Both our kids go here and they love it! We love the style of instruction and how the focus is all about how to get out of a "bully-situation." They focus on defense skills consisting of strikes, grappling, getting out of a choke, and more! Their instructor staff to include Steve, Steve (glasses), and On are totally awesome and motivating. My daughter has been attending the little warrior classes for 6 months now, and she, my wife, and I love Nomad. The staff is great, Jezzica, Nadia, Melvin, and David are all great instructors and take their time to work with you one on one to improve your technique. Love this place!!! My kids were attacked by another teen. My daughter was really hurt and pass out during the attack. We had the video police couldn't do anything. Whatever kids go through right now it is difficult, unfortunately victims request help from adults but they don't get it. Nomad Krav Maga provides self defense, give our kids the opportunity to believe in themselves again, and the security that they know how to defend themselves as a last resource. I recently attended intro classes on krav and self defense (knife skills and hostage avoidance) and received a tour of their facilities. The staff are friendly and the classes are practical, with reality-based drills and krav-based skills. Unfortunately, our reality is one in which self defense skills are a necessity these days and the only way you will know what to do in a dangerous situation is to practice for it. Shannon creates a safe and positive environment in which to do it, with a welcoming and down to earth atmosphere. Nomad Krav Maga integrates all things related to functional, practical, and everyday situational awareness experiences. The art itself involves many arts including Muay Thai, Boxing, Judo, Jiu-Jitsu and more, as well as Straight Street! - which includes knife defense, stick work, and instruction in firearms training as an option, as well. As a native New Yorker, born and raised in NYC, situational awareness and everyday street smarts is essential to have. It's particularly innate to me, which is why I love this work so much because of its well-rounded balance of all things life. I started Krav Maga in early 2022. Shannon and the team took me in and made me feel at home. The conditioning class is a great way to get in shape and feel burns like no other. Been going to Nomad for several years now. It has changed my life! I'm now more confident defending myself and my loved ones. Shannon, the owner and Lead Instructor is fantastic! He never stops looking for ways to improve Nomad. And Cynthia, his wife, is one of the sweetest and nicest of people I've ever met. The name says Krav Maga, but it is so much more than that! Shannon not only teaches Krav Maga, but incorporates kickboxing, boxing, grappling/Jiu-Jitsu, knife and stick defense, gun tactics, Muay Thai, and there are probably another few elements Shannon, I'm sure, would remind of. I have been wanting to take self defense classes for years being in the bar industry and just for general personal protection as a woman. What pushed me to finally prioritize is that I am going to be traveling full-time in South America. I walked in to Nomad not knowing how to fight or really protect my family except for what basic instincts give you. After a few weeks there my fitness level raised quite a bit and I felt more confident that I'd be able to protect my family if (God forbid) they ever needed it. 2+ years later I feel that I've pushed myself (with the help of all of the instructors; especially Shannon and Alec) to a point where I feel better prepared than ever to defend myself and my family. I still have a lot to learn, but it's interesting and fun learning at Nomad. They do put you under some stress so that you're used to it if/when the time ever comes to use the skills and conditioning you obtain here. They train practically useful elements of Krav Maga, jiu jitsu, Muay Thai, boxing, wrestling, and gun/knife/stick fighting. I've made some good friends here and feel that my time spent here is useful. They offer kids classes and I've taken advantage of that. I didn't expect it, but my kids actually look forward to all of the hard work they put in at Nomad Krav Maga. Kids get stripes on their belts and build rank for academic achievement, community service and other good character building attributes. When the kids get home from class they have gotten rid of a lot of the excess energy they carry around and they are much more focused on homework and having conversations with family. Nomad works hard to only give you what might work as a practical skill set in real world defense applications I feel.
