Dr. Honestly and the Nurse Emma outstanding. Very clear and compassionate in my experience.

In January of 2021, I was diagnosed with a rare cancer for my age and gender called hypoplastic myelodysplastic syndrome or hMDS. It's very scary because I am transfusion dependent meaning I have to get transfusions to stay alive because I don't make enough blood on my own. It came on pretty suddenly but I'm so grateful I was sent to Norman Regional Oncology Clinic. The staff as a whole is amazingly compassionate, have a positive attitude and truly care about the outcomes and quality of life for all their patients. My oncologist is Dr. Namali Pierson and her nurse's name is Laura. From the beginning they took my situation very seriously and got to the bottom of it. Once I got my diagnosis, they presented me with treatment options and in my case I need a bone marrow transplant which will be done at OU Medical Center. Dr. Pierson and her team all work very well with OU to coordinate my transfusion needs and help with transplant clearance. I had to do one round of chemotherapy which I did in their clinic (infusion center located in their clinic). Their infusion center has the best staff I have ever seen and I have been to several infusion centers since January 2021. They also have reclining heated, massage chairs with TVs attached to the chairs and the nurses will bring you drinks, snacks, blankets or pillows. They do all of this with kindness and compassion because of the deep care they have for their patient's comfort. They have amazing receptionists that greet you with a smile as well as their amazing schedulers who do their best to get a treatment schedule that best suits your circumstances.  This is the team you want going through this fight with you. I have never felt more supported by a doctor and her team before. It's really nice to experience the healthcare system in a positive way like this. read more

I had surgery here & was nervous about being so far from home. I was completely satisfied. Dr. Nelson was very kind & knowledgable. She explained everything to us & if we had a question about something, she would explain in much more details. It was nice to have a doctor to explain everything we asked to us. The nurses were the friendliest I have ever encountered. We would joke around, but they also gave me a detailed description of what they were doing every single time. I stayed overnight & the night nurses were very courteous as well. When me & my mom got ready to go, they called transport & I could actually be pushed all the way down to my car with my backs on the cart. Not happy with Norman Regional ER in Moore or their hospital in Norman. First of all, did you know for some strange reason the Norman Regional "hospital" in Moore does not admit over night patients, only ER?!?! The picture of the beautiful hospital room are those sitting empty unused right now! Don't know what all those floors are being utilized for. They refused, until I insisted, to follow CDC standard protocol for a suspected tic bite born illness, ROCKY MOUNTAIN SPOTTED FEVER to a family member that had all eight symptoms of ROCKY MOUNTAIN SPOTTED FEVER as directed by The Centers For Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta. Family member should have been given DOXYCYCLINE immediately, an anti biotic, as soon as the tic bite is even suspected, even if a tic bite or tic was never actually seen. Finally after a complete day after they had decided they were not going to give the drug, but I very very strongly insisted, and eventually they relented at the two day mark. Three day body temp was 103+ the entire time and finally the temp broke. At this point Norman Regional has administered 30 plus tests and other ant-i biotic but is still clueless as to the cause of illness. They had decided since they saw no tic, saw no tic bite area, that the tic test came back negative, that it wasn't a tick. (Word for word from family members Norman Regional main doctor) First of all the CDC says in a publicly published extensive report that 40% of people with tic born illnesses never see a tic, and never see a tic bite area. CDC also says it's worthless to check by blood test for tic born illness at less than three weeks after initial symptoms as it will ALWAYS indicate negative for the first three weeks. Next, after two days of DOXYCYCLINE, without telling us, I notice they've stopped giving family member DOXYCYCLINE even though the CDC says administer DOXYCYCLINE for 14 days or longer, 100 MG, twice daily!! Needless to say I went off and within an hour they had family member back on the drug as protocol dictates. One of the Norman Regional RN's told us "well you can't believe everything you read in the internet" and I immediately replied "even if it's an official report by the CDC?!?!" Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever is a toxin introduced to the blood stream, lymph nodes, muscles, and brain by the dog tic commonly carried by deer. It can be lethal if untreated. Family member is on the mend thank goodness although they are extremely weak, have areas of extreme skin peeling (symptom of toxins). Good to have insurance for a 7 day over night hospital treatment, 20+ tests, lots and lots of medications, an ER visit, all for what I consider a miracle the family member did not encounter much worse reaction to the toxins of ROCKY MOUNTAIN SPOTTED FEVER no thanks to Norman Regional's incompetence. We will never use Norman Regional Hospital again. We have had other doctors familiar with tic bite born illnesses since, outside the Norman Regional system, tell us, after reviewing records and symptoms, it was a tic bite! read more

