After careful consideration, I opted for Jijitsu, recognizing its suitability for my age and the potential risks associated with other combat sports like boxing, mixed martial arts, and kickboxing. Jijitsu offers the advantage of self-control and the ability to tap out in challenging situations. Upon conducting research, I identified several Jijitsu gyms in my vicinity. My primary focus was on the qualifications of the coach, the cleanliness of the facility, and the quality of my training partners. The Sim Go Academy consistently met all these criteria. Sim Go Academy is led by Sim, a seasoned coach with over two decades of experience. He is supported by a team of highly skilled coaches who possess extensive competition backgrounds. Their attentiveness, knowledge, and expertise are exceptional. The gym maintains a pristine environment with showers, change rooms, ample space, and a meticulously maintained mat that undergoes regular vacuuming and mopping after each training session. The gym's atmosphere is characterized by a welcoming and friendly environment. The members are aware that the primary objective is personal improvement, health maintenance, and consistent training. Since commencing my training at Sim Go Academy, I have experienced a significant enhancement in my mental focus. I have successfully lost weight, improved my overall health, and developed a profound desire to continue training. Jijitsu has become an integral part of my life, thanks to Sim, my head coach, and my dedicated training partners. If you are contemplating joining a martial arts academy, I highly recommend Sim Go Academy. Do not hesitate to take the first step. You will undoubtedly find it to be an enriching and enjoyable experience.

We attend training almost every single day. Yes, almost 7 days a week. Professor Ryan and the other Coaches of this gym are very passionate and patient with the students. They ensure each student understands each move and does not move on until they do so. They ensure each child is as safe as possible when sparring. They teach their students to listen, to be kind, to be patient and to have fun. They encouraged my son to compete just two months after starting and because of their encouragement, knowledge and patience in teaching my son, he brought home the gold medal and won 5/5. Another great thing about this gym is that it is family owned and ran. Professor Ryan is a black belt who teaches the classes along with his daughter's Noe and Kona and his wife , Cara. All four of them train jiujitsu and they are able to share their knowledge with the students. I highly, highly recommend Cobrinha Mountains Edge for your jiujitsu training.

The coaches are consistent, passionate, organized, and thorough with teaching the mini cobras. Coach John, Coach Allison, and Coach Cat are my daughter's favorite coaches! We do have a preference of going certain days of the week for a few reasons: I can tell the coaches are much more patient on Thursday-Saturday rather than Monday through Wednesday. It's also a lot less crowded during the latter half of the week. I know they do a lot more drilling in the beginning of the week, so it's unfortunate we tend to miss that time. Overall, we're very satisfied at Cobrinha and will continue to be dedicated members.

My son wanted to try Muay Thai kick boxing and enjoys learning from his coaches Josh & Chance. Usually, at the end of training they get to play a game which is always nice & fun for the kids to unwind. He wishes he could go to class 3x a week but unfortunately we have other activities so once a week will do for now. We bought the 20 classes for $250 pass because we can't take full advantage of all the classes in a month yet. His first few days they let him borrow gloves and shin pads which was nice. We started bringing in our own. We never felt pressured to buy any of the merch they sell which is always a plus. They have more than Muay Thai here. It's a great place for kids and adults wanting to try various forms of martial arts or just to work on their strength training.

From the website to the second you step into their gym, Milestone Martial Arts, Dr/Sensei Lorenzo, and Thai have impressed me with their approach and philosophy. So much so that I sing their praises to anyone interested in listening and have recruited two family friends to send their kids here. Jiu Jitsu, Judo, and Muy Thai are practical martial arts that would help in self defense.. especially because many violent situations often end up on the ground. To have a child start learning the basics in repetition and applicability with a focus on the psychology, intent, control, discipline, de-escalation, and defense makes sense. It becomes second nature. Their intent isn't to kick someone's butt and be aggressive but to have control over the situation to the point where the aggressor will be incapacitated and stop. It gives me comfort and confidence to know that my now 6 year-olds can develop the skills to take care of themselves as they learn more independence. And hey... if they're good, competitive, and can kick butt then sure let's gooooo. Milestone's youth system is rooted in child/adolescent psychology and development. Their emphasis is about taking ownership, repetition, discipline, and earning reward. They group the kids into cohorts based on age and each group progresses through their belt system on a tri-mester basis until they reach Level 4 where they join kids who have been in the program for over a year. There is no "randori" until Level 3 which is great because by then they have built enough skills and control to be competitive but also understand their body movements. Their instructors are all seasoned martial artists trained and educated in working with children and youth. They make it fun and entertaining. The best part is their meditation where the kids learn to just sit in themselves for several minutes, quite and not moving. Many parents have expressed how much it is helping their childrens' focus and discipline in school, at home, and in other activities. The whole school is very supportive and I hope they go far with their system because it is definitely one of the best.

In jiu-jitsu they teach arm bars so as a parent, i didn't want him back in ANY MMA of ANY kind. Jeff, at throwdown takes DAYS TO WEEKS to respond to emails. I HAVE PROOF WITH DATES AND TIMES!!! So, after like 6 months or so of him giving my sons arm to heal as it was a bad break, he didn't charge us for those months. We were in a contract, but things change such as a broken arm above the elbow and arm bar training involved is not a good idea. Jeff showed no compassion to withdraw the contract and only asked for a Dr.'s excuse. Really? You really need a Dr.'s excuse? Me as his parent said, HE IS NOT GOING BACK to risk further injury to a recently healed arm. Safety first. He said he would have to continue charging. Well We are now in December 2012 with another charge? I guess Las Vegas Metro Police will be notified for THEFT cause he doesn't respond to his customer's emails or return phone calls. AVOID THROWDOWN AT ALL COST, BEFORE IT REALLY COSTS YOU!!! This was resolved, but the above is what took place.
