public bathrooms too near the lot. Nice place to walk and people watch. read more

Really enjoyed this beach. They have a good parking lot, and a small street to cross to the beach. They have restrooms and showers, and a ramp for your beach park wagon. there are stairs as well to the restrooms and to get you towards the beach. This beach was so chill and the water was aqua. If you are looking for shells, this beach has them. Sometimes I don't like how rough it could be if there are tons washed up ashore, it can be hard to walk, but this time, that wasn't the case. We have been to many beaches in Florida, but I can't believe we haven't been here, or maybe we have years ago just once. I can see us coming back here again. I did also hear the drum circle in the background but I was just to relaxed to go check it out. read more

This was a very lovely beach but I kid you NOT the beach is very light on the sand which it is white but 95% crushed up Seashells! There are Seashells to gather up! Still love Nokomis beach! It's clean, wide and the sand is nice to walk on. The water was clear and the perfect temperature today. We also found quite a few shark's teeth for our grandchildren. I love my beach - it's beautiful! Very nice and comfortable. Love the gopher tortoises and all the turtles nests. However, America still has some truly illiterate people who still bring their dogs despite the signs saying no dogs. As a dog lover, when I want to take our Lab to the beach, somehow I know that only 15 minutes away there's a nice doggy beach in Venice. Hmmm... how is it that I know that? Maybe because I went to a good school and I can read!!! These people must've gone to some really bad public schools. read more

Beautiful beach with gorgeous sunsets. There were mostly locals when I went here, which I like even though I was technically a tourist visiting from Tampa. There's plenty of free parking, showers to rinse off, and clean bathrooms. Why didn't I rate the beach 5 stars? I like soft sand. The sand had close to soft sand in some areas and a lot of broken shell areas that hurt to walk in barefoot. It could just be me though... people were walking on the broken shells like it was nothing. read more

Great beach for swimming or just hanging out. They've got a decent size parking lot with restrooms. The beach is pretty clean and safe. The water was clear and surprisingly warm. It's a great place for people who like collecting shells because this beach has some great ones. One of my most favorite beaches to come to on my morning Shell hunts when I'm in the area A well known tourist attraction for this specific hobby, it is still big enough to where you don't feel like you're in an immense crowd in a touristy area, there is still some space to enjoy a sunset or sunrise. A very nice deep beach with an attached free parking lot. There's lifeguards here, along with rest/change rooms, body showers, and concessions. I didn't see any seaweed in March, but the water temp was far too cold for me to swim in, 69°. Lots of shells in the sand. Great for collecting, but hard on your feet when walking. read more

The allure of this beach is most certainly how quiet it is- it not not near as popular or well-known as some other nearby beaches. It's a lovely hidden secret! There are also tons of shells to be found, though unfortunately when I went it was an extra windy day and the waves were so high and aggressive there was no shell discovery unless you were willing to get nailed and occasionally carried away on the water... But nonetheless this made for perfect boogie boarding and body surfing waters! Also, there seemed to be quite a lot of parking if you're willing to drive a little further down, and there are rinse stations and bathrooms so you are covered there which is always nice. If I remember right there was even a small concession stand! So yeah if I am ever in the mood to swim a bunch and boogie board, this beach will certainly be one of the first on my list to come back to! read more

North Jetty parking is at 25%. No activity to make repairs to Jetty parking lot. Drawbridge parking is now closed for at least 2 years. Being used as staging for material to repair the North Casey Key road in Osprey. Nokomis beach is awesome! Parking is a big problem for the elderly and on weekends. read more

Nokomis public beach is more convenient to get to compared to Holmes beach (our go to beach) and Siesta Key (fam fav). It's 35 miles from our house in East Bradenton but quicker to drive to via the 75 (38 min without traffic). Holmes beach is 20 miles but takes 50 min via route 64. You'll find more family and locals enjoying this beach. I heard it's real busy on Saturdays when the drummers are playing. Parking lot had tons of free space on a late Friday afternoon. Boardwalk separates the parking lot and beach. The ramp is on the north side next to the building if you're dragging a beach wagon. There's also a beach access without stairs next to the toilets. Sand has more shells and is not as pleasant to walk on as SK. Water was warm and quite rough from the wind. Kids had a lot of fun boogie boarding. Only saw one shower post with 2 faucets so there's always a line. Will check out the cafe and the south side of the beach non our next visit. read more

Nearly got kidnapped one night. Was in NokomisBeach and enjoyed for a long time and was spending the night "Van living" near the beach and three people in ski masks attempted to hijack me I was forced to leave town after I got away and ended up leaving the state of Florida to live with relatives instead. Was truly a traumatic situation. Police were notified that night not sure if the people ever got caught or not read more

This is a nice, peaceful beach located just north of Venice, Florida. I came to this beach here over the summer to check it out as part of our Florida staycation. We loved it! I'm not sure how it is for most of the year, but the time we went had sparse crowds. We were able to collect a decent amount of shells here too. This five star beauty of a beach needs extra patrol because when we were there a man was yelling at the top of his lungs to someone on his cellphone screaming threats with profanities near the concession stand. There were about 5 groups of families and we all looked at each other. Some were very nervous. This lunatic had not a care in the world that other people were around, especially children. The water is pretty and the beach isn't very crowded. However the water is very dirty with a whole line of seaweed, which is one reason nobody was seen in the water. However, if you are there for finding shells and shark teeth this is the place to go. Another good place for shark teeth is Venice beach. read more

Great beach. Lots of space. Family oriented. There are drum circles on Friday and Wednesday nights. Basically, lost hippies from the 60's and resurgence of them in the 90's in a mash up of drumming, dancing and hula hooping. Draws a huge crowd!! Very pleasant to listen to while having a beer and watching the sunset. I'll be doing this again on my next visit. We also visited the following day to sit and relax. Tons of space on this beach. This beach was beautiful! We didn't go during the day, but instead came after dinner and hung out for a couple hours to watch the sunset. It was gorgeous. There were quite a few people camped out to watch the sunset as well, but there was plenty of room. The beach is long enough to have a nice walk, and the sand is not to chunky with shells. There were sailboats passing, and even saw at least for dolphins! It was picturesque. I would like to come back during the day to enjoy! There are drum circles on Saturday nights, so be prepared that it will be noisy and crowded and potentially smell like weed. It looked like a lot of fun though! read more

This has been our go to beach for this year's vacation. We have found the crowds sparse, the surf inviting, and the access simple. The beach itself is quite beautiful. Red tide has been an issue some days, but you can't fault the beach for that. I wish the concession area (bar mostly, the daiquiris are pretty tasty) was open later but no worries, we haven't stayed much more than a couple of hours anyway. read more

I like this beach because it's very low key. It attracts older, and family types too. The sands are laden with rough shell fragments, course, and isn't the pristine fine white like Siesta. Bathrooms are decent, and there's no amenities or food stations. I was bitten by an ugly jellyfish too, but who hasn't. The water is murkier than Siesta too, and it dips down about 6 feet really quick. Still like coming here though. read more
