I have now been frequenting Vandy Ortho and Rehab for the past month since pinching a nerve in my…read moreshoulder and tearing my rotator cuff (spelling?). Positives: They have more than an ample amount of pleasant receptionists working the office. I've never been in there during the week with less than 3 receptionists on duty. And, unlike many a doctor office, they actually want to greet you, want to talk to you, and want to help you. (Shocking, I know.) If you're the shy type and don't want to speak to another person, then you can use their convenient automated check-in machine (it looks somewhat similar to what those ATMs in bars look like) and the front of the office. That's pretty convenient if you ask me. Dr. Paul Rummo (DO) is the Orthopaedist whom I saw. He was cordial, explanatory about what he was doing and the tests that he was performing, and spoke with me about the origination and levels of my pain. He was both professional and cordial. I am not sure if you have choice of DOs here, but if your insurance company will allow you a choice from folks in the practice then know that I recommend Dr. Rummo. Flavio Silva is my Physical Therapist guru. And I sincerely mean "guru". The pinched nerve pain has gone the way of the dodo thanks to Flavio. Very professional, explains each step of the PT and the reasons behind your pain origination (that next level of detail beyond Dr. Rummo). Also, highly recommend (if you are allowed to choose by your insurance company). Negatives: I can see it not being a convenient office for people who work downtown. I happen to literally work across Cool Springs Blvd. from the office so... super convenient for me. Kind of hard to find that first time. You think you're turning into an old folks home, but you are not. But after that first multiple turn around trying to find it time, you know from then on.

A truly horrible experience. I had my first appointment scheduled to see Dr Rummo. I was running…read moreabout 5 minutes late because I was from out of town and had trouble finding the place and I have difficulty walking. When I arrived, NO ONE told me I was late and therefor would be "worked in". What this meant is that I waited 3 hours in order to see Dr Rummo. At about 2 hours, I asked one of his nurses if she knew about how much longer it would be. Her response was "no" then she turned her back and ignored me. She was literally in my patient waiting room with her back to me ignoring me. Who behaves that way to patients? I was told I would be sent for an EMG study and someone would follow up with me. Then the doctor was gone. I had trouble finding my way to the exit. His nurses ignored me when I was clearly confused and another doctor's nurse saw and then walked me to the exit and was very friendly. I went for my EMG study. I waited, and waited. No one from Dr Rummo's office contacted me to set up a followup, ... nothing. I reached out to his nurse to let her know I was frustrated that no one has reached out to me and that I was frustrated about my first appointment wait time. Her response was that I was 15 minutes late and it was my job to make a follow-up appointment. I'm sorry but what? What?? At what point did any nurse let me know I needed to make a follow-up appointment? No one told me I was late. No one asked me if I could reschedule. No one told me that if I was "late" I would be treated like less than a human, made to waste my time, my money, and be treated with a lack of empathy. Not one person offered me information on what I should do after my EMG. So, there has been a failure to communicate and take care of my medical needs by this clinic, and Dr. Rummo's nurse blamed me for their terrible patient treatment? I've been moving all of my patient care over to Vandy from St. Thomas. I am regretting that now. Stay away from Franklin Vanderbilt Orthopedic