NRHS failed to detect a stroke in my wife after she blacked out and was taken there by ambulance. She was sent on her way with the Dx of "severe fatigue" Her oncologist at St. Anthony told her to go directly up there after he argued with the ER doctor at Norman Regional over the Dx. Her oncologist knew what it probably was OVER THE PHONE. St. Anthony did a CT scan (what NRHS should have done) and found a blockage in her carotid. They managed to dissolve it, but she couldn't talk or use her hands for nearly a month. She lost some fine motor skills and has some difficulty with speech now. You were lucky we didn't sue your pathetic hospital. read more

The ER is outdated and filthy. They profile everyone for pain med's. Even when you're fresh from surgery and your upper arm is the size of a football. Go ANYWHERE but here. The hospital is 60 years old and it shows. read more

Just received a bill for almost $900 just because my cardiologist uses their building. Norman Regional bills separately from the physician so you will receive 2 bills for the same visit. If at all possible do not go here. Aside from the bill I've had no resolution to my heart issue. Do not go here if at all possible. Everyone is nice but we can not afford to go here read more

Be Leary of there Billing practices. I paid them in full over 4 weeks ago only to get another bill yesterday for the same amount. When I called they said my payment and the bill crossed in the mail. Really! I paid 4 weeks ago. Horrible billing office! Sending bills twice to people that has paid you in full is illegal! read more

Dr Whitesell is a great doctor but the nursing staff in the hospital is inept. Every shift change they reported to the next nurse false information about my medical history. Even though I corrected them they would again repeat the bad info the next time. They did a terrible job of pain management following my major surgery. At first I thought maybe they were short staffed but every time I did my walk about there were nurses and techs gathered around the desk chatting and on their phones. I will never recommend this hospital to anyone. read more

Their billing has only gotten worse and the executives do not care. After ending up in the ER, despite insurance, I had a rather large bill. Every month for the past five months, I have paid a minimum of $50 towards this debt. From the start, I have been pestered day after day to pay in full because my $50 a month wasn't enough each month, they wanted $67 for some reason they did not explain. I received notice from a credit monitoring company that they were reporting negatively on me, and today I get a phone call from a very inept debt collector reading a script to say that they have turned my account over to collections. This is not how you do business! This is not how a public hospital operates! Norman Regional is the devil. read more

This place sucks. I would rather die then go here again. Nurse nearly killed me putting a needle in my arm. THATS YOUR ONE JOB IDIOT. saw the doc for 2 seconds. Then took them about an hour to let me go after asking to leave SEVERAL times. They even called security on me cause I was asking to leave. Wtf. read more

Worst ER in the world. Unnecessary waiting period before you get discharged ( the more you wait, the bigger the bill) & bad service overall. The triage nurse doing the 6 am shift on the weekend really needs to show some compassion to patients who are already suffering. I was lectured for 20 minutes for repeatedly seeking IV for dehydration from hyperemesis gravidarum,a chronic condition that she felt my gyn was responsible for. She was rude & completely dismissive of everything I had to say. And once my IV was hooked up, the nurse and doctor all too conveniently forgot about me leaving me with an empty saline bottle for hours before I was discharged. I would never dream of coming back here. read more

It's a medical building where tests and doctors are so it's hard to get excited about being there. I was there as my Mom's chauffer as she was having x-rays taken of her swallowing. She's good, figured out it wasn't an illness and got a recommended treatment option. Tip - use the free Valet parking unless you like to drive around in circles. The building itself was a bit hard to find as it was our 1st time there, but once we figured out the numbering system we found it. You go to a main check in desk to check in and then wait in the small waiting area for your name to be called. They do have a cool waterfall to watch. Your name is called by an intake person (this person was probably the worst part of the visit, no smile and we were suppose to know what to do without being told). Paperwork completed and we were sent out to the reception desk and told where to go next. Checked in at the new location reception desk, handed a pager and told to wait. Larger waiting area and after about 10 minutes the pager went off (this is like one you'd get at a restaurant, brilliant idea so you don't have to wonder if that was your name they called). Very nice medical person led us to the next stage of our journey and that's a good thing because it involved hallways, and elevator and more hallways leading to a room at the end of a deadend hallway. This was weird as there was no waiting area, but I needed to wait outside the film room because radiation. My seating choices were a desk chair with no arms and a chair with arms and one with out. The room had very little light and I almost expected Michael Myers to appear. Mom's process took about 15 minutes and I was welcomed into the film room when the tech showed us the film and explained what she saw was happening and recommended a course of treatment and a follow up with her own doctor. And the nice man who led us down there took us back to the topside to send us on our way. I have had really bad experiences in medical buildings, this was pretty good and the process of checking in waitng and the pager seemed at times brilliant to me. read more

