Used to be one of my favorite Y's until I met Mrs. Cranky Pants at the front desk. If not for her, would rank it a 5

The YMCA is an awesome place to workout. They recently upgraded all of their cardio equipment,…read morethey have numerous classes to take (Yoga, Pilates, Boot Camp, etc), great lifting equipment, full basketball courts, racquetball court, great staff and the option for indoor and/or outdoor pool access with your membership (at an additional cost). Their prices are very reasonable as well. I paid $636.65 (tax included) for a yearly family membership with the indoor pool option, which included two free months (New Years Resolution rate). Before you say, "Whooooah, that seems expensive!!", understand this price comes out to be only $1.498 per day (at 14 Months/425 days). Now divide that by the number of family members you have and it really becomes apparent how economical it really is. Just for kicks, compare that price to a larger metropolitan facility in Iowa, such as Prairie Life Fitness in Des Moines at $2.33 a day for an individual month to month membership (NOT including unnecessary and expensive sign-up fees). Living in the Ice Cream Capital of the World and the surrounding area, certainly has it's cost of living advantages. If you want to workout (or workOFF that ice cream weight) there are also three large economically priced workout facilities to choose from: 24 Hour Fitness on Hwy 75, The Body Shop on Central Ave. and the YMCA on 12th St. The 24 Hour Fitness and The Body Shop facilities definitely have a clear advantage over the YMCA if you can't workout during the day - they have better hours. 24 Hour Fitness and The Body Shop are open all hours of the day (including holidays), compared to the YMCA at 5 AM to 10 PM Monday through Thursday, 5 AM to 8 PM Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM Saturday and 1 PM to 5 PM on Sunday. Although I have not researched the cost of 24 Hour Fitness, compare the YMCA's Family Membership cost with The Body Shop's (for the same promo period as the YMCA). The Body Shop's Family Membership is $577.16 (tax included) for thirteen months for the cost of twelve ($1.461 per day). However given the number of additional amenities included with the YMCA membership (indoor pool, showers, courts, classes, etc) for only about $59.50 more than The Body Shop's, the Y's membership benefits simply outweigh The Body Shop's hands down.

My family and I visited this place on July 2 , 2021 at around 2 pm to 4 pm. The place is pretty…read morenice. We had a great time. Clean water park. HOWEVER, I had a very sad and surprising encounter (since Nebraskans are supposed to be nice and friendly, right?) with a life guard. My son and I accidentally went to a restricted area. Then this young boy ( blonde hair) caught my attention at about 5 feet away from me. I was in the pool and he was staring down at me through his sunglasses. Stared at me with so much contempt that would have made any Nazi officer proud. Silly me asked if there was a problem. A stare... then he said " you're not supposed to be there'. I asked why? That cold angry stare followed again.... Finally, he spoke ...." Are you in a swimming class?" I said , no, but if this area is for a class then I'm sorry I didn't know. I told my son to swim away and go somewhere else. Mr. Nazi Officer ( I learned later from one of the more friendly lifeguards that his name was Brian, Bryan, Briant, Ryan, I couldn't make out much because of the noise around me) walked slowly to his post feeling like the Boss. He thought he did a great job. Lol. Bottom line, if you want to have fun, keep your eyes opens for signs, etc... and stay away from life guards unless your drowning!!!

I came here from out of town got a day pass and it was for 24 hours. That's what the website said…read moreand a reason for coming to this place. With it being a 24 hour pass I would return the next day and it wouldn't charge me for that day. This is their setup and has nothing to do with me. After I used the facility I guess they figured out that their 24 hour policy isn't best for their profits I guess. So they came to the gym to personally check me in and even though I was within my 24 hour period they had me pay again and then go on to tell me that they have cameras so I better not cheat the system by coming in and allowing their system to let me in. As if I'm trying to steal a free session. If I pay for 24 hour access then that's what I paid for. So in response they removed the day pass abruptly so that when I came back I had to check in personally with them. lol yea there's plenty other facilities with better equipment than this place to come and get called a thief. Oh yea it's not 24 hour access anymore. lol. And now they resorted to lying. I can only access this place by the means they provide and now they're saying I snuck in behind other members which is a criminal act. So I'm asking for the video evi of me doin this. Considering I just got access to this place by her accepting my money and sending me the acc code. I'm pretty sure this libel.

Ultimate Fitness was the 2nd gym I found searching on my Yelp app. At first I was thinking YMCA,…read morebut it could be a hit more miss with those places. So I decided to call around. I got a hold of a gal at first when I called Ultimate Fitness and she was obviously new since she couldn't answer my question. No worries, she handed me over to Derrick whom was super awesome and helpful. I was only going to be in town for 2 days and he gave me a deal a gym goer couldn't refuse so I went for it. Upon arrival the place was in lockdown and you would need a pass code to enter. I was greeted with a smile and met up with Derrick who provided me with the deal and with a few clicks of information exchange I was in! The gym itself is a mesh of crossfit modern equipment and old school free weights. TV screens on every treadmill and several flat screens fitted the walls. Free towel service and also bath towels if needed. There are also tanning rooms and a private gym room for classes. Overall, the place looked pretty beat and small in my standards, but as an avid gym goer I make it work to get the job done! In the end, I got my workout on and Derrick even offered me a set of weighted jump ropes new to my workout repertoire that brought my jump roping experience to a new level! Thanks again Derrick and definitely will visit again next time I'm in town!
