My daughter and I decided we wanted to check out some small, locally owned coffee shops and this was the first one we tried. It's sort of a hidden gem! We weren't sure we were at the right place. The name of the business is not painted or on any sign I could see, but the word "coffee" was on the door. Then we stepped inside it was like we had been transported to a completely different place. The lighting was low and calm, there was live music playing, and the women working were friendly and helpful. The shop is apparently a wine bar in the evenings so the walls are lined with all kinds of wines with cool labels. We ordered a matcha latte and a mocha. They turned out beautifully and tasted great. The mocha was for me and had a lovely dark chocolate flavor. My daughter had the matcha and she said it was different than she expected but she liked it. All in all, it was a nice experience and we will be adding this shop into our new rotation of favorite coffee shops. Thank you so much! read more

Been coming here for a few months, and it feels like one of Durham's best-kept secrets. My coffee has always been served quickly and with care, and they offer a nice variety of pastries as well. This isn't the kind of coffee shop you visit just to grab a drink and leave, because the space invites you to linger. It's a great spot to settle in with a book, or spend a couple of hours writing. It is located at an interesting plaza, occasionally, there is EDM music from next door drifting in, but somehow it adds to the atmosphere, making the place feel like a hidden little escape with a touch of mystery. The cappuccino was rich, close to Cafe Reggio's in NYC, where the cappuccino was first introduced to the US. The Venezuelan roll had some spices and sweetness. The owner seems really nice and knowledgeable. Would definitely come back! It was a little hard to locate, but there's a wine shop next to it that has clearer signage. Hard to find! When I first arrived, a car was hiding the sidewalk sign and I kept looking at my map to make sure I was in the right place. But the car moved, I took their parking space, and went inside. I went because I'd heard about their monthly poetry readings, but their website wasn't updated, so I wanted to stop by, check out the vibe, and get more info on that. Turns out the poetry readings are the third Saturday of the month from 10am to noon, include a tea ceremony, and cost $8 admission, for anyone else also seeking this info! It's considered a pop-up coffee shop inside of this wine bar, I believe, which is why the signage looks fairly portable. The inside is cozy and dark, and there's wine bottles everywhere. The menu is small, but the owner and second barista were friendly and helpful when I was struggling to order. I love coffee, but need to do decaf these days for health reasons, and they were accommodating. I tried the rose hibiscus tonic which tasted delicious and special! I'm not sure what was in it or how they made it but I really enjoyed it! I hope they do well! Very cute spot. read more

A very unassuming coffee shop that shares a space with the Delafia bar inside. All of their syrups are homemade and I had the pleasure of meeting the owner who was so kind and welcoming. Inside was cozy and quiet with a small amount of seating. The owner explained they often have live music/events throughout the week. Unfortunately, they were closing 1 hour early from their usual hours the day that I went so I did not get a chance to stay to drink my coffee like I had originally planned so will have to return another time to enjoy the ambiance. I got the cappuccino which was delicious - balanced and smooth! They also had a small selection of pastries available which was nice to have as an option. read more

My favorite spot in Durham. Cute, cozy, effortlessly cool, good coffee. Come here to work normally but always something fun going on as well! Good WiFi and plugs and usually enough seating (can get to be a full house during busy windows but thankfully they don't pack do the sardine seating like some other spots). I've come a number of times since the beginning of the year and have enjoyed their coffee each time as I work through their syrup options! Pay attention to the picture showing the outside of this place! It doesn't have the name on the outside, and it appears just like a run-down strip-mall. Inside, the vibe is dark, industrial, and transient, with mismatched furniture and wine for sale on the walls. The outside being so different from the inside makes it feel kinda like a speakeasy. I didn't know it before I went, but apparently they are inside of a wine bar (I thought the wine bar was inside them). Essentially, once you get up to the coffee register, to your left is another room (with a curtain that can be pulled across to separate them) with a bar. Makes for an interesting vibe, and the Saturday they were there there was a poetry reading going on in the wine bar (they pulled the curtain across, and we were able to keep sitting at the tables on the side with the coffee tables). For those looking for a coffee shop for studying, I don't think that's the goal of this coffee shop, which I think is more designed for those interested in conversation & aesthetic. There's a few tables to sit at, and it was mostly young professionals here (no students that I could see, at least one person who appeared to be working from the coffee shop). The coffee was good, on par with the other craft coffee shops in durham, though we had to wait around 15-20 minutes for it. They only have one espresso machine, it appears, they had a line nearly out the door on the day that we went. However, there were three people working, and they were organized, efficient, and pleasant. Absolutely no chaos vibes! Given the volume they were dealing with (and the small amount of space and capacity for drink making they had), I was impressed. As someone who has been a barista, I know it takes a lot of good communication, practice, and teamwork to work quickly in such a cramped space with the pressure of a long line! My partner and I sat at a table and chatted, enjoying the vibe (and the excellent people watching). Overall, recommended for those interested in a unique hidden coffee shop (and the opportunity for poetry!). This is not a place for people looking to get coffee fast and leave, or for those interested in camping out for some wifi for 7 hours. Come for yummy coffee, a chat with friends, & something out of the ordinary :) read more

Tbh is place is phenomenal! The owner and the Barista, Marie? (Not sure if that is her name), are amazing! The drinks and baked items are fabulous. Love the atmosphere. Every Sunday there are musicians playing in the adjoining room. I make sure I come EVERY Sunday when in Durham! read more

Exceptional. Worth a trip honestly. I had the sweet potato latte, and my wife tried the matcha with campesino syrup. The lovely owner explained that she hand selects her local blend of beans and hand makes her own syrups. We could immediately taste that quality with our drinks.
