Extremely pleased with this gym. My daughter has been with Leandro for the 1 and 1/2 years. They are great with kids and their teaching style is one that makes kids listen and rewards them for their effort. The coaches, team and staff are like family. Highly recommend!!

On the second day, he was paired to spar with a 14‑year‑old girl who repeatedly used elbows to his head. He chose not to match her force because he was trying to be respectful. We contacted the coach afterward and were under the impression the situation would be addressed. On the third day, a 9‑year‑old was sparring in the adult class. My son (5'8", 174 lbs, and on only his third day) tried to guide the younger child by reminding him to keep his hands up. At some point, the coach felt my son made contact too hard. An adult student named Greg--over 6 feet tall and more than 300 lbs--then asked to spar with my son; my son being new and being instructed to spar with everyone accepts to spar. He struck my son hard multiple times and got a clean hit to the face. When my son asked him to tone it down, Greg responded that my son should have done the same with the younger child and if he wanted him to tone it down my son should do the same with the 9 year old. The coach later stated that he had been watching the interactions but did not step in. He defended Greg's behavior while also saying it "wasn't okay," and his only proposed solution was to talk to Greg. He also questioned why my son returned after feeling uncomfortable on day two. The coach repeatedly emphasized that this is a "fighting gym," yet allowed a clear size and experience imbalance to escalate without intervention. This environment does not appear to prioritize safety, supervision, or appropriate pairing--especially for beginners or younger participants. The coach acknowledged that if Greg had gone "really hard," my son would not have been standing, which raises further concerns about oversight and risk management. If you are looking for a structured, safe, and positive learning environment focused on skill development, discipline, and proper supervision--especially at $200 per month per person--this may not be the right fit. My son attended to learn self‑defense and gain confidence, not to be placed in unsafe or poorly supervised sparring situations.

My son wanted to try Muay Thai kick boxing and enjoys learning from his coaches Josh & Chance. Usually, at the end of training they get to play a game which is always nice & fun for the kids to unwind. He wishes he could go to class 3x a week but unfortunately we have other activities so once a week will do for now. We bought the 20 classes for $250 pass because we can't take full advantage of all the classes in a month yet. His first few days they let him borrow gloves and shin pads which was nice. We started bringing in our own. We never felt pressured to buy any of the merch they sell which is always a plus. They have more than Muay Thai here. It's a great place for kids and adults wanting to try various forms of martial arts or just to work on their strength training.

He's incredibly experienced, patient, and great at teaching beginners. The owner is also very friendly and welcoming, creating a comfortable environment for everyone. The gym offers a welcoming environment (at first) and a solid Jiu Jitsu program for beginners and hobbyists. However, the curriculum for kids lacks depth and progression for more advanced students, making it less suitable for those seeking a more competitive or rigorous training experience. In fact, the lack of a structured program for advanced students actually lead to skill stagnation and regression, as there isn't enough focus on refining or advancing techniques. While the gym may be a great fit for casual practitioners, it may not meet the needs of students aiming to compete or pursue Jiu Jitsu at a higher level.

In jiu-jitsu they teach arm bars so as a parent, i didn't want him back in ANY MMA of ANY kind. Jeff, at throwdown takes DAYS TO WEEKS to respond to emails. I HAVE PROOF WITH DATES AND TIMES!!! So, after like 6 months or so of him giving my sons arm to heal as it was a bad break, he didn't charge us for those months. We were in a contract, but things change such as a broken arm above the elbow and arm bar training involved is not a good idea. Jeff showed no compassion to withdraw the contract and only asked for a Dr.'s excuse. Really? You really need a Dr.'s excuse? Me as his parent said, HE IS NOT GOING BACK to risk further injury to a recently healed arm. Safety first. He said he would have to continue charging. Well We are now in December 2012 with another charge? I guess Las Vegas Metro Police will be notified for THEFT cause he doesn't respond to his customer's emails or return phone calls. AVOID THROWDOWN AT ALL COST, BEFORE IT REALLY COSTS YOU!!! This was resolved, but the above is what took place.

I've done kickboxing before, but not with a bag, and I wasn't sure what to expect. Wow- I felt welcomed from the start, and not at all intimidated. I loved the energy, the ability to push myself personally while enjoying the class camaraderie, and the variety in the class (between punches, kicks, calisthenics- I was surprised by ab work in a kickboxing class... some classes even use weights! You can try a class for free- reserve a spot online in advance, bring water, and bring a pair of shoes to workout in (but ideally walk in with other shoes and then put on your workout pair to keep the black mats clean.) I went back today to try another class- the owner taught and is high energy, motivating, and encouraging! Lots of advice for modifications to go at your own pace. "When you feel like you want to stop, push yourself 3 more seconds before you take a break." Lots of positive energy, and dedicated members! This place recently reopened after being at a different location for several years- so come check it out! As a footnote: Christina who owns the gym is incredibly community minded! On the monthly calendar of events, I was excited to see opportunities to give back like this one in a couple weeks following a Saturday morning class: "Your $20 donation gets you a 25 min massage and cupping session, and all proceeds go directly to the American Cancer Society." Thanks Christina and Sho for great workouts so far- this gym definitely feels like a community....!
