Total incompetence when repairing drivers window not functioning they spent three hours with there…read morecomputer trying to diagnose a 2002 window problem put the car on the lift could not figure out why they were looking for other problems that did not exist told me the front end neaded work. Nobody asked them to check my front end I had just had my entire front suspension rebuild in the end they had no idea what was wrong with my drivers window but when I left passenger window also stoped working from screwing around for hours trying to trouble shoot a 25 yr old car window problem bottom with a computer instead of taking door card apart they wasted 3 hr embellishment of a unnecessary repair and taking out drivers window computer that also operates passenger side with the scan tool. I personally replaced drivers side ecu and trouble shot the drivers window tap drivers window motor with a screw driver motor stated to work ecu brought back to life passenger window problem solved totally incompetent to do anything but change parts of diagnosing the simplest problems without ther scan tool They are part changers not mechanics beware when bringing your car there for service ps I do not and never had repaired cars in my life this was the most basic problem compounded by incompetence

Very nice people! But unreliable if you need a real fix…read more I went to get my car fixed because it wouldn't start and I needed to go on a long trip with my family in the car. I told the mechanics the same. I asked them to check out why my car wouldn't start, fix my AC and a fix the break noise. They took care of the AC and break noise the first time just fine. Didn't check the other issue about the car not starting that I mentioned but left my terminal slightly disconnected from my battery. The second time, I came back explaining I was about to leave for the trip. I HAD to come back because the terminal they left unconnected started smoking. They took no responsibility and made me pay for the new terminal and the labour. They told me this would fix the car not starting as well. I took it home, it would not start the next day. The THIRD time. I take it in and let them know it's most likely the alternator or the starter. Explaining the battery is essentially new. They call me back and tell me that it's the battery.... I pick up my vehicle and change the battery myself. The vehicle still has the starting issue... This means they are not trustworthy. THREE opportunities to do a proper inspection. Knowing they would be risking me and my family in a long trip. They lied about properly inspecting my vehicle, lied when they told me the terminal fix would be ok for me to risk a long trip which could have stranded me and my family. They took no responsibility and were willing to let me pay for their mistakes and lack of professional diligence. Ps. On top of this they prioritized a car show over customers and when I showed up to an appointment to fix the terminal they left off that started smoking, that was SCHEDULED, they told me to come back because the car show was more important.

Rutland's Midas continues to give me EXCELLENT service. I'm a retired ASE Master Technician,…read morerepair shop owner, Dealership Parts Manager and a few more "careers" in my 68+ years. I did ALL my vehicle service that wasn't warranty repair until I was no longer physically able. I continue to trust Brent, Rich, Dexter and all the folks at Rutland's Midas with doing those things I used to be able to do, confident that it's done to my standards. I've read some of the negative reviews here and find that a) there are some people who seem to only post "one star" reviews of any/all businesses they feel are doing no more than just trying to make a living, b) feel that they're being "overcharged" because they can pick up a part at a "big box" cheaper than what they are being charged and neither understanding nor willing to accept that businesses are in business to make money and not give stuff away. You don't expect a restaurant to serve you a 3 egg breakfast for what you can buy 3 eggs for at the supermarket and still provide a warranty on the parts AND LABOR as well as the liability insurance that must be carried and the overhead of maintaining a facility, etc., etc. As one formerly in the industry, I can tell you that the "standard margin" on parts in the auto repair business is 50% meaning the selling price is, typically, twice the cost... a part that costs $50.00 will sell for $100.00. Anything less and you should consider yourself having received a discount. So, my hearty recommendation, if you want HONEST, DEPENDABLE and KNOWLEDGEABLE service is that this is one of the few places in Rutland that I can recommend, based on first-hand experiences over the past two decades. Sure, read the reviews then consider the above. Look at the reviewers profile and see how they've rated other places. There's some people who just can't ever be satisfied that the world isn't out to get them. lol.
