We love stopping in Venice Beach for some shark teeth hunting and a beautiful sunset. We usually walk up the pier first but this time it was pretty busy all the way down to the end. Afterwards we head to the shop to get a shark tooth shovel it's $10 to rent it. This day is was busy on the beach so we walked down a little till we found a good spot. We ended up finding about 15 teeth that day. They have two areas for showers one close to the pier and another one by the bathrooms. Closer to the parking lot.

Nice pier with a little gift shop halfway down. It's a fun walk after dining at Sharkey's or Fin's. Lots of people were fishing and there were birds all over the place.

Great for shelling but hard walking under pier in sand, if impaired. Take the pier for sightseeing!

One of the nice things about fishing in Florida is that you don't need to have a boat to catch some of the most popular gamefish in the world. Venice Fishing Pier is a 720-foot no fee fishing pier with 24/7 access and requires no fishing license for the amateur fisherman. The fishing is outstanding off the pier for snook and snapper which are both in abundant supply and between sunset and sunrise the shark move in. The pier is connected to Sharky's on the Pier, the only beach front restaurant in the Venice area, the pier offers Papa's bait shop, with live & frozen bait, coffee, treats, jackets, shirts, and more. The pier is a great place to just hang out or catch a sunset. The Pier was originally built in 1966 it was destroyed in 1981 by the "No Name Storm" it was rebuilt in 1984 then in 2004, the pier was totally removed and a new $1.75 million dollars was built, the decking is now made of plastic wood fiber composite, and is built to withstand a category 4 hurricane, and has a projected life span of at least 50 years so there's still plenty of time to experience a piece of old Florida.

Amazing Captain. Nice boat easy to fish out of. He knows…read morewhere to find the fish. On a super windy day we limited out on Red fish while others only caught a few. That's the difference with fishing with Captain Jayce. He took us out the next day to Red Snapper fish and caught our limit in 30 minutes, then headed inshore and caught our limit of Trout.

Captain Korye is amazing! I booked 3 days back to back. We…read morehad a daunting task. Catch a goliath grouper in the slot as I had drawn a tag thru the florida fish and wildlife. He lost his sonar the evening before. So we had to find a fish with his knowledge alone. I didnt sleep well that night. I saw us at noon on my last day here with no fish and no way to find one. Well captain knows his stuff. We left the dock at 720 or so the first morning. He drives his boat out about an hour or so hands me a pole with a jig and said cast it out and let sink and we will see if we can catch a permit while I get set up for goliath. I cast out the 3rd cast and he says WE HAVE ONE COME HERE!!!! I reel in a 35 inch goliath grouper. 5 minutes into a 3 day trip and months of anxiety and anguish gone. Tagged out. Thanks for coming! We continued fishing for the next 2.99 days to catch red grouper and snapper without anything but a GPS map. No idea what's under the boat! No clue if we are on it or just close. But we caught fish. No depth finder, no fish finder, no idea of what kind on fish were under us. We definitely had to work for our fish. We even drifted on the calmest day and caught a good sized red grouper. I know he could have done better with all the gear he is used to having at his disposal, but he still managed to catch plenty of fish every day. We threw back at least as many fish back as we kept. Sometimes we got over blue runners and couldnt get any bait past them down to the snapper and grouper. Sometimes we would catch nothing but undersized fish. So on to the next spot. He drove that boat 2 hrs out 2.5 hrs out moved 6 or 7 moves anything he could to get a fish in the boat. Even without sonar! I was in awe. I fish a lot. I know my fishing holes back home in southern Indiana like the back of my hand. I don't need sonar on them. I can't catch squat without it on anything I fish only a couple times a year. And we are talking lakes. Small lakes. Captain covered miles and miles of ocean even after tagging the fish i came for in 5 minutes. He know fishing and fish. It was a tough bite. I went with him to get bait a couple mornings and we talked with other captains. Everybody was working hard for their fish. They were spread out and hard to find for a captain with sonar. I dont know how he did it. If you want to have a good time and catch fish, go with captain Korye. You will always be part of one of my trophy stories for the rest of my life! Thank you Brad
