One would never think that such beautiful hiking trails were hidden behind this field at first glance. If you've ever driven down broadway towards highway 24, you've probably noticed the parking lot that's located on the righthand side just at the stoplight. Or maybe you haven't noticed it. Well, I've noticed it for a few years now but always thought that it was nothing. I finally looked it up on a map one day and noticed that there were some trails leading up to Skyline Boulevard. So, one day I took a drive there and parked. The field is what you'll probably notice first. Walking in, you'll see the field to your right. This field is used by the North Oakland Sports Center, and both kids abs adults use it to practice. There are actually two separate fields, but I've only seen the one closest to the parking lot being used. Could be because of Covid. Right across from the field is a "park". I say that loosely because it isn't really a park, that's what it's defined as. There's a picnic table, a few workout bars, and some heavily graffitied porta-potties in this "park". And then there's a flat walking path. This is the path that will lead you up to these glorious hiking trails. I've hiked here about a handful of times now, and each time I've discovered a new path. The main path will take you all the way to Skyline Boulevard. On your journey up, you'll be graced with the beautiful sights and smells of tall Eucalyptus and Redwood trees. Most of the paths are shaded but there are a few exposed parts. It doesn't seem to get to hot in this part of town, so this hike is ideal during anytime. As you incline up the hills, you'll have the most stunning views of the city with the all too familiar view of the picturesque Bay Bride in the distance. The trails aren't very long... maybe a few miles at most. But you could connect them and take different routes there's and back to extend the mileage. I love that there are a mix of both inclines and flat paths. What's nice about this trail is that it's truly hidden from everything and everyone. I've never seen more than 5 people on this trail when I've hiked it. I could actually probably condense that number down to 3. It's really desolate. And the people that I have seen on this trail are so friendly. The other day I was exploring a new trail but missed a turnout. On the way back, I ran into a guy that I saw at the start of my hike. I asked him if he knew where the turnout was and I ended up following him there. People are really kind here. Most of them local. I should warn that some of the trails are actually bike paths and are extremely steep and not really meant for hiking. You may have to scramble on a few sections. I've been avoiding these spots lately ever since I almost slid down an embankment on another hiking trail. The scrambling freaks me out now, but for someone who doesn't scare easily when slipping, it can be kind of an adrenaline rush. Plus, those trails will lead you deep into the forest and the views are most stunning. But anyways, these hiking trails are amazing. It's funny because they're seriously hidden. Now it makes sense why there's never anybody there. I guess I'm letting the cat out of the bag now. But with all of the other more popular parks nearby (Lake Temescal, Sibley, Tilden, Claremont Canyon) I don't think that this place will ever get that crowded. But one thing that I know for sure; I will most definitely keep coming back for more.

The grass is best kept during baseball season (which, conversely, means that you're likely to get kicked off of it precisely because of the baseball folks). But the field is enormous, and is nestled among trees and hills on three sides. Perfect setting.

Every time I come here on nice days, the tennis courts are always full. This is a very active neighborhood park!!

One of the best things they offer is their demo paddle rental program. You get 30 days to try different paddles and can check out up to three at a time. During that period, you can come back and swap them out as many times as you'd like to find the right fit for your game. The rental fee is applied back to your account as store credit once you return the paddles, which can be used toward a future purchase. Just keep in mind there is a $2 per day late fee if you return them after the rental period. They also sell demo paddles at discounted prices, so it's worth keeping an eye out if you're looking for a good deal and don't necessarily need a brand-new paddle. This is a great option for anyone getting into pickleball or looking to upgrade their equipment without making a blind purchase. I'll definitely be back!

The stadium is very clean, and the layout makes it easy to get around without feeling chaotic. Parking was smooth thanks to the nearby parking garage, which made arrival and departure stress free. The exterior of the stadium has a classic, almost Rome Coliseum-like vibe that gives it a grand, historic feel as you navigate around. Food wise, I decided to try the chicken tenders with a side of tater tots. The chicken tenders were decent, and the tater tots were too crunchy like it was overcooked. All in all, it's a nice stadium with good facilities, clean spaces, and a beautiful stadium exterior that stands out. It's worth a visit for games and special events, even if the concession food could use some improvement.

Oski's Village is open three hours before kickoff for every home game. Our experience featured a chicken and waffle food truck, local brews from Almanac, an amazing live music performance (and conga line thru the crowd), an Oski appearance, fun kiddo/adult lawn games/entertainment, photo ops, and more festivities. It's been a minute since I've been to this Stadium, and I will say it's a beauty! I dig the local collabs with food and bev, awesome staff, and just nostalgic feels within the interior/exterior. And the marching band...the marching band! We def sat in the nosebleeds, but even the crowd is super cool and kiddo-friendly. There's just something about a hometown college team that you can't do anything but smile and root for..also, my college didn't have a football team so maybe that's a bias :)) All in all, Oski's Village made it quite the experience for everyone..appreciate game day inclusivity for young ones too! We took BART to/from the game, supporting East Bay transpo + athletics thru and thru. Highly recommend purchasing tickets ahead of time!

The Lake Temescal loop is a beautiful easy-medium short walk that's a little over a mile…read more As you walk the only partially paved trail you'll see a ton of wildlife (ducks and fish) and quite a few dogs being walked as well as a waterfall water feature. The views are picturesque and it's quite serene for how busy it is. The second half of the trail (after you loop around near the fallen tree) isn't paved and in poor weather would be likely too muddy to be particularly safe, so I would probably walk elsewhere after a good rain or while it's drizzling. All in all, we had nevr been to this lake before and it was gorgeous so we fully intend to return!

Usually a nice crowd pops up from time to time. They got plenty of food insight and even some merchandise. Outside there's a ticket booth and security. Try not to bring too much but it's usually laid back but don't quote me too much. You can sit anywhere and there's ADA seating as well. A nice sundown and some baseball with a beer I would call it a nice little evening. I believe on Tuesdays the hot dogs are two dollars. I like the little grassy area to sit and picnic behind home plate. If you're a UC Berkeley student the games are free with your student ID.

Very easy to go in and out, not as strict as large volume places like the Memorial or the pavilion. Sometimes games are paid some are not, bot sure what is determined by this. A basic ticket stand and a stand of some merch and food; give you the basics. There are bathrooms available inside. Enjoy the art-deco architecture. It opened in 1932. and named after a mathematician professor George C. Edwards. One can really sit anywhere as nothing is assigned but on a hot sunny day go for the top or the press seating. It's all wide open. The views are splendid with the campanile, the Big C, and southside; truly a 180-degree view. Food and drinks are permitted and nobody said anything even though the rules were posted. Love coming back as an alumnus to support my alma mater.

Claremont Canyon gives you a lot of bang for your buck. It gets steep fast, so if your goal is get your heart racing and take in gorgeous views this hike is an excellent choice. The signs about rattlesnakes on the trail are not just for show: we came really close to one over the summer! Keep your eyes open y'all! My tennis partner's elbow has mostly healed now but we're still hiking Claremont Canyon most weekends, in addition to our time on the court.

This is a review for the Stonewall Panoramic Trail. Took me a little over an hour to complete (out & back) and that's me taking a looooot of let-me-catch-my-breath breaks lol. Gotta work for the overlooking East Bay view by enduring steep inclines. With that being said, I don't recommend this trail for beginner hikers because although the trail is pretty clear (and if you somehow get lost there is phone signal throughout the whole trail) the trail is verrrrry dusty and when heading back down you could easily slip/sprain an ankle if you're not careful enough. Parking: free 2-hour street parking along Stonewall Rd. Not a plentiful amount of spots so it's best to go as early as you can in the day.
