This is a must stop on your way to Fort Flagler or anyplace on Marrowstone Island. I'm pretty sure it's the only store on the island. The store itself reflects the laid-back quirkiness of the island. Marrowstone Island is just enough off the beaten path to make it one of my favorite day trip destinations. Nordland General Store has just about everything you need and more. The hand-printed signs advertise "Wine - Best Selection in Town" and if you time it right "Goat Cheese is Here!" just in case you left your goat cheese at home. And folks, they have espresso, in case you needed some extra energy for your hike around Fort Flagler. While you're browsing around, take a short walk outside and enjoy the view and the mysteries of Mystery Bay. It's just a gorgeous place here.

Very cute store. Had the necessities but just a tad pricey. Lots of local items as well.

I loved this co-op. It reminded me of PCC in the Seattle area. I went twice while I stayed in Port…read moreTownsend for 3 days. They had 6 kinds of sesame sticks - onion/poppyseed, whole wheat, garlic, Cajun, cheese & normal. One always needs portable snacks when on vacation. They also had what I needed when it came to non-dairy products. The hot food bar looked & smelled delicious.

I do love going to these types of stores and put it in my mind on a return trip to stop in and check out the store. Well we made a another visit to town a few weekends ago and we made a stop here. Like any good and complete Co-op (I have run into bad ones) the products are of good quality and the food is organic. There is a nice deli area where you can get sandwiches and food bar to dish up if your heart desires it. There is a good health and beauty section where like the quality of the food is a few grades above a run of the mill grocery store which the quality can be questionable and if it's ethically sourced (same concern goes to food too). I purchased a few cans of beer and hop water. The hop water was quite good but it is from a brewery that we have a very high regard for so not a huge surprise. They have a considerable beer and wine selection which is nice. This is a great place to go and support... something I can really get behind is to support local businesses!

OH, IF I COULD GIVE -10 Stars I would…read more We're visiting port Townsend on Christmas night for my boyfriends and my little gift. We were actually just there at 4 prior, but at the hotel i forgot the most important item for my apap/ cpap machine- distilled water (at home in a water bottle I purposely poured into since it's a short trip). I knew they closed at 5 pm, I show up at 4:46 pm. Wouldn't even let me in for 1 f'ing item. I totally understand trying to close at 5 and Safeway is nice enough to be open on a holiday (but we all know that's more money in the companies pocket). I work for a grocery store on jblm so I completely get it! I know in our store we use to force people to hurry up so we could close, but now we let the customers do the shopping and just keep reminding them per intercom that the store is now closed. But to literally be rude and say it doesn't matter if I only needed (medically mind you) one thing I can only let people leave as they're done paying. It's bullshit to say you close at 5 and not let someone just grab what they need especially when they knew exactly where and what they were looking for. Since when did closing the store 15 mins before the designated time start? Because I find it absolutely ridiculous and disheartening. I'm definitely not coming back to this store when we drive up for a getaway trip. I'm beyond disgusted and disappointed by the treatment, service, attitude, and lack of empathy on this stores policy especially the manager in an elf costume. DO BETTER PORT TOWNSEND SAFEWAY!

Many open shelves with limited availability of regularly stocked items. In an area with fantastic local products fish to dairy and produce, this stock could be found in any safeway in the country. My best guess is poor or uncaring management. I would guess as to rating, this would be a C store if safeway doesn't have a lower rating.