Horrible horrible horrible!! I went to this hospital in a pancreatic attack, they treated me like I was a lier. After that I just walked out because the refuse to take me seriously. My mother rushed me to deaconess hospital. I was submitted for a week and rushed straight back due to the seriousness of my case. Thanks to Deaconess Hospital, my life was saved. I will never step foot into Norman regional again!!! read more

I'm a regular here. It houses the Oklahoma Allergy Clinic. The employees there are ridiculously friendly, which makes frequent allergy shots not so bad. There is always parking available. The place doesn't look fabulous but it serves it's purpose. No complaints here read more

I am in the army and while training in New Mexico my son came earlier than expected I could not watch my son being born even though over Skype my fiancé gave consent to the doctor which is her choice to give considering it's her body. They also told her they could not put my name on the birth certificate which to find out later is not true and I have had more than one fellow soldier tell me they got too watch there kids be born while deployed we will never use this hospital again and recommend nobody ever goes here for anything worthless people and invaluable information why I couldn't see him being born. read more

BEWARE!!!! Outrageous charges!! I went to the emergency room at Moore, OK NRHS branch and was in and out in less than 20 minutes and was with a Doctor, that seemed more eager to get back to something else, for about 3 minutes. The charges were $907. When I called to question the charges I was told because I said the word "pain" that was normal charge. I'll never go back!! read more

Went to emergency room with stroke symptoms. Had 1 month earlier had 2 stents in heart at a real hospital. Gave history and symptoms. Emergency room doctor (D.O., NOT MD) had me walk around the hall for about 15 minutes. He decided nothing was wrong and sent me home. Called my cardiologist and he had me return to the real hospital, where they discovered a 95% blockage of the carotid artery. Cleared the blockage in the brain and issue resolved. The employees are friendly as long as everything is routine. If anything out of the ordinary comes up, they don't know what to do. read more

The ER took my teenager right away, but a word of warning: if he or she has a drug or mental health problem, don;t go there. They blindly follow state protocols and suddenly your kid belogs to them, even if no crime or violation was committed. Intake staff was great but attending doctor was very cold, unsympathetic. Had to watch my 16-year-old taken away in handcuffs to a mental health facility "for her own protection." All I got was a phone number. Found out later that I coud have accompanied her. read more

Billing department is horrendous. I have never written a negative review of a business, but Norman Regional has caused so much chaos that I feel it is important that others are aware of their poor of service. Late last year (2014) I received a notice of a debt in collections from Norman Regional. The debt was from early 2013 and after some digging around, I found that that bill had been paid. I contacted Norman Regional and they said (nonchalantly) that they failed to report payment. To my fault, I hadn't checked my credit score in quite some time, but the debt in collections warped my credit (the debt that I HAD PAID). After this debacle, I figured I just needed to file to have the false debt removed from my credit score, but low and behold, this week I received ANOTHER call from a collection agency for a debt from Norman Regional, this time from 2012. Why this debt hadn't showed up on my credit report or when I called to solve the last problem, is beyond me. Now I'm in the process of proving once again that the bill was paid. I no longer live in Oklahoma, but if I visit again I will NEVER go to Norman Regional... even if I'm on my deathbed. These mistakes by the billing department have caused so many problems for my credit score and taken time away from my daily life as I have had to dig through receipts from three years prior to prove payment. Once this most recent problem is solved, I will be filling a formal complaint with the hospital. (Note: My experience during my visit and with hospital staff was pleasant, it's just the billing department that I take issue with). read more

So far, at 48, I have had 6 Major Surgeries and over 100 Outpatient Procedures. I've been in a few hospitals and always thought they were in the middle but did do a great job when my daughters were born there. It's the service after leaving that has left me looking for a different hospital for my youngest daughters required surgery. Now days, I make more money (don't qualify for any kind of financial assistance), have a family, and every payday we just happen to break-even. After having my last daughter at Norman Regional, and Rupturing my Ulcers at the same time, I received over 25 different Dr bills, Hosp Bills, etc., some from people I don't even remember seeing at the hospital and 1 that was not on my ins. plan so now, I owe the full amount of that bill. But when I tried to explain to NR that I don't have $50 to send them every month, they kindly sent me a Financial Assistance pkg (which we never qualify for), then took the next payment and sent it to collections. I'm not trying to not pay them what I owe, I just can't send it all at one time and having over 25 different dr's that I am trying to send something to, then receiving a different bill from NR for my daughter, my wife, and 2 for me (yes they wanted $50 a month for each account) I am just disgusted with them now. I have been in many emergency rooms around the nation and this is by far the worst staff I have ever seen in my entire life. I wish I could remember the nurses name but I can't. She was a little blonde headed girl and she was so rude I could not believe it. She lied to the family and told them that my brother didn't want us in the room with him. Then she was asked many times by the him to come into his room because he needed more meds because he was in so much pain. After being asked by him twice and finally asked by the doctor, she came in 45 minutes later (with a bad attitude of course). The Doctor was very informative, but everyone else, including the lady at the front desk was horrible to say the least. read more

long story short... Went to the ER for a Spider Bite .. Saw red headed DO she said she couldnt do anything.... didnt prescribe anything maybe spent 5 minutes.. no exam got a bill for 394. from the collection agency even before i recieve the actual bill??? so i contacted the attorney general and finally got the bill reduced to half. But that was still an unfair amount ... so i wrote the check for 100 bucks and wrote final payment on it.. I will never go there again. They over charge for services and it is nearly impossible to fight medical bills.. read more

Just recently my son had a seizer they scheduled us a EEG at norman regional and the procedure required my son the be sleep deprived so he only got 3 hours of sleep. I had never been to that hospital and was unfamiliar with the location....check in was at 900 I got there at 915 the girl at the chek in told me we were fine and it was no problem...5 mins later she calls me up to the desk to tell me the tech pro forming the procedure has left to do his other appointments and won't be back today. I became very upset my son is only 12 and is at this point exhausted. Then the tech calls there to talk to me and tells me I was supose to be there at 830... Which is a complete lie the procedure was not even tell 930 and he left 5. Min before that. He was very rude to me on the phone and told me if I wanted the procedure done it would have to be at another hospital of rescheduled for tomorrow. He was so rude to me and was not at all appoligetic for leaving. At this point the desk staff steps in and try's to help they bumped up his second procedure gave me the number of the hospital customer services person and also gave me son a gift card to Walmart. It did not make it any better but at least they tried. I will never ever go there again if this is how they allow there employees to behave. read more

I came here after my urologist found 2 kidney stones earlier in the week and, due to increasingly severe pain, I sought emergency treatment to 1) ensure my kidney function was ok and 2) get relief from pain. I was seen by Dr. Fitzpatrick who quickly labeled me as a drug seeker since I had presented to the ER with similar pain...they failed to notice that I hadn't sought emergency pain relief in over a year. As a result of my new label, the dr (in my opinion) failed to provide proper care. She did not test my blood to ensure my kidney function was ok (despite complaints that my kidney itself was painful), she failed to test my urine for blood, protein, or crystals, and her nurse never looked in on me to ensure my comfort. I saw the nurse twice-when she was starting my IV and when she was removing the needle. The dr claimed she didn't see any stones on my CT (although the same films reviewed by my urologist the next day revealed two), and she discharged me w/o a word. I am incredibly resentful that I was labeled as a drug seeker based on my trip to the ER last year and subsequently received sub-optimal care. I do not trust this system to treat patients w/o bias and I will not be able to rely on them to help me in my time of need. read more

The only reason for two stars instead of one is the staff is very nice with of course the reason of this poor review. I took my elderly mother to the emergency room which resulted in her being admitted to run test for several days. She was taken from her room for one 30-45 minute test. I inquired when it reached two hours and they told me it is common to take a patient from one test to another if they were ready for the next patient. Three hours and 45 minutes later she is returned to her room in an hysterical state. She had uncontrollable shivers by the time she had left the 2nd test and instead of being taken back to her room to recuperate (i.e. get warmed up) she was taken to the longest and coldest test, the dreaded MRI. During this test the staff got mad at her because she was unable to stay still in the MRI. Once again, instead of taking her to her room the (****) nurse gave her valium, like that is going to help an 80 year old women that has uncontrollable shivers due to be taken from test to test. Never let your loved one to be taken to a test without someone to go along as their advocate at this hospital!!! 2nd issue, they only have one size blood pressure cuff So, when you have a small person the blood pressure cuff will malfunction and cause the persons are to turn purple. They just could not comprehend and after 4-5 times so I had to intervene every time thereafter and insist on them to perform a manual blood pressure instead of an automatic machine. I still cannot understand why they were unable or unwilling to get a blood pressure cuff that was the proper size? read more
